@bjb568 you should talk to the guy we had for our neural networks class. The guy had such a nasal voice that we couldn't distinguish between him saying "one" or "two".

I want to be a neural network class now :(

Summary of that class: "We created a multi-layer network now, but it doesn't really fully do what we want it to do. How can we adapt it?" "Pffff. Add a layer? I don't know"
And the guy "programmed" everything in Excel, because he didn't know anything else. God, the memories.

Each other can be combined to eachother, right? There's a pronunciation difference…

Afaik it's simply "each other"
But @tchrist will likely tell me I'm wrong in Latin.

@bjb568 In what language?

Preferably english.

4:03 PM
Did you find eachother in a reputable dictionary?

No.
But most people will say each other and eachother differently.

Um, no.

I say "each other" and "ya'll" differently.

@bjb568 rather "some people contract "each other" to "eachother" in their speech" I'd say.

Just causa person saysa thingortwo allruntogether is nothing close to sufficient grounds to alter the standard orthographic representation.

4:07 PM
Works for German though :p

@Bart You don't write in speech.
So you don't contract.
Orwe'dallbetalkinglikethis.

Hey, just because your avatar now looks somewhat like mine, doesn't give you the right to tell me what to do. You're not my mom.

Then write speech. Whatever.
BTW yours looks like mine. There's a difference.

4:21 PM
@Bart No. English is a stress-timed language, which means that all unstressed syllables undergo severe centralization and shortening in connected speech. WE DO NOT CHANGE HOW WE WRITE ENGLISH TO REFLECT THIS.

@tchrist That's what I'm saying. They may pronounce it "eachother", but it's still written "each other".

Good good.
English spelling does not reflect English pronunciation. Period. They each have their own completely unique histories and traditions, and they are not related to one another.
Or at least, those histories are not.
