Speaking of Travel...the Travel photo competition is coming to an end! Make a submission or vote on one of the existing submissions before the month ends!
The theme for the December photo competition is "Winter or near winter public holidays". I'm looking for photos that depict a public celebration of a holiday that is celebrated either during the winter season proper, or in the 6-8 weeks leading up to the winter season.
Examples would be a large...
@JourneymanGeek probably a duplicate? Not sure. Iโm pretty sure the answer is yes. It takes extra screening but you can generally fly domestic without identification.
It definitely needs grammar improvements, but yes, it's on-topic for Travel.
@Catija That's not entirely true. When coming from some U.S. territories (e.g. Guam), you do need proper identification as you'll have to go through customs. (Not sure about Puerto Rico though.)
I ran into this once, but not on a flight, on a train. Apparently they verify everyone's info with the TSA and I had lost my ID in the airport I previously flew in from. It took a lot of convincing to get the agent to accept my two forms of non-picture ID.
Thankfully, my parents were flying to the same destination a few days later, so they were able to pick it up from lost-and-found and bring it there, and I used it to fly back.
@SonictheAnonymousHedgehog That pattern looks like it's already caught by Potentially bad keyword in body and Potentially bad keyword in answer; append -force if you really want to do that.
Up-votes and down-votes are intended to indicate whether the Stack Exchange community feels a particular answer "is useful". How many up-votes does an answer need for those up-votes to be statistically significant?
For example
can I rely on an answer with one up-vote? And with 100 up-votes? If...
While I don't agree that it's opinion-based as I've had some experience with statistics and "statistically significant" does indeed have a concrete meaning, I do think it's too broad, though, as it doesn't specify which specific site, and even if it did, the answers would probably be too long.
I had the opportunity to cast the final close vote, and why I could have voted it as "needs more focus", I chose not to vote since four others had already voted for "Opinion-based", which would override it.
The review guidance also says to review "Leave Closed" on questions that should still be closed for any reason, even if the current close reason is wrong.
It says reopen(2) on the question. I noticed that you were interested, it has a leave closed do it may need more than three; I was looking for a hammer too.
@Rob I didn't take part in this month's Travel photo contest since I was hosting and judging it, but I do have quite a few photos I took on film and scanned that I might submit there.
You judge on Photo.SE too, because you upvote (only, no DVs) any other photos of your competitors; as they do with yours. Highest voted each week wins, is featured Front Page on the site, and removed from the list - you could enter today and win this week or in a few months (maybe never).
@KitZ.Fox good for you! Still in hot chocolate phase? ;)
@V2Blast better than left... ;)
@M.A.R. he might also be curved
@RobertColumbia but why keep the avatar? From what I read, SE offered Monica to get back as mod, she refused. Which makes total sense, I also don't want to be a mod in such a place.
@M.A.R. don't see any troll? Just another high(-ish) rep user who got frustrated and rants a lot, probably. And what thread you wasted time on?
@DavidA It's a little annoying, but here's a workaround. Click on the edit button, then replace the word edit at the end of the URL with the word timeline. Then hit Enter to jump to the Timeline page for that question.
@DavidA In this case, I assume Yaakov means that we'll get some kind of button for it, rather than having to construct the URL by hand (or by userscript). Mods already have an icon for it, but they also see more info on the Timeline than normal users do.
Can someone tell me what I missed here because I don't read anything about an actual suggested edit ban in that answer from Shog9. Lots of warning conditions, I give you that.
No, but repeated edit suggestion rejections from multiple users will cause your edit suggestion rights to be suspended for (n) days, where n is currently 7.
Note that after a recent change, automatic rejections due to edit conflicts are ignored and won't affect the suggested edit ban mechanism. ...
Shog's answer does talk about RejectionsTillBanned
Unfortunately, we are no longer able to promise swag for any activities on our site. That covers spontaneous contests which aren't sponsored, as well as the swag for 100k and 250k milestones.
I've written previously about the temporary hold while we transitioned to a new swag provider. We comple...
