@Oded - Don't know if you can answer this, but I will try.
@Oded - that Unicorn hat... it's mod-only like the beard from the last year?

Think again

Bart? did you mean the skyrim one?

Nah, Unicorn. See my icon. Unless you don't mean awarded to mods only

Got to love a nice challenge...

Q: DataTables TableTools server-side not export/print all records

Bruno Lightmy problem = Does JQuery Datatables TableTools support the server side processing implementation DataTables server-side TableTools not export / print all records, is there any solution for this?

@Bart - I was expecting it to be a "only for mods" hat. Good to know.
@Bart - I want that hat . I had that proposed BEFORE the bash started (meta.sharepoint.stackexchange.com/a/952/5173)

2:08 PM
@SPArchaeologist the beard was not mod only. It was for those who congratulated the beard owner for their newborn ;)
And seeing as @Bart is not a mod anywhere...

And I didn't congratulate anyone for their Unicorn

@Oded - actually the beard WAS intended as mod only. They made an exception for dmck because he discovered the story behind it. meta.stackoverflow.com/a/161707/171199
@Oded - pardon - Employee only
Just figured that mod!=employee

Fair enough. But the unicorn isn't like that.

Still won't be the case with the Unicorn though. I have no clue what it's about.
Except that it's a Meta-related thing

Bart & hims056 have come close though

2:11 PM
I still hope that it is NOT for those who upvote my old question
seen a strange flock of upvotes on the "quest of the winter bash 2012" question.

Is anyone here able to check if 3 downvotes were from the same user? They were a few days ago at the same time, but haven't been reversed

You can always flag one of the posts for moderator attention @DannyBeckett. It will probably only be dismissed as helpful though.
At least visually for you

ok thanks Bart!

Yoooooo

Hoooooo

2:18 PM
urgh.
Noticed a pattern...
How have you done that?
by hand on each site?

huh?

You told us to look for a pattern. I notice the sheer amount of accounts...

Is there a threshold that must be attained by 10k flags before a question appears in the moderator queue? I'm wondering whether an answer with 4x NOA flags is handled any differently to one with, say, 9x NOA flags.

and now let's have a little join fun

Fun is for nerds!

2:28 PM
With that said, what is today's listening?

Oh, lemme see here...

@Duncan IIRC, nothing different there, no on account of # of flags. Only age - if the flags have not been handled in a long time (days), they will go to the mod queue instead of the +10k one

CC @Bart

@SPArchaeologist oh. Employees get around. Whenever a bug is on a Meta I need to register on that main if I want to respond to it.

@Oded Interesting. But presumably only moderators can actually take actions on flags? I.e. if 10k users flag as NOA, only a moderator can actually delete the answer?

2:33 PM
@Duncan um. Vote to close and vote to delete are actions. Flags will clear from a deleted post.

@Duncan users with delete privs can vote to delete the answer

Nice @ElfSlice

er, nevermind
That was rude

insert self-deprecating comment

@Bart It's also free if you want to download it.

2:36 PM
@Oded Yes. That would be too strange - expecting one to join all the stack sites

All of Soulular's other stuff is as well.

(BTW.... now with that mask/hat I really seem Zorro. At least if it was a bandana I could have be Zoro...)
@Oded - btw - I am misinterpreting this, or does this serverfault.com/users/126632/michael-hampton imply that the hat is earnable outside of meta (I mean, you can have it on other sites too)

@SPArchaeologist All sites have a meta ;)

@SPArchaeologist and he is only wearing it there. Earned it on/for Stack Overflow though.

@Bart - understood. I assumed the hat list was separate on a per-site basis

2:50 PM
Soulular is the shit.

3:17 PM
How do you get the Doge hat?

You should ask someone who got it...

Such effort. Much reward

I haven't seen anybody with it yet
But I need it

wow hat amaze

3:23 PM
@ElfSlice Megaman hat?

7 more hats and the div will overflow.

@SPArchaeologist much desire

@ElfSlice also.... no need for the ball. Capcom is fully capable of killing his icon without help. (really hoping Infaune will teach them a lesson or two with Mighty #9)

Heh

Someone drove a bulldozer to school today

3:30 PM
Boss.

I kid you not
Someone decided to drive their Bulldozer to school http://t.co/YDQt57zXlr

@ColeJohnson I thought that said someone drove a bulldozer through school today. I even opened the news to see if I missed something.

@bluefeet I'd like that

3:57 PM
Just wondering. Any of the unicorn hat gifted user there do not had an accepted answer on meta during the bash?

@SPArchaeologist I had this answer accepted within the bash and I remain un-unicorny

urgh. Just realized one thing.
no, it wasn't that.
anyway, @RichardTingle . Last year the winter bash site had an easter egg. Maybe there is some way to replicate it on this year site.
@RichardTingle - it was one of my post about it... a little old but still provide some info
notice that this year CTRL does NOT work for attracting the snow.

@SPArchaeologist I looked for it in the code, couldn't find it

@Mr.PeanutMonopolyMcManish shog posted this list on meta:
•...then I took an arrow to the knee.

•Earned ten of the most meaningless points on the 'Net

•I live... AGAIN!

•He ain't no drag

•from JBM to JWH

•Humpty Dumpty, or perfect in every way?

•There are only so many people capable of putting together words that stir and move and sing.

•You look like an absolute idiot.

•You may have to go to Puerto Vallarta, break the law and then fight extradition to get over this one.

•Solve these riddles and it's yours
apart for the reference to Skyrim I am still thinking about those. Drop me a whistle if anything comes to mind... I will do the same. For now I must go, returning later.

@SPArchaeologist 10 rep?

@SPArchaeologist Earned 10 of the most meaningless points is the unicorn horn one that I'm wearing

@ElfSlice -- I assumed so, but I have earned 25 point on meta and no unicorn

4:21 PM
Oh, are those hints for secret hats?

@SPArchaeologist Which Skyrim reference?

@ElfSlice yes

@SPArchaeologist more meaningless than rep

ooo
@Mr.PeanutMonopolyMcManish comment votes?

4:22 PM
@Mr.PeanutMonopolyMcManish "I was an adventurer like you, then I got an Arrow in the Knee"
@Mr.PeanutMonopolyMcManish - we could test.... go around and upvote my comments on meta. I will report back :P
See ya later for now

Question for anybody hanging about
when someone asks "How do I do <x language feature> in <y>"

Joe
1) should it have <x> tag
and
2) should the question be rewritten to explain what <x language feature> is, so that someone who is unfamiliar with <X> but does know <y> understands it?

1) Yes. 2) Yes
I'd also be inclined to close it, actually.

Joe
stackoverflow.com/questions/20636929/… specifically; I rewrote the question to make sense to a non-SAS programmer and retagged, but immediately was reverted
by a fairly high rep user that I'm hesitant to get into an edit war with
otoh, I'm the primary user, and don't really care to have that question tagged ...
It wasn't a bad question per se (though I suspect it's probably a duplicate, I'm not a user so I don't know for sure)

Hmm...
That is kinda odd.

Joe
4:48 PM
but the intiial comment to the question underlied exactly why I rewrote it
6 users had no idea what "lag" means...
s/primary/highest rep/ I suppose, that's not really a fair usage of that word
anyway

I would say that you did destroy some information in your edit.

Joe
I'm not sure my edit was all that good - I'm a bit tired and couldn't think of a good way to reword it - but certainly the way it was, wasn't very useful
from my pov

Coming from the view of someone who knows absolutely nothing about the topics involved, I kinda like to original rev better.
But I'm not sure that the user was right to rollback your edit.

You could argue that the tag is being used as a meta-tag. Kind of like saying "I'm coding this app that you can use in Google Chrome" and tagging it with even though the question has nothing to do with Google Chrome in reality.

It was a major edit, but it really didn't change too much.
@animuson Kinda like using [plastic] because the app will be run in a plastic box?

Joe
4:52 PM
@animuson, right - that's what I'd like to avoid, particularly as is a fairly low usage tag (a question to three questions a day ), and many of these would overwhelm legitimate usage
not that we have a lot of them, but certainly we could, and I end up retagging a few every so often

@Joe (This is where I defer to @animuson to answer your questions)

Joe
I wonder if I just retag it again if that will get left alone, and the community can figure out how it wants these questions worded

@balpha Potential bug: This guy seems to have the virtual mod hat on all the sites he's registered on.

@Undo I use the mod hat on all sites.

Joe
ok, thanks folks, I'll see if I can resolve this :)

4:54 PM
@animuson Go to his profile and click the hat link.

Joe
and by the way, I think the hats this year were very well done and perhaps somewhat effective - if i'm not wrong, the close queue on SO actually dropped some!
(as lots of people tried for the review hats)

@Joe Yeah, we has a bug in the close-vote expiration thingy.

@UndotheSnowman Micah works with us.

Joe
have a bug that's not fixed or have a bug that was just fixed? :)

@Oded Oh. So... He gets the hat even without the diamond?

Joe
4:55 PM
if it's a bug reducing the close queue I'm all for it ;)

@Joe was just fixed yesterday.

@UndotheSnowman he has a diamond. On AskPatents.

Joe
brilliant :)

@Oded Yes, but the hat was awarded on all the sites.
Even where he doesn't have the diamond.
(Click the little snowflake thingy)

He's speshal.

4:56 PM
huh

It's so fun to report bugs about hats.
Halp! The hats is borked!
People stepping in here for the first time must think we sell real hats or something.

What's up with all the Meta anger today? Is there a secret grumpy-hat?

@Bart Those without hats === haters

@Bart Wait, am I missing some meta anger!?

"Missing" is too strong a word @UndotheSnowman

5:00 PM
@Undo - there seem to be a lot of you peeepl is horrrible to newbiz today

At least the "the Portuguese are friendlier" angle is new. Let's see how long that one lasts

We need a hat for people who delete a programming question on Meta less than sixty seconds after it's posted.
@Bart I wonder what memes they'll have.

oscilação @UndotheSnowman

grumbles I need to learn Portugeez.

marrom

5:03 PM
Predictable, but well done

You know what we need? We need a really amazing hat for mods that clear out 1500 items in the close queue.

ho hum

@ElfSlice thanks :)

@Undo - those that clear +1k flags in a day deserve that

That too.

5:05 PM
@UndotheSnowman: Nobody would achive that hat :P 1000 flags within 3 days however...
ah damn, oded was faster

Did someone do that or something?

one SO mod did about 1k a few days ago

Has he been seen since?

Yeah. Everyone is in awe. A record has been set.

Got to go now, be back soon.

5:23 PM
@UndotheSnowman not a bug

@UndotheSnowman Micah is one of the VCs that initially funded SO. He gets complimentary hats

5:36 PM
Ah.

5:55 PM
Haha, I like the RoboCop "hat."
That's good stuff.
Also, I think it's funny that you can get secret hats without knowing why you got them.

There is nothing funny about that!
And then the hints that keep getting dropped....that I don't even begin to grasp..
Funny you say?!?

I've probably been being a little too specific with my hints.
From now on, I will speak of hats strictly in Pee Wee Herman metaphors.

In the end it will turn out that all these secret hats are handed out randomly, just to see us struggle

6:11 PM
Hi

Hello

How are you?

Given that nothing I did today worked, and I haven't progressed one bit, surprisingly well. :)

That is good :-)
How did I get this speed racer hat?

Haha, Chuck Yeager, the original speed racer

Q: I have a Secret Hat

robbmjI received some sort of secret hat, the "Chuck Yeager". It says that it is a secret hat. What is the point of a secret hat, besides being fun? Also it appears that he was the first pilot to travel faster than the speed of sound. Would anyone like to take a guess at why I have this hat? After r...

6:26 PM
@Bart haha that does not explain much

It's not that difficult to figure out though, given your recent activity

@Bart What was it then?

I would assume it was this that did it for you meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/212178/apathetic-answers/…

Ahhh ok @Bart . Noone even commented on my story :-(

Hehe, I'm not sure anyone noticed. Though EEGs are good fun.

6:31 PM
@Bart You've had one?

Not a full one. Some testing of equipment. Nothing medical for me

:-\ I am afraid I will look silly @ work when I go in afterwards.

Haha, that might well be yes

7:00 PM
Do we have any timeframe on the launch of Aviation?

7:13 PM
Oh yay! Unicorn hat! That doesn't tell me how you earn it though! GAHHHHH!

@animuson Comment upvotes
I think

@UndotheSnowman today

@AnnaLear Awesome. I'm planning to try to collect stats on it.

@UndotheSnowman stats?

@AnnaLear I have a little cron job that calls the /info method once an hour and throws the result into a DB, allowing me to do stuff like this.
And I want to see what the early part of a beta looks like.

7:23 PM
ah, neat
let me know how it turns out

Hmmm. Comment votes? That's not what I was thinking triggered the unicorn hat.

That's just my guess
there was a little discussion in here earlier
3 hours ago, by Mr. Peanut Monopoly McManish
@SPArchaeologist more meaningless than rep

It's a solid guess, don't get me wrong.

@UndotheSnowman /info?
API /info?

I may or may not read the transcript of this room obsessively, @ElfSlice. Regardless, I saw the conversation earlier =)

7:26 PM
@JohannesKuhn Yes.
@AnnaLear I assume the API key should be aviation, right?

Right place to report a bug on the SE API documentation?

@UndotheSnowman Come to think of it, I'm not sure the API exposes private betas.

@AnnaLear It does.
I can see br.so in the API.

but yes, "aviation" should be it.

Awesome.

Q: Site in closed beta but api working

radiusHello, Webapps has been added yesterday, website is in closed beta and it's not possible to see something on the website when you are not logged. But if you use the API you can get information. http://api.webapps.stackexchange.com/0.9/questions In this wanted ? In this case why don't let the w...

status-bydesign

@JohannesKuhn I can tell you with all certainty that the API exposes private betas ;)
(also, that was the pre-2.0 api)

I just found a relevant bug report. I at least thought that.

I HAVE FIGURED SOMETHING OUT.
I don't know anything about hats.
That's all.

Hmm... A Eureka! hat.
How might I get a Eureka! hat?
digs through Pekka's history

7:49 PM
@Pëkka Haha. Awesome.

Having not seen any indication of suspicious activity that would cause such a hat to be awarded...

That's a reference the the Jersey Shore reality TV show, in case you don't keep up with American television (@Pëkka).

... I can only conclude that it is one of those hats that can only be awarded by moderators.
Like we had last year.
@Pëkka am I right?

Which hat?

@UndotheSnowman I have no idea!
@jadarnel27 yeah! I don't follow the show but I've been browsing 9gag long enough to know the guy :)

7:59 PM
@Pëkka That sounds suspicious.

Pëkka is always suspicious.
He hangs out in that anti-moderator chatroom.
With the other subversive users.

like you ;)

@jadarnel27 Ya, but when he puts on a show of not acting suspicious I know there's something amis.
