12:04 AM
lets all browse for some videos of vampichoco (pretty funny character from Invader Zim)
mmm I couldn't find any vid on english, stupid youtube keeps giving me results from MX

12:32 AM
Oooh! 100 more comments flags!
dives into queue

Nooooo 357 flags? I was enjoying that big fat zero...

adds more flags

Fun fact: "Not constructive" comment flags are about the most likely thing to get declined, because a) the person doesn't provide any context for why it's not constructive and I don't care enough to investigate it over a stupid comment flag; or b) the person just is too thick-headed to take the advice given in the comment to heart.

@animuson Are comment flags grouped by post, or are they displayed individually?

They are grouped by post.

12:38 AM
Good.

I hate going through the not constructive comment flags because I just spend all my time thinking "Ok, why isn't this constructive?"

@animuson We need subcategories on the comment flags :P

We do have them.

Oooh! I could help you go through those!
:P

Awww. I just submitted some "not constructive" comment flags earlier.
I haven't checked to see how they were handled though.

@Undo My first job over a decade ago had three employees who used dvorak on shared workstations. I carried around a notecard in my wallet with instructions on how to remap dvorak to qwerty with all the keys mapped wrong. It looked like gobbledygook, but it did the job. I ended up distributing them to half my office.
(I believe it was o.yqtxmal ',.pyf which is setxkbmap qwerty using the devil's keyboard layout)

lol
In truth, the moderatores doth haveth themselves some tasks to completeth:

2:03 AM
@Undo Pending comment flags? What pending comment flags?

2:14 AM
Do you know how hard it is to write a haiku in Japanese?
English is so generous with syllables! Japanese is 1 letter = 1 syllable
(this has been your useless fact for the day)

2:58 AM
I am reading "Tower of God" manga, and that is our second useless fact for the day :D

1 hour later…
4:11 AM
I wish I could get flags back once they've been marked helpful ;)

4:38 AM
Gahhhhh#$%@&#$%@&#$%@&#$%@&#$%@&#$%@&#$%@&!!!!!! I just used hand sanitizer and forgot I had an open cut on my hand!

4:49 AM
@animuson I believe you have a spelling error there. %*&(@&*(%^#(*%*@$@*$^*&!!!!!! should be #$%@&#$%@&#$%@&!!! or the like. You are seriously lacking number signs! Someone may think you aren't really in pain.

Better? ;P

5:14 AM
Much.
(doesn't it hurt less now that you've properly cursed?)

@animuson "Ouch, I've just misjudged whether to use my hand sanitizer and my hand is in serious pain. Better go use it lots to tell the Tavern exactly how painful it is."

What? Seriously? I just sat there and went through 20 "too many comments" flags and the queue only dropped by one? mumbles mindlessly

5:57 AM
Well knocked down the queue from 357 to 45. Good night!

6:18 AM
That's impressive.

and I compressed this javascript to the limits:
x=(y+(z?1:-1));
x=(y+((z*2)-1));
x=(y-1+(z*2));

x=y+(z?1:-1);
x=y+(2*z-1);
x=y-1+2*z;
the first 3 are manually edited, the last 3 are the same 3 but after running it on a JS minimizer

1 hour later…
7:39 AM
I try dvorak now.

7:55 AM
@JohannesKuhn how's that going?

i'd imagine
<-- very much a "point and peck" typer

but I'll learn it.

that's the spirit :)

I've read that you need 1 year to reach the same efficience.

8:11 AM
would not surprise me at all

but I'm already learning where the keys are
q
just remember that the vokals are on the left

8:37 AM
Don't do it! You will annoy anyone who ever has to use your keyboard!
It isn't worth it! Think of the children!

8:54 AM
they should learn dvorak

9:42 AM
and: noone should touch my keyboard.

I just clicked on an English version of a Korean site and got this: kci.co.kr/eng
@YiJiang The Wheel of Blame needs to include "caching". Perhaps solely "caching". Nothing else is to blame.

Coffee is brown. Maybe that is why it's so good.
My doctor told me that I should drink more water, especially considering all the coffee I drink.
She was surprisingly unswayed by my "coffee is water" argument.
I thought the logic was pretty much unassailable.

3:35 PM
She's clearly sold out to the tea lobbyists. Ditch that bitch.

A: I would like a mug please

Alex Poole Coffee, black and strong; OK, very nearly black - Like the new top bar

Coffee needs mug ^^^

3:53 PM
@AndrewBarber Lol :)
Your flag-fu is still weak. ;)] — Andrew Barber 1 min ago
flags more stuff

4:20 PM
I think I am too late, and too uncreative, to be involved in that coffee mug competition.

I tried something, but it was a bit abstract. And I kinda missed the whole coffee theme thing.
But it included the word brown, which I felt appropriate.

Indeed, always appropriate.

I went to an IT conference this week and, to my delight, discovered there was a full blown arms fair in the next hall and my badge got me access.

Q: Mercurial fails to merge via command line

SklivvzMy mercurial installation refuses to merge via command line. Here's the output after I turn on verbose and debug. C:\src\StackOverflow>hg resolve --all --verbose --debug couldn't find merge tool codecompare_diff couldn't find merge tool codecompare_merge couldn't find merge tool bcompare couldn'...

^ if anyone has any idea...

4:42 PM
@jadarnel27 Just post "brown" as an answer. If they complain about a lack of syllables, you can always state that the majority of "brown"'s syllables are silent.

@Sklivvz I do have ideas, but they are all unrelated to your question. Is that a problem?

@Sumurai8 if you post them as answers, it might be a problem for the not-an-answer police

Did someone call the NAA district flag police?

Mug / T-shirt winners have been posted ;)

If it wasn't me, then I don't care.
And considering I didn't actually post an answer to the question, I think we all know.

4:56 PM
@Tim should the mug question be locked, so as to freeze its awesomeness as it is now and not let it deteriorate into something else?

> Well, no, I'm not really sorry.
They never are...

@Undo I'm debating ... flipped between locking and closing ... hmmmm
yeah what the heck, historical significance

Wait, Haiku contests aren't good, on topic questions?
This shakes my entire world.

Turn off the vibration mode on your chair.

@Sklivvz Did you try with the --traceback flag too to see if it would spit out anything additional?

5:01 PM
@animuson Whew, that's better. Thanks! Now why does it all of the sudden feel like some amorphous monster is trying to eat my shoulderblades?

@animuson But it was me.

@TimStone didn't know it existed. I will try next merge
thanks!

5:23 PM
Booh
@Undo: Your helpful flag count is (slightly) higher than mine, so don't let Animuson tell you off too much.

5:50 PM
b-r-o-w-n

6:01 PM
IIRC andrew had a helpful flagcount of over 9000

@Joh Yup - 9600ish.

over 9000 :P

@MartijnPieters ;)... I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to trade all these helpful flags in for - maybe an SE shirt? (Hopeful wishing)

I voted for andrew in the last election because of the insane number of helpful flags. Moderators get free swag I heard. So it COULD work @Undo

@Johann I dunno - I wouldn't mind modding SO, but I doubt I have enough rep to net enough votes. Maybe if I hit something like 15,000 flags or something... Or maybe the mods will just donate me a diamond to get me to quite flagging stuff.

6:11 PM
Ask ChrisF, he has plenty

I still can't figure out how it's possible to keep track of that many sites.
@Oded and didn't he break something with diamond #5?
Like the system thought he was an employee?

@Undo Some ... assumptions ... were made quick-n-dirty like in order to tell if someone is an employee without the extra added effort of wiring chat into the account 'spine' that we have per user. Only employees would have diamonds on five or more sites .. we thought. Whoops.

That one ^^^
@Undo SO is the behemoth. Most other sites are a fraction of the size and really don't take a lot to monitor.

So you did the logical thing and unmodded ChrisF on one site?

Naw. Upped the arbitrary number and hoped he stops running for elections.
2

6:23 PM
@Bart Well, we thought of renaming him to Chris FUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuu, but then we bit the bullet and just doubled the assertion threshold.
So now, it's twice as broken, see? :)

So you've presented him with a challenge ...

It might be easier to just hire him. As a community manager. For every site.
2

@Undo probably not gonna happen. The guy is seriously annoying. Being all awesome and stuff, and then making all contributions CW so he doesn't get any rep from it. If they would try to hire him, he'd probably decline and do it for free anyway.
2

Lol
Goal: 10k flags by next election, just for the fun of it.
(when is the next one, anyway?)
Eventually they'll hit a communication problem with too many SO mods, right?

Mod elections are reactive, not scheduled.
With the way animuson has been handling flags, there may never be another election =)

6:32 PM
Soon I'll have flags accepted as helpful that I didn't even submit yet.

You already do!

Hi @Bart, I just noticed that your flagging activity stops abruptly on August 3, 2091. Will there be anything the team can help with?
2

Pay the gravedigger

6:48 PM
Dear @Pops, thank you for your concern. I went through an unforeseen cremation around that time, but will get back on the job ash soon as possible to urn more rep and badges.
3

Hahahaha
That was awesome, @Bart.

@Bart Ah. We understand that things go down unexpectedly sometimes. It's good to hear that you'll remains on the job.

7:18 PM
Shouldn't the /behavior Help Center page say "Do not use signatures, taglines, or greetings."?
Currently, "signature" is singular. Which seems odd.
But grammar is not my forte.
So maybe that's right.

Go and report that pluralization bug

I better not. It's against my principles to report such a trivial "bug." Plus my fear of giant 'S' violence.

1 hour later…
8:37 PM
Three hours, 23 minutes to a bunch more comment flags :D

9:06 PM
@jadarnel27 We actually still haven't hired a replacement Alphabetical Weapons Specialist, so you're safe. For now.

Employees are never poked with sharp sticks. - only sharp letters.

9:27 PM
@Undo Virtual paper cut?

@Sumurai8 More violent than that, most likely.

@Undo What can be more violent than a paper cut. You can kill someone with that, y'know.

@Pops That is reassuring.

Q: SO Close Votes Reviewers (Next Meetup on Monday, Nov 25th)

acheong87The next meetup is on: Monday, November 25th, 2013 @ 9:00pm UTC, 4:00pm EST, 1:00pm PST in this chat room. Yet another thread about close votes starting with the disclaimer, "Yet another thread about close votes." This thread is not about why the queue as large as it is. See @Shog9's latest...

10:43 PM
If we're a moderator and can get in anyways, do we still need to sign up?
PS. The new Hunger Games movie was awesome.

The fun thing about working from home is that nobody is staring at the bottle of cider I have here, or complaining about me testing the ballmer peak theory.

11:03 PM
@animuson I can't wait to see that!

anyone here is a guru in coding? I need to confirm these two are equal :D
if(!((x<9) && (y<=(8-x)))){...}
if((x>8) || (y>(8-x))){...}
note: the ! is NOT, the && is AND and the || is OR
or... I could put them on loops and see if they are the same... mmm that sounds easier

11:23 PM
yep, they are the same, thanks I couldn't have done without your help guys

do looking for hours to save 1 char is worth it?, well, my examples speak for themselves!:

It's a good thing that's really readable =P
