Today is troll SU day...

I just pinged an SU mod and asked whether they can take a look at it

Too late to mod flag, since it got 1 upvote, but... saved by Quill!

Bob
uhm... if anyone's around - we could use some more flags on SU (ongoing troll) => superuser.com/questions/1102498/…
other guy was => superuser.com/users/618755/stupid-su-user but we've managed to delete the answers by now

ex web admin stole my site telkitty.com

user202362
I am not sure whether he plans to sell it back to me at hefty price

I think we need a CM here. We have a troll that is apparently bypassing the normal IP checks; the user is repeatedly recreating accounts.
@Shog9 @JonEricson @AdamLear MAYDAY MAYDAY – we have a persistent troll on Super User that is circumventing IP blocks!

It's 7:20 here, fortunately not there.

@bwDraco Are there any existing posts/user accounts? I think they've been cleaned up and I'm watching new posts.

12:24 AM
@JonEricson I'm curious of one upvote on one of this (already deleted) user's answer

@bwDraco IP blocks can be circumvented by changing which node you decide to use on a VPN
Chill out a bit, I already brought it up in TL and we're (Charcoal + SU regulars) are handling it fast

I am getting telkitty.com.au instead

Bob
@Telkitty Don't you need an ABN for that? Or do you have one? :P

user202362
I have one ... ever an ACN

user202362
@Bob but you probably do no need a ABN, because hobbyists can have websites too

user202362
but I linked ACN with domain name

Bob
12:53 AM
@Telkitty Interesting... I've always seen that listed as a requirement for .com.au
Wasn't it .id.au for personal sites?

1:07 AM
Anyone can register a .com here.

Bob
@bwDraco That's because .com is freely open. .us is not.

Hmm.
.us requires proof that you're a United States national or are doing business in the United States.
.biz doesn't seem to require a TIN (the American equivalent of an ACN), oddly enough. You just need to prove it's for some sort of business.

user202362
nothing was required of me for having telkitty.com, but when I tried to register telkitty.com.au there was a section for ACN, although I am not sure that's compulsory

@bwDraco formally it does, practically, I just had to press the agree button

s/TIN/EIN/
(an EIN proves that you actually run a business, it is used to identify a business as a separate entity)

user202362

Since no proposals for SO in other languages are being accepted, it's a moot point whether they should go through definition or not.

A: Do Stack Overflows in different languages need to go through the definition phase?

Robert CartainoThe issue is moot. We are not currently accepting proposals for non-English sites — See Internationalization 'State of the Stack'. But each phase also measures if there is enough interest and support to actually build a site. We would not side-step that process; it never ends well.

heh Robert used the same language as you

1) buy your neighbor matches
2) wait for him to set the trees on fire
3) No more reason to have the balcony. #Lifehack

Setting a living tree on fire with matches surely requires a lifehack.

@Shog9 Replace steps 1 and 2 with set fire to the trees yourself

actually, I have no idea where you're at. Out here, trees go up pretty readily, especially when surrounded by a few years of needles and slash. Right now, about 16K acres are on fire just south-west of here.

user315433
NY State, we are under some kind of drought alert, but no notable fires around here.

were you evacuated too, @Shog?

I always picture Shog on his porch, with a tumbler of whisky, staring in the face of the apocalypse

@Quill naw, this is a good distance away; prolly 70 miles as the crow flies
been a couple of years since we had a big fire nearby
gotta build up fuel again
that reminds me, I need to build a new porch

@Magisch that's what it was created for. We don't hook into it. But - the flags (in particular spam flags) get fed into our internal anti-spam system (spam-ram). It helps keep out a lot more spam than smokey ever sees.
@Magisch that may still happen. We have too many balls in the air right now. To do so - but it is possible that something like that will happen in the future.
