@JasonC thing is, I don't see it as trying to evade suspension but as a way to report real bugs. Yes he can collect all those bugs then report them when getting back, but why wait?
11:32 AM
@AndrewT. As I mentioned almost immediately after, VM264 was a cached .js file of the site which was loaded without its libraries higher order than it already loaded, therefore the first two lines of exception; while the last was just a glorified way of noting that not only was the site giving a feedback page of 503, so was the favicon
wouldn't it be strange if the site was 503 but the favicon could be served?
care to explain?
503 could be a programming error
@JanDvorak won't it be 500?
503 is usually when the whole IIS is down

@Unihedron HTTP 503 (Service Unavailable): The 503 (Service Unavailable) status code indicates that the server is currently unable to handle the request due to a temporary overload or scheduled maintenance, which will likely be alleviated after some delay. The server MAY send a Retry-After header field (Section 7.1.3) to suggest an appropriate amount of time for the client to wait ...
I think 503 is returned if http.sys isn't able to get a process/thread to accepts the socket connection
11:44 AM
@Shadow yep that's the one
You could still have the application server maxed out while static files are handled by a different process

Not 100% sure what the issue is, but it looks like ny-web06 may have restarted for some reason, and the Area51 apppool didn't start. However, the stackexchange.com apppool did start, and the LB actually pings that app to decide whether both SE.com and A51 are online. So it thought A51 was online and was trying to send traffic to web06 for it, even though it was actually offline.
Anyway, I just started the apppool on web06 and everything came back.

2:05 PM
@JasonC let's agree to disagree then. As it stands, SE official response (via Shog) is "we don't care about suspended users", and I can't really fight this, so @nicael will have to wait for the suspension to be over before reporting new bugs.
I don't see any issues with reporting broken things in the penalty box.
But you can't come out to report them
@PatrickHofman not perfect though, someone downvoted which isn't good for spam.
@ShadowWizard I know :(
Eh. Downvote spam if you want.
If smokey reported it, we'll get enough flags on it.

@ShadowWizard Then we agree!

I bothered Shog on a weekend.

Or maybe this is a slow execution. Death by tavern.

2:10 PM
@ShadowWizard or disabled for life.
@Undo huh, true that
I'm optimistic today.
great, my coffee turned cold because of you guys. Not cool distracting me like that! :P
@JasonC Not necessarily - in this case, we'd more be using the time as a filter so that mods only need to look at people that are doing enough damage to care. No use wasting a moderator's time on someone who is closing a question a month, even wrongly. — Undo 4 mins ago
Yes, necessarily, by definition of "speed" (or "rate" if you prefer). :P
Anyways that suggestion contains exactly zero problem statements.
2:14 PM
@JasonC But not targeting speed-closures.
But yes, you're technically right :P
@Undo A speed based warning not designed to target speed is not the right criteria, though. I'd rather just see a "if you believe this was closed in error, flag it" direct flag link in the close explanation. Actually, I'd rather just see no changes be made to that system. Won't can always run for mod next election if he's really unsatisfied with the time it's taking for the questions he personally wants to close to be closed.
you're going to make me run numbers on this, aren't you? >.>
I suspect, given complete lack of description of the problem that it's intending to solve, that Won't just saw some questions that he really wanted to close and found a palatable way to complain about it.
I doubt it.
You know that he was an SO mod
Nice.
Please don't require 10k for it kthxbye — bjb568 58 mins ago
2:17 PM
Doesn't matter. No problem statement = no constraints on what I can reasonably assume the problem is.
Maybe he's just sad that he's not a mod any more.

@ShadowWizard Yep. You're right. I used the wrong word.
Wonder what options I have now.
@LynnCrumbling hmm... can this be undone? @Undo?

@ProgramFOX Same question to you.

@Undo That's the best kind of "right"
@ShadowWizard Ummm maybe
Think @Pro is still at school
How important is it?
Scale of 1-10; 3.5
How much will it damage the heuristics by having an fp where it should have been ignore?
2:29 PM
@Undo depends, what happens when a post marked "offensive body detected" gets "fp" by mistake?
(swearing: "shit") was marked fp.
@ShadowWizard it just gets added to the bayesian list that we don't use. And gets ignored.
oh, that reminds me. Did someone want whitelistedusers.txt?
@Undo So using this word from now on won't trigger alarm? That's kind of bad.
@ShadowWizard no, the post gets ignored. Not the word
@Undo oh. So what's the difference between "fp" and "ignore"?
