@YvetteColomb he's.... big enough. No idea how old he actually is
@YvetteColomb yup.
Well, "Barry Squirtle the Turtle"

user310756
thanks for sharing barry

user310756

user310756
our baby when she was born

user310756

user310756
asleep with her head on the feed bucket

11:05 AM
s/on/in/

user310756
?

wow cool.

If I could I would put my head also in the feed bucket all day

Do you have a farm, or just own horses?

user310756
I own 9 horses

11:06 AM
Awesome :)

user310756
I agist them, but am moving so I can live with them

user310756
they are awesome

I have.... 4 cats, 3 fish tanks, 3 guinea pigs, a turtle and 2 naughty monkeys (children)

user310756
almost as awesoms as barry

user310756
@djsmiley2k oh my 3 naughty monkeys are all adults now!

user310756
11:07 AM
sounds nice

user310756
we have 3 cats, 2 dogs, 9 horses

I have mice and no cat

that's probably a good thing

user194636
I have a cat and, on average, a fraction of a mouse.

user310756

user310756
11:13 AM
one of my babies fast asleep

user310756
I thought he was dead. lol

@PaulWhite head or tail?
@YvetteColomb cute!

user194636
@Shadow A superposition of states

user310756
@PaulWhite ah I just got that, the cat catches mice

@YvetteColomb not exactly skinny, is he?

11:14 AM
@PaulWhite cat mix them all? Smart.

user310756
@AndrasDeak ikr

user194636
Should have named him Schrodinger I guess

that's like calling a monster Frankenstein

Cats in my childhood home once caught a big snake and didn't let it go until a neighbor arrived and killed it. (I was a kid, don't personally remember this, just from stories)

But you guys have venomous snakes, right? Those love deserts

11:16 AM
@Shadow poor cat ...

@AndrasDeak I don't live in a desert but yeah, that was venomous snake.

user194636
@Shadow The neighbour killed the cat?

@Shadow meh, close enough :P

Daboia palaestinae, also known as the Palestine viper, is a viper species endemic to the Levant. Like all vipers, it is venomous. It is considered a leading cause of snakebite within its range. No subspecies are currently recognized. == Description == It grows to an average total length (body + tail) of 70 to 90 cm (28 to 35 in), with a maximum total length of 130 cm (51 in). == Geographic range == It is found in northern and central Israel, Palestine, western Syria, northwestern Jordan, and Lebanon. Mallow et al. (2003) describe the range as relatively restricted, with the distribution being...
That was the snake ^

wow, quite a big toy

11:18 AM
technicaly we also have vipers but they are very rare and very harmless
@Shadow bity boi(a)

@PaulWhite rofl!

user310756

@rene somehow the snake didn't bite any of the cats

user310756
milk replacer on his nose

@Shadow evil stick together

11:19 AM
@PaulWhite lol no, there were several cats, at least five, standing in a circle around the snake.
That's why it couldn't run away, I guess.

There's certainly no shortage of cats.

@AndrasDeak tru dat :D
@ArthurHavlicek toy for cats? lol

user310756
I found this a couple of days ago under the horse's bowl youtube.com/watch?v=VQZFKfWuPjs

@YvetteColomb I know better than to click "I found this" from an Aussie!

user310756
lol

11:21 AM
@YvetteColomb you give the milk by hand, or let him (her?) take it from the ground somehow?

user310756
yeh it's a snake

@Shadow Ofc ! I have a toy snake for mine. When I play with my cat I do silly "Ssss" noises. It's even more ridiculous that my cat is deaf

@YvetteColomb ah, I expected much more legs ;)

user310756
@Shadow he had it in a bucket instead of water. He was only a baby when I got him

user310756
@AndrasDeak nope, no legs! haha both is kinda creepy

11:22 AM
@Shadow bit angry-looking, but pretty

@ArthurHavlicek lol... did you ever try with a cucumber? ;)
Never tried but saw some silly YT vids with it.

user310756
actually @AndrasDeak some of my horses were found in the bush

must be difficult to ease them back into urban horse society

@YvetteColomb oh, nice!

@Shadow Tried, no interersting reaction. However he plays a lot with cucumber peels. Runs around the flat with it in mouth

11:23 AM
@AndrasDeak pretty outside, toxic inside.... o_O

user310756
@AndrasDeak they're highly intelligent and quite trainable, but you need patience

@ArthurHavlicek lol

@YvetteColomb don't they mind the enclosure?

user310756
this girl spend most of her life wild youtube.com/…

Only one cat? @Arthur

user310756
11:24 AM
I think it's hard on them, yes and I feel like a prison guard

or is the food and protection a good tradeoff for them?

user310756
But the other option is that they get shot

and care, of course
@YvetteColomb aww :(

@Shadow Yes

user310756
people don't want them in the park and they aerial cull them. It's quite horrific

user310756
11:25 AM
I am kind to them. But there's a tonne for sale

user310756
that's why I have so many.

user310756
trying to help out

@ArthurHavlicek I see... well it has some upsides to have only one. Doesn't he ask for more cats, though? ;)

user310756
I'm at capacity though

user310756
people get them and don't know what to do with them gumtree.com.au/s-horses-ponies/brumby+for+sale/k0c18632

user310756
11:27 AM
but we're in our second year of drought and horses cannot be given away

@Shadow Ours already wake up us at 2 am... and already broke a lot of things... it has downsides. I'd be ready, but fiancé isn't ready

@YvetteColomb :(
@ArthurHavlicek wow sure it's a cat and not human? You just described my kids.
:P

user310756
anyway our country started culling brumbies again, so I gave another one a home and also bought a horse that was for sale for ages and thin. turns out she has a health condition and I won't part with her. It's not fair on her

brumbies are feral horses?

user310756
well they are now classed as wild horses - some people use the term feral, but it's politically charged atm

user310756
11:29 AM
this is a nice video of my two brumby boys

ah, sorry

user310756
they are so cheeky

user310756
no, don't be sorry

user310756
it's because hundred of them have been slaughtered over the past year

11:29 AM
:(

@Shadow We cherish our cat like a baby. It's a complete gay cliché but sometimes it does good.

user310756
so I now have 4 brumbies. I don't support charity or the brumby groups. My part in helping it to give 4 of them forever homes

yeah, that's more than enough charity

user310756
the only reason we have wild horses is because people let their horses loose. They're not native to australua

user310756
they're easy to keep

11:30 AM
Don't charity efforts tend to having places with horses numbering in the double or even triple digits most of the time?

user310756
don't eat a lot and healthy types.

user310756
@SébastienRenauld well yes and they tend to look for homes for them

@YvetteColomb I bet that's only by horse-keeping standards

user310756
and some of them don't run well

user310756
@AndrasDeak yes! haha

user310756
11:32 AM
I have a thoroughbred and they are what is known as hard doers - they take a lot of feed to keep weight on

user310756
so does my standard bred (trotter) and my old stock horse - but that's only because she is elderly

artisanal oatmeal cookies, eh?

user310756
yes!

user310756
a small bale of hay is $32 - it's ridiculous

oof

user310756
11:33 AM
ikr

user310756
I was spending $300 a week on feed over winter

user310756
it's just let up

user310756
the grass is growing

user310756
I'm still feeding, but we're moving to a place with good pasture

@ArthurHavlicek true. Any plans to bring actual babies at some point? :)

user310756
11:34 AM
I also look after someone else's horse. she pays me. So I care for 10

user310756
it

user310756
is really interesting

@YvetteColomb 10 horses? Wow that's crazy. kudos!

professional horsing around

my experience is that "horse" and "crazy" usually go hand in hand

11:36 AM
now with 100% more horse

you can't be just a bit into horses, and you definitely can't if you own or care for horses

@Shadow We had this discussion, well, things are a bit complicated. Adoption takes on average 7 years where I live if I remember correctly. We also fear of being indirectly discriminated, by reasons such as "we'd prefer a family who had kids before". Finally even if we adopt, we can't be sure it'd be adopting an actual baby.

user310756
this is hilarious. I was building a yard to trap one my brumbies in. there were 4 of us in a circle (3 horses and me) standing, touching each other looking down at my chair with the things on it. I looked across and the horse opposite me was the one I was trying to catch! she was 10 inches from me! helping me work out how to build the yard! youtube.com/…

user310756
@AndrasDeak people are crazy - they make the horses crazy. I have calm horses.

@ArthurHavlicek That's insane

11:37 AM
Wife got a gay (male) friend who brought twins from the USA with his husband. Took them about 5 years, and I think $200,000 (they didn't tell directly but we saw similar cases in the media) to bring the babies. (Using Surrogacy) /cc @Arthur

user310756
they reflect the owner. ikr! my horses are calm! I'm different around my horses to around people

and meanwhile refuges are literally overflowing

user310756
@SébastienRenauld exactly

user310756
I get animals from rescues not breed

@ArthurHavlicek where are you from? What about Surrogacy?

user310756
11:38 AM
the world is a mess and honestly I think that's part of the problem on SE

@SébastienRenauld I first read that as "refugees" and I was about to say something grumpy :P

@Shadow France. Not legal. Not sure we have the money either.

user310756
animals are going extinct and we are running out of resources, overpopulated, the poles are melting. People are feeling hopeless

@YvetteColomb how so?

user310756
being a part of a community and feeling like you're making a difference on this god forsaken internet makes people feel good

user310756
11:39 AM
so people feeling like they

user310756
re being discarded hurts

user310756
my opinion ofc

@ArthurHavlicek I'm really surprised. Was sure Europe as whole is very gay friendly.

@YvetteColomb Likewise, all animals I've ever had were refugees (word being used just to tilt @AndrasDeak ;-) ) or found

ha
@Shadow HA

user310756
11:40 AM
@SébastienRenauld same! and yes they are! I believe they are as important and the hoomans

Israel isn't gay friendly due to being semi religious country.

user310756
awwww

The current crazy cat and the girlfriend

user310756
I love black cats!

11:41 AM
@AndrasDeak well you thought (was it someone else here? doesn't matter ;)) that Israel is one big desert... :D

user310756
beautiful

@Shadow my so-called Central European country has changed the constitution and added "between a man and a woman" into the definition of marriage a few years ago

I'll never understand why people refuse to adopt/rehouse black cats and just keep literally throwing them away

@Shadow France is a bit late. We had gay marriage in 2013. Adoption at the same time. It's still fresh. Surrogacy we have a lot of (mostly religious) opposition

this one is a smart one as well, there isn't a place in the flat she hasn't found how to get in

11:41 AM
@Shadow well I've seen at least ten pictures and there were a lot of stones and not a lot of grass in the pictures. Q.e.d.

@AndrasDeak rofl

user310756
@SébastienRenauld agree. same with black greyhounds, they're the hardest to find homes for

I'll post pic of my yard, there is a tree. @Andras ;)

user310756
@AndrasDeak they're good at irrigation that mob

@Shadow oooh, I didn't know you lived in a forest! Looking forward to it.

user310756
11:42 AM
@Shadow don't lie! you don't own a tree! it's a pic off the interwebs for sure

@Shadow only one?

@YvetteColomb Israel has plenty of trees but only one bush and it's on fire

Maybe I'm just thin skinned but this is offensive to me: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/335743/…
as if autism would preclude me from being able to perceive any ambiguity in rules

flag it if you feel that way

I still have pending flags from monday on mse

11:49 AM
@SébastienRenauld something about seeing two yellow eyes peering back at you from the darkness and nothing else usually I think.

user168476
@YvetteColomb I sent one, I see this in discord:

user168476
Did I spell anything wrong?

@Ash well you did just dox her on discord
so... yeah

@Mgetz That's one hell of a stereotype; make it dark enough and that'll happen with every cat, and not all black cats have yellow eyes

user168476
@Mgetz she posted it in here before

11:51 AM
There should be a "Yvette" and a space before the "yo"

user168476
(and if she's correct, and she doesn't see it...then that is entirely possibly not her at all)

@SébastienRenauld superstition?

@SébastienRenauld not the same way, my parents had a black cat (May she purr on the giant bed in the sky) and she would disappear even in the corner of a white room

user168476
@user58 there was when I originally sent the request

huh, okay

user168476
11:52 AM
I will try it again, maybe I messed it up doing it on mobile

@Magisch I don't think I can see that conclusion. It mostly sounds like concern about the impact on users with autism, though I admit it's hard to figure out what they're really trying to ask

@AndrasDeak as I said, I'm not the best person to judge and I'm a little thin skinned these days
so I won't go slinging the r/a flags without discussing

and I'm not personally impacted by any of these concerns in the past few weeks, so probably neither am I

user310756
@Ash Yvette - yo#3953

@Magisch and yet subtle nuance rules negatively impact autistic users much more than neuro-normative

user310756
11:54 AM
I've lost my password. I just tried to take out the spaces. I'll change my password

user168476
@YvetteColomb @YvetteColomb yeah, that's who I see in my pending requests

user310756
@Mgetz nah Ash didn't dox me. it's all good.

user310756
people can add me on discord

user168476
Let me delete the request and try again

@YvetteColomb ok was just a bit concerned

11:55 AM
what do you do on discord? I know it's something made by Jeff but I've never used it before

that's discourse, different thing altogether

@user58 yup, rest are victims of פינוי בינוי

@Magisch I don't think it's offensive but I can't really say if the concern is genuine either. It certainly feels somewhat like an attempt to confront minorities between them.

user310756
@Mgetz I appreciate it, but Ash is all good and she wouldn't do that - but I put it in chat already and left it there

user168476
Did that one work?

11:56 AM
@StephanS lol no Jeff made Discourse, not Discord

user310756
@Ash yep!

@Magisch I already left my comment on that.

@Shadow ok so whats discord

> Social situations are difficult enough for people on the autism spectrum. Rapidly-changing norms add tremendous uncertainty and risk. Additionally, people on the spectrum often dislike change in general. – David A

user194636
@StephanS the new normal

11:58 AM
Discord is a proprietary freeware VoIP application and digital distribution platform—designed initially for the video gaming community—that specializes in text, image, video and audio communication between users in a chat channel. Discord runs on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Linux, and in web browsers. As of 21 July 2019, there are over 250 million unique users of the software. == History == The concept of Discord came from Jason Citron, who had founded OpenFeint, a social gaming platform for mobile games. He eventually sold OpenFeint to GREE in 2011 for US$104 million, which he used to found...
well that worked

@StephanS Discord is like Slack but for casuals.
Primary audience is gamers, but it's used by just about anyone.

interesting
so like skype

@DavidA and since it's used by tons of teenagers, it also has its dark sides. :(
hmm... looks like they greatly improved on that matter though since I last checked.
@StephanS no, don't think it even supports video calls.
Or is it?

@DavidA Correction: discord is like slack except that, unlike slack, it doesn't eat your RAM for breakfast

user168476
@Shadow It does, voice and video and screensharing

user168476
12:05 PM
Or text chat as well

@SébastienRenauld nomnomnimnomnim

@YvetteColomb Thank you!

@Ash eh. Nice.

user310756
12:31 PM
@TimStone is this the first non generic avatar you've used?

user310756
I don't remember you ever having an avatar

This is my MSE-specific avatar, I've had it for a while here but it's also the first non generic one, yeah :)
The photo is actually…wow, very old now come to think of it

@YvetteColomb at least 5 years, likely more

@SébastienRenauld Slack is not my issue

pffft
:D

user310756
@Shadow yeh I was right. I'm remembering Tim from way back when

I wish that Machine Learning were advanced enough that we could use it to condense all the stuff that's been posted on all the metas & chatrooms about Monica's dismissal and the CoC. Preferably down to something smaller than Lord of the Rings...

user310756
@TimStone you've always been nice I have to say. I remember being new here. Years ago and you were nice in chat. Reassuring.

@AndrasDeak how many tabs do you have open, and how are they using so much CPU?

@OrangeDog 546 as we speak, most of them inactive

12:42 PM
Okay. Time to decide on a hard choice

I have a bunch of imgur posts open and those tend to hog memory and CPU...probably all the gifs in comments

the openapi generator tool generates rust code but neither version is fit for purpose
do I fork, patch and merge or do I just forget about openapi as a whole...

user310756
@OrangeDog oi - don't do this

user310756
@YvetteColomb every post I've seen from you for the last several months is about how you're exhausted and need to take a break. Please do so. Request an account ban if necessary, or a block from your ISP. — OrangeDog 2 hours ago

user310756
@OrangeDog this post says nothing of the sort. Don't come here to tell me to leave. It's the 4 th comment telling me to go. This is harassment. — Yvette Colomb 2 hours ago

user310756
12:43 PM
I'm no longer on a break. I'm back to stay

user310756
On my break I kept getting messaged about the site, so I gave in and came back. Besides I'm in just the right frame of mind now

hope it lasts ;)

user310756
taking an unpopular position is never easy :p

@YvetteColomb "It's exhausting."

user310756
@OrangeDog yes debating people is exhausting

12:47 PM
I'm not telling you to go because you're not welcome, it's because I repeatedly see you self-report that you're not looking after your welfare

user310756
And you said it after 3 other people said it and I told them not to.

user310756
So don't play ignorant.

user310756
I'm no longer on a break. Spread the word

particularly when they are deliberately being obtuse and pulling "All lives matter" arguments

I didn't expand the full comments

user310756
12:48 PM
I'm here to stay

Good. But if you keep implying that you're harming yourself by being here I'm going to continue being concerned.

user310756
@OrangeDog hm rubs chin ok well I'll let you off - I don't entirely believe you, but for the sake of ... being nice and FUN I'll forgive you. Now don't do it again

user310756
I'm tough as nails. I'm the least person on here anyone should be worried about - for real.

user310756
That is why I can say the unpopular things, that I know other people want to say and cannot

user310756
I don't just make things up out of thin air ya know

user310756
12:50 PM
people talk to me and I then talk in public

user310756
knowing I'm going to cop it, but knowing it needs to be said

user310756
there's never a one sided perspective of any situation

user310756
it's important to try and reveal the different perspectives

user310756
And before people then say :but you gotta see this: yes I am seeing that - it's plastered all over the site! hmmm

user310756
so I'm a thorn in people's side, but a necessary evil, sorry

user310756
nice

@YvetteColomb shut up, you're lovely, we enjoy you here
:P

user310756
@StephanS hehe I am honest about my personality - it's strong and I need to share the room with all else

user310756
jsut as I accuse people of driving people away, I don't want to do that

On it being exhausting. I like Kate Gregory's post about trolls: "They love riding the very edge of appearing polite...They demand proof over and over..."

12:54 PM
@YvetteColomb that was only aimed at that one comment

@Raedwald yep you can never give them enough evidence

user310756
@Raedwald yes! and people were asking for evidence to my answer - I said - it's in the question, I'm answering the question... O.o

The problem is when you take this approach to discussion and refuse or react angrily to requests for proof, people who actually just wanted to know take that as evidence that you have none and just want to do a power grab

@Mgetz Really? Could you give some examples ;-)

there's really no winning in this game

user310756
@Raedwald actually can you give me evidence to support that?

lol

@Mgetz Here's a lovely version of that song youtu.be/lIdfulZ1c5c

@Mgetz indeed

12:58 PM
The sad thing about human nature is that we are willing to discuss things only as a way to reinforce our already made point of view. We dislike being changed
Now change my point of view about that :P
