Q: .Net C# String class even has StartsWith() method

David DegeaI am new to c# and .NET .Net C# String class even has StartsWith() method It seems to me that this kind of method is no need. Why .NET makes things so complicated? I don't understand why this kind of method included. IndexOf() is enough. Just correct me if I am wrong. Thank you!

That's an interesting definition of "complicated", heh

STOP MAKING MY LIFE EASIER, DAMMIT!

Great comment by the way, @Fosco :D

Thank ye :)

@Fosco :( Are you upgrading or just unloading?

6:21 PM
@Moshe unloading.. I haven't used it in months except to testflight your stuff.

Ah, well.. Okay.
There goes one tester, unless this person wants to continue to test. I should have perhaps told you earlier, but the device can run iOS 5, it's registered as a test device.
Might give added value.

I don't think my mother will want to beta test games. lol. :)
I advertised it on Facebook with a firm price.. she was the first to jump at it.

Heh. Cool.

@TimStone Lol Tim, the guy just commented in response that he doesn't like dishwashers!

Hahahah

6:30 PM
I had to reply..

@Fosco Dishwashers? Where?

@Moshe see the question i posted a little bit ago, then read comments.

Didn't see the 10 other comments.
Heh.

Just found a clever way to validate is a URL points to a userscript using Foundation. Nice!
No string parsing for me.

7:46 PM
I'm keeping my metadata in Core Data and a path pointing to the script. Do I want to store the whole script, or strip out the header to be more efficient?

This is intense coding. Elegant, but intense.
I just hit compile for the first time in an hour, but I've been coding the whole time. Bad idea?

the new tag editor is now active on meta

wooo!
Very nice, @balpha

8:37 PM
@balpha Nifty. Can the selection colour at least be grey like the favourite/ignored tags thingadongdong? That red-orange makes my eyes sad as background for the red info link.

yeah, that's hardcoded at the moment. one of the things I'll look at before activating everywhere

Also, I'm still bothered by the grid navigation (especially since the boxes aren't guaranteed to be the same size), but I guess I lost that debate with Jeff. :p

we discussed it, and we actually didn't have strong feelings either way
the main problem I see is that your solutions uses a lot of vertical space

All in all though, very happy people won't necessarily be tagging blindly now that they have some additional information readily available, good work :)
Hm, this is true. I didn't test it with six items to see how large it would get.

okay, go play with it. you break it, you buy it :) bed time for me

8:42 PM
Our specialty ;) G'night!

Ok, parsing works, just make sure the scripts are in UTF8 at the moment.

@mmyers Zing! Nice.
Just checked into GitHub, Fahrii is moving along.

9:01 PM
@mmyers blipit.net

@Neal Yea, but not quite as shiny :P

@Moshe haha i made that in an hour

The Dow has lost nearly 1,000 points since the Smurfs rang the opening bell, in case we're looking to pin this on someone.

The traders probably shot themselves after hearing "Lah la lalah la lah" echoing through the street of NYC.

2 hours later…
11:05 PM
Does anyone know what a browser does when your userscript includes no version number?
@neal finish it.
:-)

@Moshe nothing

11:23 PM
@shog9 does it give a default value or just not show it?

11:42 PM
Try it
(Greasemonkey just shows nothing, but I can't speak for other browsers)
