In other words
When you ask a question, SO has you make the POST to /questions/ask/, then REDIRECTS you to (and makes you GET) /questions/1337/ so that when you REFRESH, you redo the GET /questions/1337/, not the POST /questions/ask/.

bows to the better knowledge
learned something new today, PRG

meh, it's not better knowledge; I just managed to grok that graph

@YiJiang Also known as the "Thank god I didn't accidentally pay for that twice" pattern.

or the "Those damn usability yippies, I'm taking double charges, thank you very much" anti-pattern

5:08 PM
Post/Redirect/Get (PRG) is a common design pattern for web developers to help avoid certain duplicate form submissions and allow user agents to behave more intuitively with bookmarks and the refresh button. Duplicate form submissions When a web form is submitted to a server through an HTTP POST request, a web user that attempts to refresh the server response in certain user agents can cause the contents of the original HTTP POST request to be resubmitted, possibly causing undesired results, such as a duplicate web purchase. To avoid this problem, many web developers use the PRG patter...

@YiJiang yeah, I was reading that already based on what you said earlier

om nom nom. spicyChickenSandwiches.setState(State.CONSUMED)

why wouldn't you only call .State = CONSUMED silly java programmer verbosity semantics
get'ers and set'ers should be anonymous and transparent like that ;)

You and your icing on the cake, pssh.

Q: Ho do I do this?

thedoerI need to do things, but can't figure out how. Please help ! like if I must do this: things. I just don't get it.

Question of the day!

I think we need a special tag on meta so we can highlight those

Mockup for Current Affairs Society's website, hmmm...
I kinda dislike the logo because of the lack of space between 'current' and 'affair', but it's not my logo, hmmm...

I think my eyes are having a seizure. The background is a bit busy. :P
If the background was a bit more muted, and the white blocks were slightly less transparent it would likely not be an issue.

Hmmmm, dropping background text's opacity significantly, then. They'll all be real, current news items, by the way :P

Can the grey be the same colour as before?

5:22 PM
@TimStone I thought it might be better to increase the contrast between the background and the content blocks, hmmm

Well, the main content blocks are also darker now as a result, right?
Or at least that's what my eyes tell me, even if that's not true.

@TimStone Yes, because I'm now both dropping background text and content block opacity, it should appear darker

nods

nods
but do it differently

Q: Merge [.net-generics] into [generics]?

abatishchevIs .net-generics really required? Should it be merged into more general generics, with appropriate synonym added?

and another question - how about to merge into ?
any moderator please?

are ooxml and openxml really the same?
LibreOffice doesn't acknowledge the OpenXML moniker in their wiki, I don't see ..
I guess we can go on wikipedia for this one
}} Office Open XML (also informally known as OOXML or OpenXML) is a zipped, XML-based file format developed by Microsoft for representing spreadsheets, charts, presentations and word processing documents. The Office Open XML specification was initially standardised by Ecma (as ECMA-376) and later by ISO and IEC (as ISO/IEC 29500). Starting with Microsoft Office 2007, the Office Open XML file formats have become the default target file format of Microsoft Office, although the Strict variant of the standard is not yet fully supported.{{cite web |url=http://arstechnica.com/microsoft/news...
