Hi. can complaints be posted here?

I mean... yes, but it won't do you much good
you probably want to email Stack Exchange or post on Meta

user829542
I think posting on Meta will make the community a little to go to the margin. Meta has a bigger goal to solve users' questions about site features

Depends what it is you're complaining about... and depends a lot on how you phrase it, too.

Depends on the topic. If it's related to the treatment of your recent meta posts... iunno how much good it will do bring it up here

Hey 🦌⃞

Rob
Did you get an answer to your Java question?

1:47 AM
@Rob hmm didn't ask it yet, but i did ask @Shadow10YearsWizard in Den's
found out there was an existing solution but that was using bookmark instead of external file, so should be a nice exercise :D
also found this:
might be nice as pfp generator? :D
currently unsure of the pfp i could use so just using default one

@NordTheLoftyWizard Your question in The Den seems to be a different one, as to your gungun question, a real Gravitar generator is available here: asaph.org/p/gravatar.html - there are literally 100's of sites offering to reproduce that specific avatar. The ones on that page sure are fancier though.

ugh
I was looking up an old post and came to the rather dreary realisation that OP might have died years ago...

Such is the sad reality of sites that have been around a while :-(

9:22 AM
The good part is that part of that person is still there, scattered across websites :)
Though... if it's the post I think it is, that may not be so good either.

:/

Yeah thats sad. Same feeling I had when a large excel tutorials site went down...

I think the worst I ever had it was when someone I used to play a mobile game with died unexpectedly. We knew it had happened but it was still kinda sad to his castle turn to ruins :(

9:54 AM
Oh, that's rough :-( it's still there, but falling apart, and there's nothing you can do
At least Stack Exchange's system lets people's online legacy be maintained and updated

Yep! :)

10:10 AM
A dead user left behind a number of great canonical answers on Travel, which routinely drive SEO and are routinely used as duplicate targets. Very sad they're gone.

Weekend!!! And I just took the car shopping and it wasn't a bother at all :D

Good! What did you bring for dinner / TV snack?

I bought autodrop to put in the car? :P But otherwise, not much, as I went to buy a first aid kit, reflective vests, window scraper and parking disk. ;)

Welcome to ISSUE #47 of the Overflow! This newsletter is by developers, for developers, written and curated by the Stack Overflow team and Cassidy Williams at Netlify. This week: seamless interoperability between PHP and .NET applications, Stackers on leading remotely, and what exactly is inverse probability? From the blog What’s so great about Go? stackoverflow.blogWe explore the traits that…

@Tinkeringbell I ... admit buying too much autodrop myself. Yeah, parking disk and window scraper are essential.

Yep :) Though... I'm not sure if we even used the scraper last winter XD

@Tinkeringbell I did twice, I think. I do recall leaving late to first let the window defrost by itself. But yeah, no elfsteden temperatures

heh. I don't think we'll ever see that again, not in our lifetime at least.

3:21 PM
That is rude! I'm old but not dead yet ...

Yet...

@rene I'm not even old yet, yet I don't believe I ever will see one on live television :)

3:36 PM
Fair.

3:50 PM
Why? Elf cities are cold?

eleven of them need to be very cold for an Elfstedentocht :)

4:14 PM
Cold enough to have 15cm of ice ...

Rob
4:39 PM
The Elfstedentocht doesn't compare to the Iditarod.
When there's a rule that more than 1/3 of your team must make it past the finish line, that's a tough race.

Yeah, there are some endurance challenges that are tough, I give you that.
oth the Elfstedentocht can only be organized at irregular intervals. That adds to the magic of the tradition.

A pinch is a grip of a flexible object in which a portion is taken between two fingers, until it hurts, or something of resemblance and squeezed so the gripped portion of the object is lifted from its normal level. By extension, that which is taken in the grip is referred to as a "pinch." When the fingers are used to perform a pinch, the action usually consists of the thumb and one other finger. The closer to the thumb the other finger is located, the stronger the pinch. == Pinch of the skin == The term "pinch" often refers to the action being taken on the skin. A pinch of the skin displaces the...

@Tinkeringbell I bet you crochetted one already, no?

5:55 PM
Not yet, actually!
I'm working on a Hornsby, scarf/shoulder wrap and blanket now

Rob
Doubt:

Only after I finish any of those, will I start something new

Rob

6:16 PM
Tempting, but no. I don't like cleaning

6:31 PM
@tink When crocheting, is it intended that plush is incorporated?
Similar like above, but just the hair, eyebrows and collar

Depends on the 'style' of crocheting :)
Unless you use fuzzy yarn though, getting a good fluff can be hard. Acrylics can be brushed with a pet brush, but cotton fibers are e.g. too short and won't get a good fuzz.

Are you a big, or a little endian crochetter?
;-)

I use pen and knife hold interchangeably ;)

A question:
When a question/answer is removed from the Recently Deleted Bluuurgh list, does the actual hidden post get removed too?

what hidden post

I delete a post. The post becomes "Hidden" from all but 10K-ers.

i don't quite get the question then
it's removed, in that it is still deleted assuming it wasn't reopened
it'll still exist, as a deleted post

@Ollie No, except a couple of cases in all SE history, deleted stuff isn't removed from the database. You simply won't be able to find it though unless you find the link

@M.A.R. Thanks.

At least, this info was true till two years ago

?

Rob

@Ollie See here: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/185491/… and in this answer: meta.stackexchange.com/a/5222/282094 search for these texts: "Can I still see my own post even after it's deleted?" (read 6 paragraphs) and "Deleted posts are usually not physically deleted (that is, removed from the system); they're just hidden (AKA soft-deleted).".

@πάνταῥεῖ That toy is sewing, not crochet. Plush is sewn, turned inside out, stuffed, and the hole covered (secreted); the face is embroidery. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plush - source: shop.auroragift.com/products/15901-dr-seuss-grinch-18in

@rene If/when meta.stackexchange.com/questions/356602/… gets closed as a duplicate, can you please add meta.stackexchange.com/questions/60539 to the duplicate list?

@SonictheK-DayHedgehog not an awesome first dupe you offered. Isn't there anything better? Maybe on A51 discussion that you can bring over in a CW answer?

@rene Not really finding any canonical ones on A51D, most of them are proposal-specific and the answers aren't canonical either.

9:28 PM
The answer should be: You're on your own, don't turn to SE for help.
That is not really reflected in any answer from 2010 on the dupe

@rene I kinda feel like Jeff's answer to my original proposed dupe explains that.

does it? It doesn't read that clear to me.

Mainly because of broken images, but those can be fixed

9:50 PM
Woot! Nice job with the merge, @Tink :)

Thanks! It was my first :)

Unfortunate that it happened over someone leaving but...

Heh, yeah

@AsteroidsWithWings We were planning something... and then Tim had to go and spoil it by posting about leaving on Twitter before we got to it. ;) You'll likely see some farewells added to answers here that were being planned for a stand-alone post over the next few days. — Catija ♦ 7 hours ago

@SonictheK-DayHedgehog plans change sometimes.
We talked about it and decided we could close, merge and explain this :)

10:40 PM
I have no objections to the actions taken here.
That said, there's a chance that Tim's name will forever appear in the bulletin: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/353351/…

Ah, I didn't know or I would've removed the tag before merging :) It's a nice tribute though ;)

@Tinkeringbell Per the comment thread there, it wouldn't have mattered which order the actions were taken, the bug would have still been triggered either way

;) it's almost midnight here... I'm not allowed comment threads after midnight, like mogwai aren't allowed food ;)

Wait, I am just quickly going through here with a moist mop ...
