@Nick_Craver @cjmaclachlan so.. where can I learn more about #PhillyCheeseStack ? I live near Philly.. so there's that

user315433
The answer is obvious: at meetup2016.stackexchange.com where non-classified presentations / pictures are posted. Well, not really. But... could be.

user315433
Would be more interesting than another issue of SO podcast debating the merits of liquid soap vs bar soap.

A: How does one stop sushi seaweed wrapping being too chewy?

black toadI use a propane blowtorch to crisp up my sushi. If you try this, expect to ruin a few sushi rolls before you get it right.

stackoverflow.blog? They switched over to that?

@hichris123 Needed another domain for CORS reasons, it seems. chat.meta.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/5364776#5364776

Ah. Still looks... not so great.

user315433
It used to be possible to see all blog posts together, be it an engineering update or podcast. Not anymore, got to pick a bucket first.

user315433
CFAL and Talent buckets are marketing drivel, seemingly composed by a Markov chain.

user315433
The Company bucket includes podcasts, but not the same posts you'll see if you choose the Podcast bucket.

user315433
2:00 AM
And the Speakers bucket has out-of-date job title for Nick Craver.

user315433
My role at Stack Overflow is "Architecture Lead”, but they still haven’t let me design any offices yet. I was lied to.

user315433
@hichris123 I think .blog TLD is not a bad idea. My blog has .org domain for random availability reason. I'm not an organization...

user315433
Does the switch mean the old sites' blogs are dead now?

user315433
No, for example webapps.blogoverflow.com still exists, all two posts of it.

They'll be dead soon enough.

2:20 AM
The latest plan I've heard is that they will be available as a static page if the community wants that. We'll support blogs that are active that want to move to another host.

user315433
@anildash @StackOverflow Official launch for .blog is Nov 21 (https://get.blog/). We're special :)

If I come close to where you are in 3-4 months time, will you tremble with fear and hide like a fluff sensing an apex predator is approaching? @zaq

7:20 AM
@zaq I'm not sure if that is a thing everywhere but here in the Netherlands the real architects were indeed claiming that the title was protected and couldn't be used in the software engineering context. Didn't change much though ...

Shouldn't the mod hats expire at the end of term?

The term was remarkably short...

I like the Frank assessment of the situation.

Short answer links still don't onebox.

Maybe only a discuss.A51 thing.

Mm, no? Weird.

user315433
I've had the same with other short links to answers.

Anyway... A site on subject X disallows questions of type Y because those who formed the majority at the time of site creation dislike them. Those who want to ask and answer questions of type Y don't succeed in convincing meta regulars (a small self selected group) to change the way. What options remain?

user315433
The situation could be different if the site was formed by those favoring Y. But one can't turn back the clocks, and there are no second takes. Site's are scoped by whoever was first to occupy the high ground.

Over and over, the idea comes up of classifying questions by "level" (was there a "beginner" tag at SO once?) But nobody sees how it could really work with the system being what it is. What are the levels, and who gets to classify questions? Mis/using tags for this purpose.leads to more issues.

On Area 51, users committing to a proposal are asked to self-identify as "Just Curious", "Beginner or Learner", "Avid Enthusiast or Prosumer", "Professional or Expert"... what if the same applied, and was mandatory, when registering for a Q&A site?

user315433
In my experience, the best way to determine the quality of a question is by knowing the user asking it.

Thank FSM again!
Apparently an AI assignment for me is due 2016-11-01. I thot I forgot about it and missed it, but apparently there are 31 days in October now.

> I think that it would actually attract traffic to Stack Overflow, because coders wouldn't have to deal with "noobs" if they didn't want. It also means that newer coders aren't discouraged, and would later progress onto SO. I'd be interested in your thoughts on this. I've attached a screenshot of another user in a similar boat to me, I'm sure there are plenty. -- discuss.area51.stackexchange.com/q/25682

Left to right: sklivvz, Konamiman, ?, Oded

user315433
Then I don't know why it's Portuguese, when Konamiman is from Spain...

user315433
Perhaps they drank enough so the difference doesn't matter.

Maybe the third is from Brazil?
Or Portugal itself I guess...
No one on the team page currently lives in either, so... maybe they were born there.
Calm before the storm. #PhillyCheeseStack #StackOverflaw https://t.co/MshCRnehve
Better than Stock Exchange I guess...
When you change your company name, people find better ways to misspell it.
