Animuson got hired!

Congrats @animuson!

Oh, everybody has ignored me, of course.
@Woodface I just noticed there's a review history link :p

Should all the controls always be there for consistency, but greyed out when not applicable?
Should I ask ^ on UXSE?

Yes.

yea, use proper english though

My infinite wisdom has answered your question. Go forth kitteh and be productive!
And do.. whatever it is you're doing.

@Woodface wait, where'd you find his title?

@Roombatron5000 animuson has taken over the Community User?

user259867
@hichris123 At twitter.com/animuson

@Woodface where did you see animuson's ? i couldn't find him on about page yet

@Roombatron5000 ^^^^

user259867
The combination of "specialist" and "operations" sounds ominous.

Rumour has it, when Shog was a young lieutenant, it was his assignment to Special Operations that resulted in his severed head.
2

so this must mean they'll need to have an SO election soon, since animuson won't be able to help out as much there now

Well, we are having elections in April.

like who would want to go clean the floors of their workplace after they clock out?

12:29 AM
animuson, obviously.

"Community Growth Operations Specialist (animuson)" - Is he like, special ops, but instead of killing you he makes you exercise and drink a lot of milk or something?

@JasonC it means he hooks up stack exchange users to go on dates, that will hopefully lead to a baby, thus growing the community

Nice. Does he use CloudFlare for that?

Q: Should controls be removed or just greyed out in a tool for power-users where they repeat many times?

bjb568This answer by JohnGB on "Greyed-Out vs Invisible" by Joel B kind of touches on the idea, but this question focuses specifically on a moderation tool for power users. Should buttons that don't apply (e.g. voting to delete a post that's already deleted) be greyed out or completely removed? The sc...

Have any of you guys ever used an induction cooker? I just got one out of curiosity to compare to my gas range. I can't decide how I feel about it.
The results are in. It's the awesomest thing ever.
Turns out they make kick-ass deep fryers

12:37 AM
/me wants a induction cooktop.

@bjb568 What's crappy about it?

I dunno. I just assume I can't write well.
I got an 89% last quarter
so cloose :(

@ɥʇǝS The counter top ones are super affordable (amazon.com/1800-Watt-Portable-Induction-Cooktop-Countertop/dp/…), but you'll probably want to invest in some tri-clad pots and pans. Or if you have a cast iron pan.

@hichris123 ...

But the gas range is still unrivaled for searing, or at least I'm really used to it, I rarely use the pan on it. It's great for boiling water, heating oil, making pasta.

12:39 AM
@JasonC hey that's not bad!

@bjb568 That means you only 11% suck at writing. Seems reasonable. I'm sure @tchrist would be happy to convert your quote marks for you though.

my… quote marks?

@JasonC animuson has a wish list

Like just now after digging up that link for Seth I've purchased, uh, a watering fountain for the cats, two oven mitts, and a 20-pack of RJ45 connectors. Help.
I don't even remember clicking anything. I think it just confirms your purchase on mouse over.

@undo now smokey could just ping @animuson each time?

Morning

since Shog's post on MSO, I'd think it's a comment since it's a shaky attempt to answer (e.g. "try fooing the bar"), but if I remove the "try", it's an answer albeit low-quality (by definition of VLQ)
