"If you go back to an answer written for IE6, and rewrite it using ECMAScript 6, you get only 2 reputation points". Actually, you probably get your edit rejected for rewriting code.

@Alex Any kinda fun is unauthorized, otherwise it wont be fun :-P

@Alex "If you find yourself being a lawyer, please stop. The world doesn't need more lawyers" was the answer to "what is the most harmful habit of active SO users?"

That was at 1:05:00; the first 2/3 of the chat was mostly ancient history.

Build thing, building useful thing, hopefully innovative useful things. I look down upon people who are only good at destroy things.

@Alex yeah, and painfully slow to listen to; you have my sympathy.

It was a soundtrack to reviewing (and answering).

I watched the first few minutes again, did you gain weight @shog, or was it a bad angle?

Probably both?
it's the, uh, opposite of the "selfie angle"

There are ~8000 SO questions with more views than the most-viewed tag wiki (which is jstl, someone must really like linking to it)

user202362
1:17 AM
Is it me or stackoverflow staff have generally been gaining weight over the past few years?

They must be fed good.

user202362
I have been trying to lose the flab by bushwalking carrying my own food for nearly a week at a time. I am amazed at how little food I need every day. I lost no weight whatsoever after a week traveling 80km-100km of scenic places.

user202362
Of course I didn't have to worry about water because I had guides and they planned the trips out to ensure where we camp there were always water.

just read the oddest defense of open-plan offices in a twitter thread about Apple's new office complex
essentially, being able to focus on your work is a bad idea because if you don't know what you're doing you might end up building something useless
by the same token, I expect I should walk more and drive less - I'd get lost more slowly
(and, probably lose some weight)

user202362

a lot of people's work are next to useless anyways

I know a few who don't but they may be foreign spies.

I know what too many people think of me already. If you want to bribe me, give me something to help me forget.
oh wait, you were asking for a bribe. For efficiency then, I'll keep my forgetfulness elixir to myself.

Found a strange dialog box in an old version of visual studio (2012 web). It prevented the solution from loading. Looked around at all sorts of crazy solutions. Found the hotfix page and this is what it said to do.
Workaround: To work around this issue, click OK when the dialog box appears after you either create a new project or open an existing Web Site Project or Windows Azure project. After you do this, the project works as expected.
lol that has to be the easiest workaround I have ever had to implement

Yes, I'm listening to music but I hope you like the work of the 3 B's ... — rene 18 secs ago
@Bart ^ ... not from Volendam ...

What's with the weird pings?

@M.A.R. it is the new music stream on your favorite site?

@rene no, it's the autocorrect not liking the word "pins"

@M.A.R. what is up with the pins then? You dislike my taste of what is relevant?

7:25 AM
Or maybe I typed something so weird that got corrected to 'pings' instead of 'pins'
@rene Yes!

Though luck, deal with it ...

Or I can revolt instead and take over

That is an option. Happy revolt for you ...

You seem confident, petalopeasant. I shall recruit the Shog and indigo feet, and I shall defeat you good sir.

Not spam IMO

fair enough

ELL doesn't get many smart spams
Speaking of which, if you ever needed packers and movers in Hyderabad, do tell me

flag as spam ;p

@Inc. oh yeah? flagging as spam seed

9:51 AM
I noticed the flag reasons for comments are back to the old ones. Is there a post about the change back?

@kiamlaluno umm.. not repro on SO?

@Inc. It could be it's just on Stack Exchange 2.0 sites. I noticed it on Seasoned Advice. and then Drupal Answers.
Argh... Never mind. I was flagging a post, not a comment. My aim was wrong. :D

okay :)

hands coffee to @kiamlaluno

@rene Thank you. I need it. I don't know why I was thinking that flag shown on the bottom of an answer would flag the first comment. :DD

I suppose G on this screenshot means they use a Google account to log in. How do they create so many of those?

user315433
Probably separating labor there: an account mill where workers create Google accounts all day long, and sell them in bulk to spammers.

Is that 'G', or '6'?
Probably '6' flags, instead of 'G' account?

user315433
Oh.

Has anybody considered a notice box thing that tells users who just answered a question and have more answers than edits to edit the question they answered to allow their answer to help more people?

@bjb568 I think the answer to edit ratio is not such a useful additional filter
This notification would either not appear, or appear so repetitively that people would just ignore it

> Don't worry about the exact details of the algorithm used for blocking - in general, it's fairly conservative as far as who or what gets blocked. On the majority of sites, this will affect few if any users in the near future. -- Comprehensive question quality blocks now enabled everywhere

user315433
So... we are not supposed to worry about that. :)

user315433
Q-bans are everywhere, but the post does not disclose whether there are any site-specific parameters in the formula.

@Alex that will work for me ;)
@Alex there was confusion here and the MSE and MSO post we direct users to state different things.

user315433
@rene Shog's post says "Quality blocks are based on each community's rating of questions and answers" in the context of question block.

9:46 PM
Hmm, OK. So then indeed, answers might help.
I'm pretty sure I was told by an SE employee answers don't matter
but I keep it on the we are not supposed to worry about that

id would be redundant, we can already see that. gravatar gives us a visual hash of data that is NOT present, your IP/email. — Jeff Atwood ♦ Jul 2 '09 at 4:42

user315433
Yeah, what could go wrong with that?

user315433
Also, does Why is my gravatar on Meta Stack Overflow different from my gravatar on Stack Overflow? even have anything to do with the current state of things? It's referenced in the SE uber-FAQ post.

@Alex didn't someone reverse engineer that and use it as a way to spam people? ;p
