@curious That user isn't wearing the same hat when I check the profile picture
...I legitimately missed that their profile icon was in the picture twice
This is why we use red circles. For blind users like me who miss the obvious

@curious Meh, that's easy to work around ;)

I really want to earn the 'This Is Fine' badge hat this year.

Badge?
Also... This train smells of fries. Huuuuungry!

Wait, how do I strikethrough in chat again?

5:25 PM
@StevoisiaksupportsMonica three dashes before and after
--- < those

No problem!

I've gotten too used to Discord's formatting

Eh... I don't use discord that much, except to share memes XD

It feels like the most appropriate hat this year

5:26 PM
This train has the cutest thing: lost and found messages for lost stuffed animals...
Complete with made up names and hobbies for said plushie

@Tinkeringbell That's incredibly adorable!

Sadly I have to get of here

🎂

5:46 PM
@Tinkeringbell that is the sweetest thing omg

I'll try and snap a picture tomorrow :D

6:19 PM

@Catija Is the Blue in the Face had awarded for upvoting a post made by Taryn (formerly bluefeet)? The hat seemed awfully similar to her avatar, and there is a past hat awarded for upvoting a specific employee's posts.

6:38 PM
@Feeds <yawn>

Rob
7:30 PM
✈️🙆‍♂️

@Tinkeringbell I think it was only one day "verloren knuffel dag"

@rene Awww... but they were so cute!

I believe you

Also... flag queues should have some kind of thing to avoid race conditions where two moderators look at the same flag and then one handles it leaving the other to wonder where the flag went XD

oh yes, the 1st release of the H&I queue lacked such mechanism as well. That was no fun.

7:35 PM
H&I ?

Help and Improvement queue

Ahhh.
SO only thing?

exists on SO to do edits only, yes
Turned out you was 100% of the time in an edit conflict with another reviewer

Fun stuff...

Yeah, that got an update quickly.

7:49 PM
Is there a hat for polarized votes? I'm sure someone could knit a scene from George Michael's "Last Christmas" to test it out. Yes I'm pinging YOU @rene

Not that I can tell
+18/-11, no hat so far :)
Ah, although it might've been posted just before WB started. Hmm...

:/

Ah, yeah. Ten minutes early. Welp.

@curious I had someone in IPS chat that didn't know what to knit... go tell them :P

ooo got my first hat

8:01 PM
Nice one :)
I think I'm out of luck this year... the red hats are a bit hard to earn.

Red hat? MSEGA?

Well, I can't wear green ones, obviously.
It has to match the outfit!

8:21 PM
Is that ugly enough to be a bug?

meh
it's such an edge case

new avatar
:D
@Tinkeringbell

Yeah, quick, hide behind that hat! XD
You do realize we're arch enemies from now on? :P

say no to parrot on parrot violence

XD
Well, with two parrot birds in here, this room is going to be noisy!

8:25 PM
is it normal that disabling winterbash doesn't disable it in chat?

Hmmm.

FREE CRACKERS ON GEEK'S HEAD

Awww, let the poor dog sleep!
@user400654 I actually don't know. Can you blame caching?

yes

meta.stackexchange.com/q/340009/369802 < Why doesn't that one go on the feedback post? :/

8:28 PM
@Tinkeringbell It's not related to the post notices.

@SonictheReinstateMonica-hog Meh, it's related to the changing of the post notices.
There's other posts about the autocomments there.

@Tinkeringbell In the past, there have been answers posted regarding tangential things that happened to roll out at the same time as a larger feature, and those have been deleted with a request to file them as new questions instead.

@SonictheReinstateMonica-hog meta.stackexchange.com/a/339838/369802 < Has an official engagement and doesn't say to post elsewhere, and meta.stackexchange.com/a/339888/369802 was specifically moved there...

@Tinkeringbell On the second one, the first sentence refers to the fact that it was posted as an answer to an older one (regarding the A/B tests of the notices on SO), and for that reason the author was asked to move it to the newer post on the topic.

True, but it's both about autocomments ;)

8:37 PM
The first one also links to two new questions that were posted regarding the new automatic comment.
In any case, I didn't think it was sufficiently related to the notices specifically, so I opted to post it as a new question. While it could have been posted as an answer there instead, I chose not to.

I don't want to fight over this but it would probably really help to get all that feedback in one place.
It's specifically asked for by SE...

@Tinkeringbell Are you referring to the bug linked there, or some visual anomaly in the screenshot?

@SonictheReinstateMonica-hog The fact that your usercard shows up a line lower, this is from the questions list.

(I'm wondering why you posted a screenshot instead of a onebox)

the amount of whitespace is bigger.

8:42 PM
@Tinkeringbell It's probably by design, due to the length of the tag list.

Yeah... it's ugly though

seems like a pretty silly thing to argue about. either way it'll get seen and either ignored or fixed

@user400654 Hey, I like things in proper boxes... :(
If I can help a bit by structuring feedback in a way that people don't have to keep 20 tabs open... might as well try?

Personally, I'd rather have tabs or separate windows than be forced to scroll

whoa now, scrolling is optional
"optional"

8:47 PM
Now, now... be nicer ;)

9:34 PM
I'm curious about this question having BOTH the official duplicate link AND a (recently edited-out) in-post duplicate link inserted by the community user

a long time ago, closing something as a dupe inserted dupe text into the question body directly

because in this answer on the New Posts rollout, it seems like the official link should be hidden? Are they both shown now?

@pkamb A gold-badge user reopened the question and re-closed it with the modern duplicate reason.

ah
good comments in the Answer I linked re: crowdsourcing that entire action

10:06 PM
another Q: this question was bumped because it was "modified 1 hour ago User Name" (which I see on the homepage topic list)
but in the question itself, there is no record of that modification
what bumps that?

Often a deleted answer.

2 hours later…
11:42 PM
@aparente001 Yes, you had posted the same question a little earlier, but it was immediately deleted. (To answer the question in your subsequent repost.)
(I'm going to refrain from discussing the merits of said question.)
Next time, please be sure to check your deleted recent questions in your user profile before making a repost.

@SonictheReinstateMonica-hog I suspect they're aware.

@SonictheReinstateMonica-hog - Thank you. Yes, I would have liked to do that. Time for me to learn how! If it's not too hard to explain how, would you mind?

@aparente001 I kinda think you might want to know - there's probably boundaries on what SE is willing to answer, and internal stuff like what you asked there and their time to respond to queries is not.

@JourneymanGeek - But you don't want to tell me how? Do I not seem motivated enough yet?

I know that the bar to question bans here is high and all but it does happen automatically
@aparente001 I mean in general

11:54 PM
Sigh. @JourneymanGeek - In case my question wasn't clear: I'm asking, how do I view my deleted recent questions?

and don't take it as a threat - automatic question bans are literally something we can't do anything about
let me check
@aparente001 profile, question tab, all the way down
There's a 'lifetime' to show up there so it may not have really old questions

@JourneymanGeek - Thank you. I am not taking it as a threat. Jon Ericson kindly sent me a message. That was what I wanted. A notification, rather than a silent deletion. He politely asked me not to post the question again and I responded politely, agreeing not to repost. // I will try your instructions now.

@JourneymanGeek Posts made in the last 60 days

I just had my coffee, and I was gong to look it up

@JourneymanGeek - I'm sorry, I didn't mean to rush you. // Your instructions were great. I found it. // That link is well hidden.

11:57 PM
@JourneymanGeek Seemed like it was a good-faith honest mistake to me.

@SonictheReinstateMonica-hog uhm, see the rest of the conversation
Which is context you probably lacked, and I was intentionally unclear about :D
