@AstroCB You can keep the dictionary in local storage, allowing for more to be added algorithmically. Not worth it in this case, but in principle.

Is this good?

Grr. When is auto-deletion going to be expanded to downvoted duplicates? It's been 9 months since that discussion.

Thank you!

which would be the same

@bjb568 quick, before nicael notices

I'm doing quick things now, but what should I do?

@bjb568 that'll be fixed when the election actually starts

-ms-filter, -moz-filter, and -o-filter don't do anything. You should check which vender prefixes actually are applicable instead of blindly applying many of them. — bjb568 6 secs ago

user259867
@bjb568 Additionally: an upvote to an answer to a closed question costs 1 rep.

@pizza why? Even closed questions have pearls.

user259867
@hichris123 Sure. 1 rep cost of downvotes on answers doesn't say "don't do it", but rather "think before you do". The same makes sense with upvoting answers to closed questions.

Agree.

9:39 PM
that feels like it would complicate the rep system more than it would discourage bad behavior; I can easily imagine people getting annoyed at the -1s if a question gets closed just as they start clicking on arrows

They can unclick.
WTH, autocarrot? How does unclick go to unblock?
It just attempted to carrot to unlike.

@pizza not... really...

Basically a repeat of the older answer with CSS thru jQuery.

9:54 PM
@bjb568 I'm not sure why it's accepted, but it's not really doing any harm; a lot of people just answer JS questions with jQuery by default.

> C# Ninjas Wanted
yay

It's assumed that if you're using that snippet in a larger project, you'll have jQuery in it anyway, and otherwise, it's not that big of a deal to convert it back to vanilla if you really want to.

@AstroCB IT'S A CSS QUESTION

@bjb568 It has the JS tag...

9:56 PM
So?
That doesn't mean it's appropriate.

@bjb568 It was tagged with jQuery and JavaScript.
What does that suggest the asker wants?

And obviously had nothing to do with jQuery.

> Unless a tag for a framework or library is also included, a pure JavaScript answer is expected for questions with the tag.
But...a tag for a framework was included, so a pure JS solution isn't expected.

@AstroCB Yes, so the answer was inappropriate which is why I dv'd.
@AstroCB No it's not.

@bjb568 But the OP included the jQuery tag.

9:59 PM
Erroneously. Which is why I edited it out, negating its effect.

@bjb568 I'm not entirely sure that's your decision to make.

As an editor, every edit is a decision for me to make.

FACE IT BJB, UNTIL U USE MORE JQUERY, NOBODY WILL LIKE U

NUUUUUUUUU
If you want to know what my rational is, which is a very good question:

@AstroCB IT'S A CSS QUESTION
2:
4 mins ago, by bjb568
And obviously had nothing to do with jQuery.

@bjb568 not. possible.

10:01 PM
You can't use the fact that the question doesn't have a tag as rationale if YOU'RE the one who edited out the tag...

3: Farts are funny, ha ha.

i.e. jQuery didn't help categorize the question because nothing in the question body indicated jQuery

@Doorknob Of course I can.

So lemme get this straight: we've been bikeshedding for the past 10-ish minutes, and no one has anything better to do?

10:02 PM
@hichris123 I just got here. :P

@Doorknob $(".leave").click();

It's like "don't use a version tag unless it's actually related to the question"

@bjb568 If this was on chat.SE, I would edit your message into "You're right" and then use that as an argument against you. (Unfortunately, this is chat.MSE :( )

@Doorknob + purge history.

Naturally.

10:03 PM
@JasonC The real question is: will 865bjb like him without jQuery?

@hichris123 I'm waiting for platanos to be ready

@Doorknob This is what I was trying to tell you, @bjb.

@hichris123 Nope.

@Braiam go... get more bananas? :P

Damn OP didn't write question properly.
Edited.

10:06 PM
@bjb568 In my original post I explained I only needed it to blur for a few seconds and asked for an answer incorporating jquery. — Snowlav 3 mins ago

@bjb568 you still didn't edit it correctly... the OP said "with jQuery for example". That means the answers could use jQuery, but don't have to since it's "for example".

Vindicated.
Oh, if you specifically needed a jQuery solution you should have made it clear in the question body. I have edited it for you. — bjb568 2 mins ago
^@bjb568 There was a jQuery tag.

oh well nevermind then.

@hichris123 "I… asked for an answer incorporating jquery"

@bjb568 I didn't see that comment.

10:07 PM
@AstroCB Not in question body.

...

@AstroCB Which he edited out because obviously he knows more about the OP's intentions than OP himself.

You will never see bjb write these words again.

> I was wondering if there was a way (with jquery for example) to blur an iframe for a few seconds

A: Is it OK to edit the question to change the author's intention

Shog9The amount of blind dogma being repeated in this thread is depressing... NO it's not appropriate to change a question such that it no longer reflects what the asker needed help with - but in order to edit effectively without doing that, you must first understand the intent of the author! How? Co...

10:08 PM
I want to add 1 + 1.
[html][javascript][jQuery][angular][node]
That can be interpreted as "the tags are wrong" or "the body is wrong".
Which has precedence?

Personally, I assumed the fact that OP accepted the jQuery answer meant that he did in fact want a jQuery answer

The best part is, in about, say, 1 hour, this question will effectively not exist due to nobody actually caring any more.

jQuery is the proper tag there.

So lemme get this straight: we've been bikeshedding for the past 10-ish minutes, and no one has anything better to do?

10:10 PM
@Braiam Seeing incorrect application of the tag many times, I assumed the first possibility (tags are wrong)

@hichris123 Ha

user259867
@hichris123 I have some grading to do, but that's not any better. Rather, worse.

Yay, nobody needs grades. Or just give everybody full credit.

I'm just reading and lurking in other SE chats

@bjb568 The body was ambiguous – not wrong. Not mentioning that you want a jQuery solution and using a jQuery tag is not the same as saying "I want a pure JS solution" and using a jQuery tag.

10:11 PM
@pizza You are providing your students valuable feedback on what they do and don't understand. Think of the children!

user259867
Think of my sanity! It can only handle so much.

@AstroCB The body was wrong. No library is assumed unless specifically requested.

@bjb568 ...via tags.

I do not edit that question because I simply don't understand from the context

No. Via post body.

"How can I do this with a jQuery crappyfunc?" is more specific than "uh… I may be using jQuery or just thot it's kewl or maybe it'll be relevant or something, IDK"
@AstroCB Yes.
