@Undo Deletion is more fun than I'd like to admit.

Hehe, isn't it though?

I need to install the auto-comments extension and load it up with stuff, when I get home.

@JeremyBanks I heard they give you a "Delete the internet" button. Is this truth?

Any room owners/superheroes feel like giving @Room explicit write access to this room? It won't say much.

You'll need a diamondy person to do that.

reputation is not a excuse to ignore/discredit anyones opinion

No, but I am inclined to respect his opinion as an experienced user, however wrong it may seem.
And he does have a point.

12:12 AM
Yeah, that's what both of you are doing at this point.

@Undo I fail to see how valid it is: if the concept is valid in some context it should convey the context where it's valid too, to prevent ambiguity on other contexts

Where is this?

I'm not saying I disagree with you. Or Hans.

hey @minitech, something happened with my last comment?

@Braiam I deleted it; please don’t be combative for no reason

@minitech so, how I can invite him into answering Shog's questions?
I wasn't being combative

@Undo oh, stop being so diplomatic. I disagree with all of you.

@Braiam “I see that is impossible to have a constructive critisism with you” is combative. Just don’t bother saying it and move on to the important parts.

Y'all are way too precious about tags. It's a folksonomy, not a card catalog

12:22 AM
@minitech eh, no, is just saying that I drop the towel
"I drop the towel, so answer this questions"
@Shog9 yay!

Still, don’t bother saying it

"Oh, deary me, this tag is completely obvious in context but I'm not familiar with that context so it scares me" - is it attracting huge steaming piles of bad questions? Is it causing fights between editors and authors? Is there any real problem here, ...or are you just bored.

It’s noise that detracts from what’s important – the meat, so to speak
The name of the site is meat.stackoverflow.com or something

@Shog9 I don't have classes until next week, so... yeah

6-8 hours, I suppose.

@Shog9 the system should suggest which tag I want next

Maybe it's not to late too seek a better world.
I think we had cucking-stools in junior high where I was reared.
We do offer daily enrichment courses in inincomprensibility and skewering repartee at the ELU Salon from 4 till 12 daily, hora colorada, except on Russian weekends and Orthodox days of flagellation and penitence.
It's important to leave no meaningless typos.
That the meanful ones can thereby speak volumes.

@Braiam you should post it as one

@Braiam Badger?
You mean it should suggest a tag badge you should work for?

I love that morning, after I get a cold, when I wake up and the cold is gone. I always feel ready to take on the world. For like an hour. Then I pass out in bed.
But that hour is a good hour.

take a kilogram of vitamin C

Yeah I've been popping vitamin C and zinc like candy.
My only issue now is I ran out of tissue and had to resort to paper towels, and pretty much sanded my nose off my face. I look like Braiam now, but without sunglasses.

@yellowantphil Nah, just your own.

I need to find more of @tchrist's messages with weird unicode.

1:46 AM
I’m sure someone will volunteer some weird unicode for you
^ this being the typical use of “sure” to mean “not sure at all”

@hichris123 As there is no Unicode character property named "weird" to test for, so your search is likely doomed to failure.

@yellowantphil you just used a slanty apostraphy and curly quotes

@tchrist Okay, *random Unicode characters

Q: Weird (unicode?) characters

user1960364A user has been posting some weird characters on my site and I'd like to block them from doing so but without blocking characters used in foreign languages... Therefore, using a regex such as [a-z0-9!@#$%^&*()...] isn't an option. Could someone explain to me what is happening here, a break down...

1:49 AM
@bjb568 I didn’t think those were weird enough to qualify for hichris’s purposes

Q: Generate random UTF-8 string in Python

l0b0I'd like to test the Unicode handling of my code. Is there anything I can put in random.choice() to select from the entire Unicode range, preferably not an external module? Neither Google nor StackOverflow seems to have an answer. Edit: It looks like this is more complex than expected, so I'll r...

I'm trying to make sure this kinda works.
For instance, this now renders:

𣐣𣪪荳ሶꪻ

^ some of the characters I typed are probably invalid

1:50 AM
@yellowantphil Last one seems to be invalid?

򻮻񄑄񕕕񦙦
I’m just typing random code points. probably not even hitting encoded characters

I don't think so. :P

🌲🈢🀂
^ those three display for me

ooh, those all render.

1:52 AM
did you fix it?

@yellowantphil Well kinda. :P My fix currently requires --no-sandbox... which means it's not really a fix. More likely a bug in the Skia method, but...

put in a private-use area Klingon font fallback
  
^ should not render properly without a pIqaD font

Yeah, it doesn't render properly.

How do you make Unicode? Did you copy/paste or use SE chat?

witchcraft

1:54 AM
I don’t think SE has any unicode features

@bjb568 BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!!1

Basically, what my fix does is use an existing Skia method to say "Hey, do we have a font that matches the character ___?" If we do, the method says "Yes! Here's the font family that supports it!".

very sensible

ty for changing name back @bjb

@yellowantphil Not my idea, someone else's. :P But it works.
kinda.

1:56 AM
@hichris123 I think fontconfig prefers long strings of text all in the same font, if multiple fonts match some characters
but I don’t really know
 ← if you think it doesn’t render, then it actually does

Huh. I'm curious how the Skia method chooses which font to use, maybe it chooses the most popular one.

I have never heard of Skia

@yellowantphil What... is it?
The Skia Graphics Engine is a compact open source graphics library written in C++. It was originally developed by Skia Inc., which was subsequently acquired by Google in 2005, who then released the software as open source licensed under the New BSD free software license. Now known as Skia, it is currently used in Google Chrome, Chrome OS, Chromium OS, Mozilla Firefox, Android (although partially superseded by libhwui starting with Android 3.0), Firefox OS, and Sublime Text 3. The Skia library is also present on the BlackBerry PlayBook, though the extent of its usage is unclear. Skia has several...
