@bjb568 Amazon onebox also broke and the official answer I got was something along the lines of "it's pointless to fix it", so same with Twitter. Or any other onebox that will suddenly break...

batch of two: Function overriding, and C++ buffer. @rene @Glor @Sonic @Art

one left

and two right?
hmm... any idea why a CM marked this as completed? There's no comment or answer that explains it or mention anything was done.
And it's not a trivial "plz change color" bug/request.

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance Ryan's staff working on the blog iirc
So I would guess it's done on his behalf

@JourneymanGeek ?
Who's Ryan?
Anyway.... even if that's the case, answer explaining what was changed is... expected. :)

A: Stop misusing the blog sidebar and restrict the announcements tag of the blog to posts which are actually announcements of network-wide significance

Ryan DonovanWe hear you about the overuse of the announcements tag, so we're going to put into place a formal definition of what gets tagged as an announcement. From here on out, we'll only syndicate company and product announcements and community news that makes sense for network-wide distribution. We'll no...

So the status completed was just added in delay, and should have been added back when the answer was posted by Ryan?

Though I guess the tldr goes on top not the bottom, but that's a mistake this ol pupper made
@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance yes
My guess would be it still had a or happened to have been come across

8:44 AM
it still had on it. It was in our board, as per the escalation process, and Cesar marked it as done :)

2 hours later…
10:34 AM
@JNat are there levels of escalation? With numbers? ;)

6 to 8 numbers ...

6: no need to bother
7: maybe will be done
8: OK, we need to do that

that is about right

1: Fire and sue anyone who mentions it

This is so insane I'm willing to think it real

Oh. Well, I'll propose 'we get to that when it becomes a problem'... which is most likely when Trump starts answering questions here.
XD

You never it's not Donald Trump pretending it's not Donald Trump

True.
Well, then how about 'this is no place for opinions, so there's no need to protect them'? Even 'subjective' sites technically, according to the system, should rely on experience or sources as backup. :P

Also, by posting here, he would license his opinions under CC-by-sa-vx; wouldn't that override the override?

11:20 AM
I'm not a license lawyer, that I can't answer.

But then again, Stack Exchange has been sued in the past and almost lost.

That first part is true. The second one, no one knows.
It's your interpretation of events.

But then again, that wasn't for editing someone's post, for by posting 💩 in news.

We have had these "freedom of speech" arguments on Meta by users that had their question closed or their post deleted.

Yeah, I'd be more worried about the delete button, and the way you can use the downvote button to get things off the frontpage, than edits.
The way edits work here.... they don't really 'censor' any 'viewpoint'.

11:25 AM
So... is the site going get bullied by the American president for downvoting his post when he dumps something off-topic here?

I guess r/a flags, deletions, post notices (for lacking facts, anyone?) and downvotes are bigger problems than edits.
@JohnDvorak I'd love to sit that one out.

> This post has been issued by the US government, and therefore ineligible for voting and has been pinned to the front page until <lifetime and a day>

@JohnDvorak Halimah is my president. And I didn't vote for her. No one did ;D
@JohnDvorak I'd happily delete it :D

Same.

Then you'd get sued by the American President, then the company would get sued by the American President, then you'd get sued by the company for causing it to get sued by the American President. Somehow, you'd lose all three.

11:29 AM
Even though if it ever comes to that it probably means I should no longer be on the internet to begin with.
@JohnDvorak And I'd end up in a Dutch jail, eating free food and not having to deal with work. Sounds like a plan ;)

Lucky for you. Our prisons aren't as nice.

@rene the hilarious thing is...
since the president is part of the US government.... he's actually, in theory not allowed to abridge free speech
though he'd argue it says "congress"

America has been too shitty lately. I'm going to go, call me when they're done?

It might be a while

11:44 AM
@Tinkeringbell somehow I think his biggest issue will be with edits

He can roll back like the rest of us :D

@JourneymanGeek He won't find out about the button
In fact, he will cause a lot of drama, and point this rollback thing out in a totally unrelated context months later.

So... like lots of our users :D

drops head Yeah
Thankfully, the only place where there's the smallest chance he'll post is money.SE. I don't have an account there.
Actually, he'll post on SO, and they'll migrate it

12:04 PM
First he'll post on meta.

To the manager that planned a meeting at 4:30 PM on Friday... WAS THAT REALLY NECESSARY?!

Hey, it is to send you exhausted into a long weekend ... and you're welcome

It's going to take more to exhaust me... it's mostly just annoyingly interfering with dinner time at 5PM.

@Tinkeringbell if there's a Jewish person in the team they can sew the manager... ;)

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance I think we only have the single diversity muslim... But I'll check ;)

Something about religious freedom being breached... (assuming the manager force you all to arrive)
Oh wait, today it's a Holiday all day long (since yesterday's evening) so religious Jewish won't work today at all.
e.g @Mith will see this ping only... tomorrow evening, in the least.

1:59 PM
:) Monday is a Christian religious holiday over here, which means free time off :D
So, if I'm not around, I'm hiding in a blanket fort ;)

@Tinkeringbell Oh then they don't care

@M.A.R. Hey, caring is hard.
had a conversation with that coworker two weeks or so ago, told him I had to step out for lunch and not letting my request to check something keep him from his...
Ugh.
messed it up further by responding to his 'enjoy your lunch' with a #youtoo

At the time of this article, Kubernetes is about six years old, and over the last two years, it has risen in popularity to consistently be one of the most loved platforms. This year, it comes in as the number three most loved platform. If you haven’t heard about Kubernetes yet, it’s a platform that…

4:28 PM
@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance It's tingly

4:40 PM
@Feeds I mean really
how can y'all not even run a simple grammar check on the crap that comes in
Why blog post so grammar bad?

Is just blog post. Why expect effort?

@ArtOfCode How bad is it? I glanced at it and nothing jumped out. A few misplaced commas and that sort of thing, but what are you seeing?

@terdon the title :P

Oh. Bugger.
Didn't even read that :)

:)

4:53 PM
Ah, because it's been fixed

5:13 PM
the RSS feed into chat immortalises all

@terdon what was it before?
What is Kubernetes?

I seem to remember there's a hacky way to get SEDE to return more than 50k rows, but I can't remember how... anyone know?

Sacrifice a giant S when the moon is 6/8s full

probably

yeah, that
O.o I forgot just how hacky it is

Yes, I was at my hackiest ...

7:59 PM
this'll be fun to implement

Maybe you can do an aggregate in JSON ...
let me try that
@ArtOfCode you can fetch plenty of row with FOR JSON AUTO data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/query/1244565 (100 users in 17 rows)

Who's having a happy hour?

I'm happy

in a few hours maybe
gonna build a wither skele farm and a super smelter

I'm watching Stephen Wolfram on twitch:twitch.tv/stephen_wolfram

I'm also having a happy hour
Beginnings of the weekend, baby!

@rene hm... neat trick, but probably not one I can use in this case - the input system is expecting CSV

the json can go in the CSV download ...

aye, but it's expecting fields in the CSV download, not raw JSON to decode into the right fields
though I wonder if I can change that...

9:27 PM
I'm watching Anthony Sottile now...
It's early, so I guess a shot of kahlua would be fine for happy hour...

Niiiice. Yes I can. Cheers, @rene, ya solved it for me.
*raises glass*

Anyone got tips for a home page? I have nginx and a bare hello world and it's feeling a bit embarrassing at this point...

depends what you want it for

I want lots of consulting clients.

Definitely paint art then.

9:36 PM
+1

Happy hour doesn't start for a couple hours.

@ArtOfCode /me gets drunk ;)

@Catija au contraire
happy hour started a couple hours ago

the chat event may not start for a while, but happy hour has definitely started already here :)

There is only one happy hour!!!

Then I baptise the rest of the time happy week. Fixed :)

much better
the Ballmer peak is real

@Tinkeringbell how does the art help?

10:07 PM
@AaronHall How does it not?

Well, it's an interesting idea, I'm just trying to connect the dots...
I had a html5 lib in Python I should probably use to build the homepage...

10:34 PM
@Catija is it still a thing?
@rene and Jason?
@AaronHall me, playing FF7 Remake

@ShadowKeepsSocialDistance Is that the one from SNES?

11:32 PM
Speaking of free speech...
I can't remember where I heard this, but someone once said that defending a position by citing free speech is sort of the ultimate concession; you're saying that the most compelling thing you can say for your position is that it's not literally illegal to express.

The xkcd forum thread for that comic got rather heated.

11:50 PM
I've always loved that one.
