@Bart: This:
Thanks for copying my answer. — hannesvdvreken 28 mins ago

Did you? If not, meh, and move on
Ah, including credit I see. Glanced over that.
Fair enough.

I didn't. As you can see in the comments under the questions, I was interacting with the user from the beginning itself.
Also, this:
@AmalMurali - well to be honest actually it does.. I am using carbon date time as I already mentioned in the question. But you were also correct . There was a trailing space and trimming it really helped. If you can post your reply as an answer I will mark that as an answer while I will upvote hannesvdvreken's answer — Gagan 39 mins ago

Yeah, I'd say move on. You even included credit, so even "legally" you're just fine.

Yeah, I already did a "meh" before :P

6:03 PM
But seeing as this guy is somewhat new here, I thought it'd be a good idea to link him to a Meta post :)

it's even plain and simple TOS stuff. All content is CC-BY-SA
So you need to attribute it (even on the site) if you use part of it, but that's abou t it.

I can imagine his frustration. The OP didn't accept his answer, plus he got downvoted. :P

yeah
Hey Amal !
How are you doing

Given a narrow enough problem people are going to give answers that resemble one another. One has to get over it.

Hey hey, @TGMCians! I'm doing good. Thanks. you?
@Louis++

6:07 PM
@AmalMurali Plus I got like 6 not constructive comment flags out of that post.

I am also good, doing good

6:19 PM
@TGMCians: Great. :)
Did anyone here participate in Google Code Jam? I missed it :(

code jam?

huh, looks neat

yep. But you can't participate without qualifying the first round (which is already over) ;/

6:38 PM
Unless you hack the contest ..... at which point you win I guess.
2

yay for hacking Google!

AH. Why didn't I think of that before?!
You may even get hired!

7:00 PM
sigh... stackoverflow.com/questions/23067276/… can we have a new flag option: A guess is not an answer?
I'm out of close votes...

@rene A guess is an answer. A wrong answer is still an answer. For that, up/down votes will do the talking depending on the correctness.
That's a crap question, though.

Yeah...true...

I always forget how cool Java annotations are. I just wrote some example annotation usage in an answer and it reminded me. This is why I answer Java questions here despite being a C++ programmer, it keeps my Java fresh.

7:20 PM
also, the question looks unanswerable to me
err... I mean, flag the answer please

7:49 PM
Oy.

Ehm .... a user insults another user in another language and has a profile indicating as much .... and yet my offensive flag gets declined?
Hmm, gone now anyway. Ah well

@Bart maybe a custom flag explaining the translated meaning would be indicated?

Myeah, perhaps. Or it got some other weird flags as well that needed to be declined?
Anyway, post is gone, account is nuked, all is well

I've been using custom flags on NAA cases that look like actual answers but are not actual answers once one has read the question.

@bluefeet The translation of http://stackoverflow.com/a/23063618/616460, at least according to Google, is "Steffan you are so much sh*t, I'm happy not to be you!" - plus the OP's original user name was "Class A B*tch" and the about box said something rude about Steffan (Steffan being the name of the question OP). I think that "rude/offensive" flag was more than warranted there (and the content should've been blown away offensive/spam style, too).
@Bart ^

7:54 PM
Ah yep, that's the one

HAIL 'MURICA!

Let's bring back some class in this Tavern

Happy Passover, for whoever celebrates it! :-)

B&H is .... /me shakes fist in anger.
That's usually the only reason I know about those holidays

8:10 PM
B&H? Bacon and Ham?

Haha, now that would be awkward ...

@Bart That is so awesome!
@Bart You live in NYC too? Yes, B&H is sad times during passover.

No, I live in Geneva, Switzerland. But it's often cheaper to buy at B&H, even with import taxes.

Oh that's right they sell online.
You should see the actual store, it's completely insane.

Yep ... evil evil company ... taking all our money

8:12 PM
It's actually my favorite store ever, haha.

I was told. Colleagues of mine went there when they were in NY
They do have a strange rule though. You can't buy more than 25 cameras at the same time .... don't know what that is about.

Conveyor belts moving stuff everywhere, through the counters behind glass windows, the whole place is a machine, and they have everything.
That is weird, I wonder why.

Might be some strange international trade restrictions ... who knows
Or they just don't have that many clients who try to order 64 cameras at the same time

@Bart Nope they seem to have that limit even for within the US. It also looks like it depends on the camera. bhphotovideo.com/c/product/893196-REG/… has a limit of 10. The little Canon point-and-shoots stopped me at 25.
(Yes I just tried to order $1.3 million USD worth of cameras from B&H.)

Yeah, we bought a crapton of A 1400 cameras

8:17 PM
@Bart awesome. just awesome.
I'd love to see some CAD documents of that piece...

It's just amazing.
Not as insane as some of the stuff in the watch museum over here, but still pretty damn cool.

@ThiefMaster They snuck a little British burn in there, lol.

Q: Operation 'Split, All The Metas!' Shall Commence On April 16, 2014

Tim PostNot all of them mind you, just Meta Stack Overflow into Meta Stack Exchange. I'll have you know, factually, that we really did believe this would take place in six-to-eight weeks when it was originally announced, but we've finally got a tentative date established. If things go according to plan...

^ 2 days! :D

edit: apologies, that should have read 2015
2
Do we get a migration path to migrate mistaken code questions on Meta SE to Meta SO?
2

Do "Where do I ask <X>?* questions go on SO meta or SE meta after the split?

8:28 PM
Time reminds me:
> How often each app is updated can vary, but "six to eight weeks is pretty typical," Burke tells us.
So... are SE and Google the one and same?

Because there's going to be a ton of migrations for those questions from SO -> SE; new users go to SO meta to post those and I imagine they'll continue to do so, split or not (mostly because there's very little reason to just hang out on SE -- those users hit SO then go to the nearest meta).

The problem with 6-8 weeks is that on occasion I jokingly tell co-workers or clients that it will be done in 6-8 weeks .... which they then expect to happen.

@Bart Tell them "I'll have a detailed timetable ready for you in 6-8 weeks."
They'll nod in agreement then slowly realize what you said long after you leave the room.

:)

8:58 PM
it is quite shocking high-rep users answer such questions.
(but perhaps this is why they are high-rep as one said the other day ... )

That's how you got your 14k ;)

oh, I have 14k.

You're in no position to play the "damn high rep users" card any more. :p

My god it's full of brackets! — Captain Obvlious 1 min ago

That accurately sums up my first impression.

9:09 PM
@hichris I started working on that deleted question dumper thing I mentioned earlier I might make :P
It's in Perl, and it's the first Perl thing I've ever written! :P

Ooh, yay! :D

Obviously, it's not perfect yet, as you can see :P
I just have it set to dump the text right now
It's Perl, so it's 33 lines of code (including empty lines and comments). :D

@Doorknob cgi-bin? Windows server?

@Undo No, it's some sort of unix
I'm just using CGI because I'm a Perl noob :P

9:38 PM
Well I have to go. I'll fix that later.

one more close vote for the above :P

err, what the heck is this? stackoverflow.com/q/3134928/792066

wow, there is a site dedicated to tex.

Er... @Shog9 did you fix the neverending Recommend deletions? This review has a positive score, 6 recommend deletions, the review has been completed, but it isn't deleted.

@hichris123 yes
If they hit the threshold now, the review completes immediately and a flag is raised asking a moderator to review the situation.

9:50 PM
Ah, okay.

mm... then in which cases it actually gets handled by the community?
(without moderator involved)

@Braiam When the score is less than or equal to 0.

@Braiam post scores <= 0, gets threshold delete votes/recommendations OR post scores anything gets other threshold Looks Good reviews.
@JasonC first you post a "where do I ask where do I ask questions?" question on MSE, then, depending on the answer to that...

That's one confusing sentence right there.

@3ventic'sShadow what did you expect of Shog?

9:54 PM
Okay that's creepy.

Shog is the master of riddles and confusion

Where is it D:

you are ignoring me?

no
I can see the rest of your messages, just not that one..
...and I don't have anyone ignored

@3ventic ping

Osake-yhtiö?

@3ventic'sShadow ... translate?

10:05 PM
Ah. :P
Osakeyhtiö literally a "stock company", is the Finnish equivalent of a limited company (Ltd or LLC) or Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung (GmbH). It is abbreviated to Oy and is used either before or after the company's name, sometimes with the addition of (or replaced by) the Finland-Swedish equivalent Ab. (In Sweden, the abbreviation is written AB.) Although some, especially larger, Finnish companies now use English as their corporate language (with Nokia being the most notable example), most Finnish companies use only Oy in the company name. If a company uses both Finnish and Swed...
^ Or Stock company.

well, yeah
probably should check wikipedia/wiktionary first
There's an English wikipedia page for it? o.O

Apparently. :P

Apparently it's a bit different from the "joint-stock company"

10:56 PM
@Shog9 In reality, a new user would post that question on the meta of whatever site they just created a new account on, not on MSE, of course. Unless it was naturally easier to navigate to MSE than to M-wherever.

11:08 PM
Of course, @Jason - hence the joke. There can't be one official place for such questions.
