Dude this place we were at was so seedy, too. It was full of unsavory businessmen with obvious whores. The people at the hotel kept looking at me like I hired my friends (who really aren't that whore-y looking, mind you), but it was really uncomfortable.
Needless to say, that trip went down in history as one of our worst ideas ever.
I did get some good poker in at a local casino, though, although it was a little weird. The attitude towards guns down there is not something I was prepared for.
There was a lady at the poker table going through her purse looking for something, and kind of pulling things out, and pulled out a handgun and a clip, and nobody reacted.
The sketchiest dude there was the guard with the shotgun.
@Braiam you're lucky to live there though I gotta say: Driving through Santo Domingo was like driving in an arcade game. That was pure insanity, one of the most exhilirating, scary, hilarious things I'd ever done in a car.
