Hi guys! What's up?
Can anyone figure out the voting pattern on this question?

Q: Insurance, healthcare provider, apparent abuse, lack of transparency

Aaron HallI'm now covered by my employer's health insurance. We're used to shopping around for health care, so we expect to spend $80 to $100 at the doctor if we're sick. My wife has an understandable expectation that insurance is supposed to cover every visit to the doctor's office, but I made it clear ...

Largest Lottery winners in the World was on 13 january 2016 for $ 1,6 billion by Powerball lottery. Now in order to win lottery, you must buy lottery. But anyone with reasonable intelligence would know that pay off for lottery is much less than 1 - that is for every dollar you put in, expected return is less than $1. So why would any rational person do it?

@Telkitty Not much better or worse then being born with a billion dollar inheritance.

user202362
difference is whether self made or not

Life's unfair either way. If I was born into a rich family, I'd never have to work a day in my life. If I was born in some slum in the third world, I probably wouldn't live to 25 and slaving away at a sweatshop since 10.

A: Can moderators make an answer accepted to close the post?

Shog9No. Because... ...Accept means only one thing: this answer was helpful to the person who asked the question. Take that away, and there's no point to having it. ...Moderators are ill-qualified to do this in many cases. Expecting a moderator (or even a group of moderators) to be able to decide th...

Out of curiosity, which site mods?

@M.A.R. out of curiosity, if Shog knows that "certain sites are rather infamous for this sort of behavior by moderators"why are those users still mods (or in the most infamous cases - why are still those sites part of the real world)?

Well, if you're more serious than you probably are, it's because he respects disagreement?

First question to be answered: Do mods even have the option to mark an answer as accepted and if so, why?

@M.A.R. Pushing answers "with irrelevant or lackluster" content doesn't really seem just "disagreement". The way I read that is that there are communities with mods that are known for promoting irrelevant or bad content for their own reason - and probably gain. So, again, if I am reading that right, I am pretty serious in asking why those "known users" are still there making damage

@rene they don't. He prolly meant they're just too rash

9:33 AM
Oh, wait. I think I got it now.

@M.A.R. then Shogs accusations don't make sense?

Shrug

"Certain sites" doesn't imply "certain sites in the Stack Exchange network"

Oh

so, based on the "mods randomly marking answered posts..."
he was probably talking about some very social forum of a mayor software vendor....

@S.L.Barth still an issue? Got a link? Normally all Unity3D docs should be public unless it's really private beta stuff under an NDA.

@Bart This was one of the items. The user posted a number of items.
Maybe the user really is acting in good faith, and providing contents that looks well (including pictures).
...but right at the moment, that is not what I expect in Documentation... unfortunately.

I'll have a look, but I don't immediately see anything familiar or inappropriate.

@Bart Thanks! It would be nice if it really was well-written original content.

Hi all, does this user's profile description seem strange to you? e.g possible spammer?

@Athafoud of course, but this is allowed. As long as the spam is limited to the user profile, and not in posts or comments (or chat), it is fine and permitted.
The user profile pages are not crawled by search engines.

user202362

Anything I miss here:
I'm not sure why this gets so much negative reception. Site recommendation questions are on-topic and asking questions about dubious practices can be helpful if you're in the market for developing counter measures. Don't mix-up your (dis)-like of the actual question with the merits of the meta one. — rene 28 secs ago

I'd say you're correct. Fair enough question which will probably have an answer.

The Dutch are right, again.

6:19 PM
@rene I second that.... being totally neutral, of course :-)
@Athafoud Yeah, I also thought there was something fishy about it. Witness the user's repeated attempt to force an entry into Documentation: stackoverflow.com/users/7104294/…
@ShadowWizard I thought profile pages weren't indexed for users below 1000 rep.
And @Bart, thanks for having a look at those Unity3D entries in Documentation today! Glad to hear that it seemed OK.

@zaq oops, yes. Still, same effect: spam doesn't have real effect.
@S.L.Barth as zaq said, there's nofollow on the links, think that not rep related.

@drob thank you SO much from the sales team - super helpful data. Like Python/Ruby, not C++, in 2016 helpful #PhillyCheeseStack

user315433
What does the second sentence mean?

That Python/Ruby and not C++ are popular in 2016?

@zaq Just . . . helpfulz thankz
@zaq It could be that it meant ''in 2016, Philly is helpful'' and ''Like Python/Ruby, not C plusplus'' was the previous sentence as a whole.

@M.A.R. I see the consistent name is not applied on avatar... :)

@ShadowWizard What the heck does a name have to do with the avatar?
And how the hell did you find it out that fast? Are you stalking me? ಠ_ಠ

@M.A.R. many times they go together and changed together. Ask @zaq (and @CRABOLO, but he's long gone...)

Oh, pardon the expletives. I was angry at how stupid people can be.
@ShadowWizard Well, these two are rare cases. And rare cases indeed.
Most people just change avatar.

@M.A.R. blame the colors.... they're bright. ;)

When they change names, usually there is an avatar change, but not the vice versa.
@ShadowWizard But you had to see my avatar to notice it's changed. Where did you see it?

8:11 PM
@M.A.R. glad you became like "most people" then... :P
@M.A.R. umm.... right here in chat... ?

@ShadowWizard nope, it still takes 30 minutes on average because it's refreshed once per hour. But if you change the avatar 59 minutes after the last chat user update, i just takes one minute :)

Thank God. I thought I had a thirty-seven-year-old peer stalking me.

@S.L.Barth His.

@M.A.R. We can't be sure

I'm sometimes a jerk. Hence I'm a he.

@M.A.R. You're being followed by a detective in a peerstalker hat....

@ShadowWizard Not all evidence is . . . touchable . . . you have to infer from observations.

8:15 PM

Peer, you look fat

@M.A.R. no see, no touch

@ShadowWizard You might need to be introduced to the concept of hidden weapons.

@M.A.R. Molecules have genders? :-P

@S.L.Barth More than you think
Referring to a dodecahedrane as ''it'' is offensive though. Mind your language. ಠ_ಠ

8:19 PM
@M.A.R. weapon must be loaded first. Ask @ber.

@M.A.R. Thanks for the warning. I wouldn't want people to think I'm dodecahedranist.

@ShadowWizard Ammunition is stored in a nearby spot and can be loaded really fast if needed.

@M.A.R. I read that wrong... thought for a moment it said "Animuson is stored in a nearby spot".
A weapon of moderational destruction.

Well, you're not wrong.

Uh-oh.... watch out for @M.A.R. ... he's got a moderator, and he's not afraid to use them!
....guess that's why SO is having an election for a new moderator.... some of the present ones have been captured by the dodecahedrane front.
