@hichris123 Wow.. that question stackoverflow.com/questions/15893900/… must have the right keywords, too bad it's probably a duplicate. Should that question be closed though?

12:48 AM
This must mean something profound

Nintendo really hasn't implemented an auto-save yet? -.- Well that's 4 hours of my life literally wasted.

@Doorknob You spend too much time on PP&CG?

@animuson You could have spent those 4 hours deleting crap on SO! For shame... :P

@hichris123 done

@michael Lol, but really, the 42 and the pattern... it must have a meaning! :-O

1:01 AM
hey good morning

digitroot(12) + 3 * 13 = 42
2 * digitroot(12) = digitroot(42)
3 * 13 + 2 * 12 - backwards(12) = 42

Heh. From Wolfram Alpha I suppose? ;-)

@Doorknob Nope, those three were pulled out of my skull.

Nice. :-)

backwards(13) + 12 - (13 - 12) = 42

1:04 AM
On a related note, happy cot(.3) day!

@michaelb958 PCG is fun

@Doorknob You Americans and your stupid mixed-endian dates...

:-D

@TimWolla Throwaway humour is not to be over-analysed, or it might stop being humour (or throwaway, for that matter).

Pi day gets so much attention, but nobody ever talks about poor little cot(.3) day... :-(

1:07 AM
@Doorknob All those popcon gets to much attention.
Popcon, Popcorn – know the difference

Happy tan(1.53) day from Australia!
(Or almost 1.53, anyway. It's about two months off.)
Okay, make that tan(1.5292). (Just isn't so memorable...)

4 days, 3 weeks, 2 months, 1 year... what's the difference?

Time is an artificial construct anyway.
Oops, I'm getting philosophical. I'm going to go clear my mental state - back in an indeterminate amount of time.

I wonder if I can get the National Treasure movies on Amazon Instant Video...
Holy crap Amazon Prime doesn't give you shit on here...
Can I watch the standard definition one for free? :(
Oh but they have Duck Dynasty on here. Haha. Who the hell wants to watch that garbage?
:O They have Danny Phantom!

@Timw I don't otherstand at all, really.

me same

I asked him
Let's see

Is it ok to post an off-topic question and add a bounty to it so that it can't even be closed? This one asks for "specifically looking for a single-page, print-formatted guide that I could hang in the office, rather than an SO answer"

It is our fault, as we did not close it yet.

1:32 AM
I flagged it for mod attention a few days back.

We only use the sledgies in extreme circumstances.

I'm yet to receive my first one :(
All those people with questions already have one.

@TimWolla Do a lot of edits! (I just got Copy Editor) :P

@timw You can do it! How many helpful flags do you have?

121 helpful ones

Hmmm. Marshal probably isn't a good one for you to pursue right now, then :/

I'm going for Great answer
Only 20 upvotes left :-)
And I don't even have to do something to get it. Perfect for lazy people!

1:54 AM
I saw that! It is a good answer, imho.

Actually I don't really understand why it got +80. It is a quick read in the manual. Or a quick trying-it-out.

Gah. I just found the perfect duplicate target, and
> Questions cannot be duplicates of themselves

hahaha
I already noticed that Google is pretty fast.
> Tim doing a quick search on Google

The question was about 3 minutes old.

@timw You miss out on all of the question badges if you don't ask any, so that may be what is dragging you down?

@BlueIce I cannot think of any good question that wouldn't be a dup. Everything's answered somewhere on SO.

1:59 AM
@timw Anything obscure or brainfuck is a good start :)

@BlueIce Nah. And actually I understand Brainfuck.

Got some popcorn. Now I'm gonna relax and watch whatever movie I picked out moments ago and forget already.

@timw Wow! Everyone else doesn't seem to have time for it :p
@animuson Give us the play-by-play, please!

@BlueIce It is not that hard with those 8 little operators.

@Timw Night.

@JoshCrozier It may just be a link-only answer.

@JoshC Maybe. It's not really a good answer, but it's kind of weird that a spammer would reference a relevant article from 2000.

That is spam: it's trying to get you to email some guy, and no doubt he wants money for the service.

Yes, I'd also call it spam, generally speaking, but the "... with no disclosure" in the spam flag description makes me unsure. Guess cases like this can be considered corner cases where one should not look B/W at it.

We don't allow babies on SE sites, right? So this should be off-topic. The OP wants to be guided like a baby.
CV please.

@devnull no question is too basic, though sometimes it's unclear where exactly the asker is stuck.

@JanDvorak I quoted from the question. 'The problem is that i am very new to bash program and want someone to guide me "like a baby" to accomplish this task step by step since i dont understand the code he wrote for me.'

sounds like too broad, then

Thanks.

7:26 AM
Why do people upvote questions that nothing more than typographical errors?

@JanDvorak is gone now

Especially after the OP accepts an answer!

@devnull although the not accepted answer is not original it does explain how the regex works. You don''t see that very often...

Crap questions don't really justify crap close reasons.

@ShadowWizard it was the troll

@ShadowWizard While this one is about converting a regexp from one language to the other, it's another example of asking to translate code. I'm not sure if that is not horrible. YMMV.

@rene wow, he got big balls I'll give him that!

Hey guys don't ask me how, but I stumbled over a piece of nostalgia just now
Anyone here know the game? @SPArchaeologist? ;)

@ShadowWizard Death Knights of Krynn
You had to way to figure that out
first, you could notice the "Kyrnn" reference in the text
second, you could just search for the above quote on google :P

9:07 AM
lol
But question is @SPArchaeologist did you play the game, or other game in the trilogy?

@ShadowWizard nope. Searched for, but at the time finding the Dragonlance games was an adventure in itself.
And the Death Gate one was even worse to find.

@SPArchaeologist I played all three when I was 14 or so, but for the life of me can't remember how I got the games

9:56 AM
@ShadowWizard only book related game that I had was the Shannara one. Not bad but the ending was depressing.

I predict a corporate merging between Hasbro and Stack
SO will undergo a change. New name will be My Little Stack: Answers are magic
@ShadowWizard based on the trend, I could bet it will be something unicorn -related

11:21 AM
@SPArchaeologist not sure, last year it got no unicorns at all
Just a highly irritating AI

11:34 AM
@ShadowWizard Maybe the prank is that software recommendation will go out of beta

The prank is removing close votes & del votes for the day

There's something odd about that MichaelMackus account. Asked good questions on SO, but hasn't been there since November 2012. His activity on MSO is remarkable compared to that. meta.stackoverflow.com/users/256309/michaelmackus?tab=activity He also posted some silly answer but it's been removed.

@ShadowWizard @SuhosinPony Insanity effects like eternal darkness? Using fake and disappearing questions to confuse people. You see a spam mess, you click it and the text changed, you start to look for edit and dates are in the future....
maybe some random quote from that question flying around every now and then
flip some avatar upside down, generate negative rep scores
fake notifications of rep changes that brings nowhere

@Stijn yeah, odd indeed. Nothing odd in not being active on SO, many users are just lurkers, or just become such after a while, but one of his comments on Meta makes no sense.
@SPArchaeologist sounds just fine... combined with random Zalgo text! ;)

@Stijn And then there's another inactive account stackoverflow.com/users/569352/michael-mackus

12:10 PM
I'm thinking in the direction of a hijacked email account.

@Stijn not sure, what answer he posted on Meta? You kept a link?

I still have meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/2950/… from the front page, perhaps you can see the answer.

@Bart oh, lol... didn't even bother to look at the display name when commenting on that. However, @Stijn that's not spam or even odd, just an unfunny joke, in my opinion.
If I'm correct and the above ^^^ is him as well, it's just a case of using mutliple accounts, maybe by mistake or maybe not.

@Shadow yeah it's probably nothing at all, just the difference between his SO activity and MSO activity looked weird to me.
I'm probably seeing ghosts :
:)

12:21 PM
@ShadowWizard that was implicit :P If you remember that question, it already has zalgo everywhere.
@ShadowWizard bonus points if they include in the floating text some rimes like "She's an evil enchantress | she do evil dances | and if you look in her eyes | she will put you in trance"

@rene you here?
If so, take a look in this if you have a moment. :)

A: WCF sending large (>90Mb) XML files from client to third party via WCF service

stackoverflow.com/posts/22617817/revisions "Oh look, a 'pig' tag! How thoughtful of these guys to create custom tags for questions about specific farm animals!" thought the OP, rationally.

Hahaha, awesome. I'm tempted to revise it to an Apache pig epidemic.

@Bart Haha, do it. Sorry, I was out Googling for libraries named "Bird" and "Swine".
@Braiam Good call. Stop a epidemic in its tracks. I like that it is now the canonical "pig question".
Of course, this won't help stop mistagging of legitimate questions about fishpigs.

7:07 PM
I should so release my simulation framework as Open Source @JasonC. It's named Threads. I'd love to see the tag clusterfrick that will happen if there are ever questions about it.

@Bart And the Google sh*tshow too. It could be worse, you could have come up with an outlandishly complicated, industy-standard communication and bus protocol and named it "CAN".

That would be as big a mess as when Facebook were to ever create a language named Hack @JasonC, but that will never ..... ah wait ...

@Bart There really needs to be an Apache Facepalm.

Is there a support group for people addicted to that 2048 game?

Yeah it's called Candy Crush.

I thought I was going to quit playing after I got to 2048, but now I'm just trying to beat my post-2048-tile scores.

I haven't made it to 2048 yet. I was one tile away...literally, I needed a 4, got a 2. End of game. My poor tablet got tossed on the floor.

@JasonC Ah, like methadone. Ween me off 2048 with Candy Crush.
@Andy Wow! That would be really frustrating.

7:57 PM
Which I hate by the way; I wish they'd undo all the rep on that question and community wiki it.
@jadarnel27 Yeah the goal is to eventually work you down to Tetris, then the problem becomes manageable.

I like it.
I just got fairly close to getting a second 2048 tile in one game.

Just play blip blup @jadarnel27.

Nice try, @Bart.
> BLIP BLUP is an addictive conundrum of coloration that will consume your thoughts and occupy your dreams.
That sounds even worse!

There was this game, on Android at least, called "Seven" I think (impossible to find now, it's a tough search term), where you had to drag little numbered blobs around to make them add up to 7. That was a good one. Mindless + one click between "game over" and "restart".

@jadarnel27 dangit

And sparkly animations and sounds worthy of a slot machine.
blip blup is awesome

@jadarnel you better not convince me to play blip blup :) I haven't even heard of it

Up to you @BlueIce ... boy this is fun .... what a game .... and I can quit if I want to. I just don't want to.
If I were you @jadarnel27, I would NOT play Blip Blup. But then again, you don't strike me as the kind of person who gets told what not to do.

...it takes all your bad feelings and turns them into good feelings...it's a nightmare.

@jadarnel No, I think you are talking about alcohol.

No. That takes all your bad feelings and turns them into unconsciousness. Or...that's how it always worked for me. Maybe I was doing it wrong.
