Whenever I'm in B&N I see a book by @spolsky.
Tonight was no exception.

"do you have any maps that aren't aerial view?" -Steven Wright

Said of B&N?

Nope.
Just a comedian mocking maps.

Q: Any chance of StackExchange blacking out Jan 18, along with Reddit, in opposition of SOPA/PIPA?

AgentConundrumReddit has announced that they will be blacking out their site on January 18 in opposition of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act of 2011 (a.k.a. PROTECT-IP, PIPA). There has been some discussion o...

Interestingly, there's something here that's causing my Firefox to crash on loading this page.
I know that there's a bug in the VLC plugin or something that causes it to crash when it tries to load mpeg videos, but I don't see it on that page I think

Hmm, repeatedly? I don't see anything odd on that page, if you don't count a Braveheart-like figure riding a unicorn odd.

Hmmm, it's not crashing now, but it just did twice in a row after loading that page
Very weird. Firefox is usually stable

Hi all ^_^

Morning!

3:22 PM
Gut Morgen.
So, I'm working on my game, developing the connections between maps...
...and I have this guy walking around, and all is well...
...until he hits a geometry bug.
[splat]

Geometry-bug'DDD!

4:09 PM
@jadarnel27 Actually, I'm basically dealing with this:
The coordinate systems are different.
So I need to do some conversions yadayada.
Except now I'm off to a driving lesson.
Tschüß!

4:26 PM
@Moshe Oh, that looks like fun! Good catch on the translation though. Enjoy your...driving lesson?
I hate programatically generating excel spreadsheets. RAWR.

It and biostar.stackexchange.com seems to be the only other SE1.0 site still running on stackexchange.com.

Any ideas how I can escape backticks in a post? (e.g. to write out the title of this page mywiki.wooledge.org/BashFAQ/082)
extra points if the backticks can be formatted as inline code
ahh... nvm, found it: `` ... ``
Hmm... formatting works differently in chat though.

Use multiple backticks, with a space between the ones you want to show and the two that border the code section.
Let's see if I can represent that in chat...
Like `` `...` ``

I managed to get it working here: stackoverflow.com/a/8823225/115845
same thing doesn't seem to here here in chat

A: Backticks not escaped in questions/answers as they are in comments

Jeff AtwoodWe might support double-backticks in comments at some point: comment doesn't support multiple backticks code span However, for now, we are supporting the escaped backtick `blah blah \` blah` within a code block. The correct way to express this per the Markdown spec is: ``blah blah ` blah...

For the purposes of this discussion, comments = chat

Makes sense. thanks

Oh, but the related feature request was completed, hmm...
Might not work for this specific case, then, where you have the backticks on the outside, but either way using the \` will be safe.
Er..

5:23 PM
`...`

...Wow, that was an ordeal. My brain is clearly broken this afternoon. Time for lunch.

5:48 PM
I need brunch. Too hungry to remember what I've been eating all vacation. I need healthy food...

@jadarnel27 - Problem solved.
@jadarnel27 Oh, yea, taking the test to get my license later this month.

Congrats @Moshe. Just curious, regular drivers license? Or, like, a pilots license? =)

8:53 PM
@jadarnel27 Driver's license.

Just in case someone, somewhere hasn't seen this yet. Just. Epic.
Been using Balsamiq Mockups for a few weeks now, seeing increased client interest and productivity boosts of up to {$PERCENT} percent!
But really, really great stuff.

"There is a restriction currently which allows only 5 edits per users irrespective of whether you own the post or not."

Does this mean that users are only allowed to edit five of their own posts or am I confused? (from Ability to edit my own posts (to remove my signatures))

Anonymous
I failed in searching for any other questions about this.

Only your own posts, within a given timeframe (I think it's per day)
As mentioned in the comments, it's to prevent RAGEQUITTING. RAH!

"per day"ish, that makes sense.

Just read this comment from Nick Craver: "This probably won't be fixed...sketchy's days are numbered." Any idea when an announcement will be made about this?
In regards to the beta Sketchy design

Reading that comment was the first I had heard of it, will be interesting to see what their plan is.

ah, ok, i will wait and see

Thanks.

Aye. Seems like the message is pretty clear, not entirely sure how the OP on that question got confused.
