@AnnaLear around?

@ɥʇǝS ish. what's up?

@AnnaLear I asked a question through the Android app 25 minutes ago but haven't been awarded the hat for that. I just realized it might be because the post hasn't received an upvote (hadn't thought of that a few minutes ago) but I wanted to make sure it wasn't because I was using the alpha version of the app.
That wouldn't effect delivery of the hat would it?

It shouldn't... Did you ask through the new tablet version or the phone app? I'm not sure they're tracked differently off the top of my head, but maybe they are.

user259867
@ɥʇǝS Implicit quality requirement, I guess. Need an upvote.

@AnnaLear The phone app.
i.e. not on a tablet.
@Behaviour That's what I kinda figured (after I pinged Anna)

3:12 AM
It's also not instant. It took me a bit to get the apple hat for voting on something through the app.
let me know if you still don't have it on Monday

hm ok. Usually hats have been delivered within 5 minutes so I didn't wait much longer.
@AnnaLear Cool will do. I'll belay the notification though if the post hasn't received an upvote by then.

I'm on mobile right now so can't check if upvotes are a part of the criteria. No idea off-hand. :)

ok. Thanks for helping!

LifeHacks, WorldBuilding and other nonsense like PeopleHelped properly belong to Stack Exchange 3.0, another stage of life of the network. It may be inevitable (we all die), but it'd be nice to have SE 3.0 sites somehow separate.

user259867
@JanDvorak Maybe not bad, but different from what SE used to be. On SE 3.0, objective correctness is no longer expected; it's about feelings and appearances. When a CM says that illusion is more important than any semblance of accuracy, that's SE 3.0 mindset in action.

PPCG is SE 2.5, then, I guess?

@Behaviour But I thought we're optimizing for pearls, not sand?

^
WB has plenty of pearls

user259867
@Unihedro But now a pearl means "nice to look at", not "correct" or "useful".

Oh.

> Flowers... are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

PPCG is a mix of code-golf, fastest-code etc. (objective) and pop-contest (subjective). It falls into neither SE 2.0 nor SE 3.0

user259867
Yes, that was the transition phase.

Not really. Plenty of SE 3.0 sites predate PCG

Q: Should audits include can't-be-reproduced/typo closures?

Nathan TuggyRecently ran into a first post audit for a question on SO that was closed (and deleted) as being caused either by a typo or some sort of heisenbug. I don't know which, but the important thing is that there is, by definition, no way to tell in review that a question is no longer reproducible witho...

cc @inf

I can't see the answer (if any), am a low-rep user. So no comments on the audit. The question is terrible and my cv is valid IMO.

@bummi: you say _has_ to be deleted, but Jeff disagrees: and _might_ need to be removed.. Either way, this is hijacking, the point I am trying to make is that moderators should not penalize contributors in such cases. I would say it is even "helpful", but again, dispute at worst. At the last such actions, I stayed away for 2-3 months from reviewing causing about 5000-10000 reviews missed for SO due to declines. Worth it? — lpapp 38 mins ago

Well, it's 25¢ for individual gum balls from the machines which accept a quarter. Bulk ordering is the way to go of course for larger investments.

@bjb568 You should buy enough gumballs to last your whole life while you're at it, to maximize your bulk discount and minimizing the cost overall, as you'll counter inflation.
Good idea, right?

@Unihedro gumballs do have expire time though

@ShadowWizard wat

@Unihedro you have to consider the cost of storage, transport to new places you go, depreciation (chewing some of them) , potential hazards like your kids eating them, etc

So if you buy too much, you end up losing money on this in the long range

Hm… Maybe just sign a deal with a manufacturer so i own them but don't physically have them. Like buying goldz and stuff.
