@mootinator Affirmative canine, you meant.

Possibly.

You know that text height problem I was discussing the other day? I finally found the problem and solution
It was caused by stupid @font-face fonts not loading before the page attempted to adjust the font sizes

@mootinator Yikes...that hurts.
This was definitely close to that. The Panthers were ahead for the entire game today. Then the Bucs, down by 8 with 1 minute left in regulation, drove down the field to get a touchdown and 2 point conversion to tie it up.

@jadarnel27 That was one of only three games I've seen live. And it was worse in the stands. Nobody saw the flags in my section and assumed they had won it.

Then we lost in overtime. Lame-sauce.
@mootinator Oh, wow. That would be worse. Jeez.

@jadarnel27 That definitely rates high on the suck scale.

Havent watched Avatar, downloaded it to my iTunes account because my sister needs it for school.
It's like the time I bought the Steve Jobs biography for school.

close votes review queue is unmanageable: for about a week now it just sits at 52K. I would try increasing review limit to 100 or 200 for users who already have gold badge in that queue

12:57 PM
@Moshe wtf, why would one need that for school?

G'mornin', folks.

2:37 PM
@ThiefMaster If you don't already know the answer to that you haven't been near a school lately.

true, my school life ended 6 years ago

I actually just assume it's because of this:
> The broad range of Avatar's intentional or perceived themes has prompted reviewers to call it "an all-purpose allegory"
The 2009 American science fiction film Avatar has earned widespread success, becoming the highest-grossing film so far. The blockbuster has provoked vigorous discussion of a wide variety of cultural, social, political, and religious themes identified by critics and commentators, and the film's writer and director James Cameron has responded that he hoped to create an emotional reaction and to provoke public conversation about these topics. The broad range of Avatars intentional or perceived themes has prompted reviewers to call it "an all-purpose allegory" and "the season's ideological ...

3:15 PM
@ThiefMaster The movie or the book?

the book

@ThiefMaster The book, for a report of some kind which I was able to wrangle Apple as being relevant to some social analysis.
I think I was writing about "Apple as a social movement" or something like that.
Liberal arts colleges are the best for allowing students to wrangle any assignment into any kind of BS. (Not BS as in the degree.)
As far as the movie - same idea. Professor was wrangling something stupid into the curriculum.
Oh, this:

@Moshe Well, they did choose "Epic Fail Guy" as their official mascot. Someone should have seen this coming eventually.

4:12 PM
@mootinator Hehe.
Oh, for the record, our very own @Lix has been called up. Edit: for army reserve duty.

@Moshe Called up?

@mootinator Army reserve duty.

Oh boo.

@mootinator Yea, well, gotta keep the fight alive in P-stine. </snark>
Someone argued with me the other day that the ancient biblical philistia is the same as the modern contrived palestine. Sadly hysterical.

I honestly just wish people could be happy with the way things are. It just isn't going to happen though.

4:39 PM
Hi all

I'm happy with the way things are.
I'm livin' the freakin' dream over here.

You don't think things could be more brown?

It definitely could be. But I'm also content with the current amount brown that things are.

5:16 PM
@mootinator I saw that happen in a college game. Tennessee was about to upset a highly ranked Louisiana State team; as time ran out, LSU snapped the ball from the two yard line over the quarterback's head and he was tackled for a huge loss. But in the confusion just before the play, Tennessee had sent two men onto the field but forgot to send two off. The penalty erased the big loss and gave LSU another chance from one yard out, and they scored to win.

That is very similar.
@mmyers Supposedly what happened there was some wires were crossed and they sent an extra person to return the missed field goal (even though they didn't need to to win) and sent an extra player to try to block.

@mootinator If they hadn't returned it, it would have gone to overtime, correct?
Or is it only one point?

@mmyers I'm thinking on a missed field goal it's one point in the CFL.
Wikipedia confirms that :)

I think the CFL added that rule just so there would more running
so the players wouldn't freeze to death
most of the time

lol

5:34 PM
@mootinator WHAT A JOYFUL EVENT!

@TimStone 2009 was nice. It didn't snow here until the day after that game (Dec 1). We already have several feet this year.

5:54 PM
Wait, what..?
> Windows" no longer supports multiple windows on the screen. Win8 does have an option to temporarily show a second area in a small part of the screen, but none of our test users were able to make this work.
Can't tell if true or only testing Modern UI bits.

sounds retarded anyway
like going back to DOS times ...

Indeed.

i do have to admit that 90% of my windows are fullscreen
but hm.. does win8 still have a task bar to switch properly between all windows including metro ones?

I need to install Windows 8 without actually installing windows 8 now.

I've decided that I have not been nearly rude enough to the moderators around here. I feel left out.
@ThiefMaster You, sir, are a chump and a murderer.

huh?
did I delete your sockpuppet? :P

No, I'm still here.

@mmyers You are a rapscallion. And a harlot!
2
Haha. Well played, @Popular =)
@ThiefMaster No, you're good. I'm just obliquely referencing today's big Meta post about being nice to the moderators =)

, you irredeemable oaf.

8:08 PM
@jadarnel27 I sound like a salad. Harlots are sort of like shallots, no?
@PopularDemand Whenever I see "oaf", I mentally prefix it with "meatl". Or maybe just in the afternoons, I don't know

...making up vegetables won't save you from the digital smackdown I'm bringing.

@mmyers Not at all. The emphasis is on the first syllable in harlot, and the second in shallot.

Personally, I'd prefer a salad that has more than just onions and hip-hop onions in it.

Are rapscallions the kind the song Gangnam Style?
I just ate an avocado salad. That was tasty.
That sing*
Mobile UI...

@Moshe No, those are K-popscallions you're thinking of...

8:24 PM
Avocados are the squishy and disgusting vegetable-meat that the mods want us to consume.
I therefore have to assume that Moshe is a sympathizer (or an undercover moderator), and thus can no longer be trusted.

Someone should open a chat room where we can talk behind the moderators' backs.

@PopularDemand "shal·lot   [ shal- uht, shuh-lot ]"

We'll have to do it quietly though, because they'll just let themselves in otherwise.

I am a strong supporter of the avocado agenda. Tim for corrupt moderator extraordinaire!

gasp!
Et tu, Tim'us?

@jadarnel27 I was swayed by the cape I'm told all moderators wear. It'll make my Tim-signal entrances more dramatic.

@mmyers Gordon Ramsay only says it the second way. Clearly, I'm right and you're wrong.

@PopularDemand You're a Gordonite? This means war!
Or is it a Ramsayer?

@mmyers I'm partial to this one.

@mmyers To EL&U SE!

8:51 PM
Hmm.
Having a dev site forward me to the production site isn't very helpful.

I guess that's better than the reverse

9:17 PM

I actually don't get the locking of that question.
Oh...it was random.
I shall cease trying to make sense of it.

Is it nobler in the mind to suffer the Slings and Arrows of outrageous Fortune, or to take Arms against a Sea of trolls, and by opposing end them?
and hello
Hi @jcolebrand fancy meeting you in here.
@jcolebrand how do you feel a mod should respond if a user abuses him? I'm asking because of this answer to a question on mSO (which has a lot of downvotes I don't really understand)

> For more info visit meta.

@mootinator Well, don't just stand there

9:41 PM
I visited Meta, and I still don't get it.

Yeah.
I'd ask a question about it, but it just said to visit meta.
I assume all responsibility for me not getting it.

I will permit you to assume the responsibility for me not getting it either.
Please and thank you.

Okay. I'm going to have to charge for that service, but my rates are very reasonable.

@JackDouglas I think a moderator should either STFU or deal with it, those being mutually inclusive options.

@jcolebrand how about raising the behaviour in the site chat room? I'd be leery about acting alone or in private where there could be any suggestion I had mixed motives, wouldn't you?

2 hours later…
11:53 PM
@mootinator Do you accept Discover cards?
snickers

That depends.
Does Paypal accept Discover cards?
@jadarnel27 Yes. Yes I do. hrumph

That was a trap. No reputable establishments accept Discover cards.
