@hichris123 It does not look that bad... compared to things like this

1:23 AM
@balpha promise it's not a boring random character string?

I'm sure I reported a Data-explorer bug re sorting by clicking on column titles, and I believe it was reported to be fixed in the "next" build, but it can still be seen in data.stackexchange.com/stackoverflow/query/36599/… . This was a while ago and I'm more interested in locating my notes on meta than confirming it is not fixed or the fix not released.
However I've just been called to lunch, so I won't be responding soon!

@MarkHurd I'm assuming it's one of these?

Is locked question cannot be edited by anyone, including mod?

@AndrewT. They can be edited by ♦ moderators, but nobody else

Ok, thanks.

@bjb568 I only added a snowflake thingy. Also, what's an ELI5?

@Doorknob冰 Oh, not you. ELI5 = explain as if I had the background knowledge of the supposed average human aged 5 earth-sun cycles.

@WarmFuzzies Of course, @TimStone is the answer to life, the universe, and everything. Didn't you know?

Although that sounds like a lot of responsibility...I'm not sure about this.

@TimStone Do you just always have a Tavern tab open?

@hichris123 I do.
I always have a TL, a PPCG chat, a Puzzling chat, a Tavern, a Charcoal, and a Puzzling mods tab open.

1:58 AM
@hichris123 I do!
I have...
14 chat tabs open at the moment
And by the moment I mean like 95% of the time.

@TimStone How many total tabs? Do you need tab managment? :P

I have 87 tabs open

@Doorknob冰 I do when I'm on the computer (TL, Tavern, Charcoal). But I shut this computer down everyday!
@TimStone Yep. Do you use AnnoTab?

I do not

ManishearthUpdate: I published this extension here. So I just created a quick extension that does this: AnnoTabe For now, you have to install it by downloading a crx from here. Since Chrome doesn't allow directly installing crx files, you'll have to drag-drop the downloaded file to the extensions settings...

What if someone uses a temporary email to create their SE account, and the email goes unvalid and SE doesn't accept it? Can the user recover their account?

The difference between keynote and powerpoint.

@Frank Do you mean registered or unregistered account?

Registered is all about openid. Unregistered, bah, who cares about them? (they just use cookies)

user259867
If it's unreg user, then need to keep either SE cookie or valid email. If both are lost, the account is lost.

Q: Is it time for us to disallow challenge-only questions?

EmrakulThere have been countless questions recently that don't live up to Stack Exchange's quality standards. We have a responsibility as members of the Stack Exchange network site to live up to the quality standards SE expects. We need to do something to fix our question quality. This is that something...

Granted, I have hidden that sidebar long time ago... but it's there in the HTML page anyway. :[

4:38 AM
Has somebody created a good SE viewer without the crap from API? Like responsive, no distractions like sidebar, etc.

@WarmFuzzies MSO posts are more entertaining than meta.math posts too, especially the ones that are about abuse of power or nazis.

user259867
@bjb568 API has very limited search functionality, making it useless unless you just want to stream the newest or active questions.

You were a victim of having an unhelpful comment that no longer applied deleted? — minitech ♦ 2 hours ago

@WarmFuzzies Ah.
DD will have everything available in the API!

user259867
I use API for my review page (which is how I get to see the newest crap on SO): it catches posts by 1 rep users, posts with downvotes, closevotes, and some patterns in titles.

user259867
4:41 AM
For this purpose, it works quite well.

"posts by 1 rep users, posts with downvotes, closevotes"
Do you need API for that? I see those everywhere on SO by default.

I don't get the whole thing about APIs and stuffs. Like… make a simple thing for people (i.e. browsers, users, apps, whatever) to use. Like for everything. IDK why not. And IDK why there's usually a separate API thing and normal-browser thing.

user259867
@InfiniteRecursion I mean only those posts.

user259867
Normal browser thing is for human users. API is for robots, like you and me.

Q: Annual New Year crowdfunding campaigns

user132181Idea: Math.SE sets up annual New Year crowdfunding campaigns which last, say, a month, and the money raised is then split up proportionally (to users' reputation points aquired since the beginning of the last year) between, say, Top-10 users and sent to them via, say, PayPal. This would be a nic...

user259867
That did not go over well.

This reminds me of the old joke about a shepherd who asked three people to build a pen in the most efficient way possible. On day 1, the physicist builds a perfectly circular fence to give the sheep plenty of room to move. On day 2, the engineer builds a square pen of equal area. Since the fence only has four posts, it can be built much more cheaply despite the longer perimeter. On day 3, the farmer returns to find sheep roaming everywhere and the mathematician standing in the middle of the field, wrapped in wire. user259867
So many queues... so few votes

Nightlings!
Is that a thing?
Whatever. Night!

Yes, more cleanup to do, but no more cv's for us. I will write an FR when I get time. How can we moderate in triage without extra cv's? :(
Night bjb
The triage looks similar to the low quality hq feedbacks and the Smokey feedbacks we give, human verification of bot results

5:02 AM
Actually, very similar to Pham, who reports everything above a threshold for human verification. Which is a good thing.

user259867
The bots are predecessors of the triage filtering algorithm.

user259867
Hm... does this mean they will become obsolete now?

Yes, but Pham has only trustworthy approvers, which makes it so reliable.
No, I am not very optimist about the triage, wrong reviews means incorrect calibration

user259867
They are probably not going to take much feedback from reviewers, instead retuning the filter based on the actual fate of the posts.

Sounds like reviewers aren't giving feedback to the ML algorithms yet.

5:08 AM
Then it's good.

Morning!

Also, I fear that the real caretakers who close many questions won't have cv's left for the triage, so maybe there will be more robos there who don't cv much

/me was already disappointed by some obvious OT questions being marked 'Looks OK'

5:27 AM
I haven't seen one of my reviews in triage, where all the users choose the same thing. Very small sample, like 10.

I had a couple out of my 20 for the day.

@WarmFuzzies apparently meta.anime did a similar thing, although I don't know the result

The problem is, there is no hard guideline between choosing these options.. or at least I'm still unclear when to choose what, excepts "Looks OK" or "Skip"

user259867
That's why it should be a slider instead of the discrete options. Questions naturally form a continuous spectrum.

Unsalvagable if the post is something you know is doomed based on your time here. If it qualifies for cv-pls, it's unsalvagable @AndrewT.

It could be a side effect: new queue, featured on meta => more users click Review => more reviewers in every queue, not just Triage.

user259867
But to my understanding FP will be scrapped when Triage + NI are fully in place. Right now some percentage of posts by new users are channeled into Triage; I presume in lieu of being in FP.

@AnnaLear Did you / SE disable the block for "help" in titles on SO?

user259867

user259867
My guess is that the block is removed so that these keywords send questions into triage instead...

There was a block for that? AFAIK, those are pretty restricted (as in, only apply at the start or end of the title). Can look tomorrow to see what actually happened.

Grrrr... got my first declined flag today. :-( Sigh.

I've no idea if any blacklist changes were made to pave way for Triage.. I don't think so, but I'm not on that project.
@WilliamPrice First time for everything.

I see. Experimentally, "question, doubt, problem, and help" were blocked, and I think it was regardless of position: just the containment check.

user259867
Nope, I take that back: Help is blocked as the first word. Never mind then.

There's several different ways we block things. Help/problem/etc are hardcoded and looked for in a certain position, if memory serves. It's almost 2am, so you should trust almost nothing I say. (Even less than usual. ;))
