Q: We'd love a French Stack Overflow - but it's a long way out

Tim PostProposal: Programmation (Stack Overflow in French) The main deciding factor going into what we localize is how many developers that speak a given language can't, for whatever reason, use our English site comfortably. By closing this, I'm not in any way negating that there are: Developers that ...

xD
And if I use the smaller version then it is... candy?!?
7:16 PM
@Yes I'm starting to get uncomfortable with all these different language SO's. I hope it doesn't start fragmenting the availability of information over time.
Although I guess if a question is good, at least one person will have it in each of the languages.
@JasonC It's unfair to force everyone to learn English just to be able to program.
I disagree. I think programmers should be forced to learn English, and women, minorities, and non-Catholics should not be allowed to participate on programming help sites.

Google probably has enough information and "agents" in place already to proceed with the necessary mercy killings.
user259867
Extensions could be less suspicious if there was a way to publish source code alongside the extension. As it is now, I can post the source somewhere but there is no way to tell if it's the same code I used in the extension.
@JasonC funny, what I'm reading is somehow related...
@JasonC They won't even need agents once self-driving cars hit the mainstream.
@Yes Google would have to provide the build system in order for that to be trustworthy, though. But that could be interesting.

@JasonC They sort of do already: the extension one uploads is just a .zip of source files. They pack it into .crx on their server. They should just add a checkbox: make the source code available.

@Braiam Nah, this is a person complaining 34 minutes ago. Better get popcorn: https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/d/msg/blink-dev/2LXKVWYkOus/uQHpFPbtiJI‌J
@JasonC still, I disagree with the idea behind the post and think the OP is turning something simple into something complicated with no proofs. And even if he's right, it does not justify the extreme measures suggested there.
@hichris123 Oh lord
Fact is, without being downvoted so much he would have never thought to post such thing.
7:56 PM
Yeah, no matter how you look at it it's a bad idea. I didn't really give any justice to the "why the idea is bad" in my post, which was already rambly and really just a big comment. I'm assuming that either a) somebody else will or b) nobody cares.
The whole "only show votes to the OP" thing is super misguided, too. He forgot that answers are supposed to help more than the OP.
Can anyone advice what to do here. Odata has been disabled in april 2015. But that doesn't by itself answer the question. Close as no longer repro? close, specific reason? something else?
@rene no repro seems to fit
> Changes to the system or to the circumstances affecting the asker have rendered it obsolete
OK
@rene Leave open because it's still a valid question about an obsolete technology? Give a useful answer that says "OData has been disabled, so you don't"? Seems like the latter would be more helpful than closing.
8:04 PM
helpful for who?
@JasonC Nah, the specifics for F# should go on SO anyway
@rene Close as duplicate of meta.stackexchange.com/questions/43991/… then leave an accurate comment on the original question?
@Braiam For anybody who looks at it.
@JasonC yeah, right, someone comes with the hope that that question will solve his problem just to be plastered in their faces "Just joking"... I don't think that's being helpful
@JasonC I know. It hurt to read it.
@Braiam You're right. "Closed as no longer reproducible" is clearer and has a higher informational content than "OData has been disabled and the endpoint no longer exists". Sorry I'm suck.
Anyways it's a duplicate.
