I was internally referencing a marathon joke telling session by my uncle's father where everytime anyone failed to laugh he explained it in great detail until someone offered him at least a "heh" at which point he would move on to the next terrible joke.
1/2 of it gets automatically awarded to the highest scoring new answer since the bounty started (over 2), if there is one, otherwise it just goes away.
> @tobias there is a tiny grace period but it's simply based on the odds of when your bounty ends versus when the hourly task runs – Jeff Atwood♦ Oct 19 '10 at 13:45
@RebeccaChernoff I'm curious why SOIS would worry about having cash in their candy area. I would rather they had more candy there (some twizzlers should fit in that bottle nicely)
@mootinator Seriously though, I'm a bit incredulous that Forbes even has a list of the most expensive desserts. Let alone that this sundae no longer qualifies.
> “Diners are bored,” says Mitchell Davis, spokesman for the James Beard Foundation. “They’re looking for new and absurd ways to tantalize themselves.”
> But the strawberries found at Arnaud’s restaurant in New Orleans French Quarter is not just some sliced fruit. The difference lies in the topping – a one-of-a-kind 4.7-carat pink diamond ring once belonging to the British financier Sir Ernest Cassel. To make it worth the $1.4 million, the strawberries are served with a $24,850 Charles X crystal liquor.

And in Golf the goal is to get to the hole on each part of the course in the fewest number of strokes... this translates into fewest number of characters.
@drachenstern The waveform is correct, the amplitude is just wrong. the +1 * 127 part isn't making it fill the range of a uint8 as I expected, or something.
@TehShrike, it is a bit of a chicken vs egg kind of thing. There aren't many questions to answer because there aren't many people asking those types of questions...because there aren't....etc
Contrary to the popular code-golf challenges which demonstrate the genius of many regulars here, I'd like to see that genius illustrated in an antithetical fashion.
The challenge is to successfully perform "Hello World" with special focus on over-complicating matters. Not verbosity, not obscurit...
How can I download news videos from web automatically. I have a slow Internet connection which takes lots of time to buffer videos. So I was thinking of some soft that can automatically fetch/synchronize videos from websites to my HDD on daily routine, from websites that legally provide news vid...
@MichaelMrozek They're just stalling for time while they try to figure out how to tell you that they've destroyed the docs you want and have disavowed any connection to you.

Hungarian notation is an identifier naming convention in computer programming, in which the name of a variable or function indicates its type or intended use. There are two types of Hungarian notation: Systems Hungarian notation and Apps Hungarian notation.
Hungarian notation was designed to be language-independent, and found its first major use with the BCPL programming language. Because BCPL has no data types other than the machine word, nothing in the language itself helps a programmer remember variables' types. Hungarian notation aims to remedy this by providing the programmer with e...
Complaining your sites aren't attracting experts because they're full of n00b questions while simultaneously assuming they'll come eventually doesn't make sense to me.
@TimPost, well maybe just use a different elevator. Even if you have to wait. I used to work a company that had one elevator that would act really strange. (Open half way, stop half way and do nothing for a few seconds, etc.)
@jzd the selection process is also fubar. It's quite happy to send the left elevator eleven floors UP when the one on the right is just a floor above me
Why do so many people insist on putting a space between words and question marks? Is this actually considered correct practice in some parts of the world, and I'm just being an obnoxious American?
@mootinator At no time did feces inspire this idea, despite the producing creature.
@mootinator and everyone knows unicorns don't crap. Unicorns just spread love and if you complain about the business end that you received you get impaled.
In written English (mainly online) I often come across sentences ending with a question or an exclamation mark with a space before it. Is it always just an error or a typo? Or there are cases when it is a correct English, for example after closing parentheses or some other punctuation marks?
Nah, it's like teaching us Southerners to speak English, as tho they could be considered the same thing. I'm honestly surprised anyone in here understands a word I say.
Based on this comment, I have started building a unicorn avatar maker. It's still quite ugly, and the results aren't different enough yet, but this is what it looks like so far:

@mootinator no seriously, do you guys call that "Kraft Dinner" up there? We just call it mac&chz (granted there's a very bad type and a very good type and that's the very bad type pictured there)
> If I had a 1,000,000 > We wouldn't have to walk to the store > If I had a 1,000,000 > We'd take a limousine cause it costs more > If I had a 1,000,000 We wouldnt have to eat Kraft dinner (but we would eat Kraft Dinner, we'd just eat more)
but as for the voting box on the homepage and question listing pages, i don't use bgcolors. in fact, i don't do that for Beta and Final SE site designs.
@Jin The answer counts aren't hideously contrasty on other sites though. AskUbuntu is close, but the background colour there isn't white anyway so that's OK.
Anyway, as I mentioned in the comment, I'll wait until the fix is pushed to see if I can live with it.
@Jin Well, right now it kind of bothers my eyes. It's possible that it's just because of the favourite question issue though, so I'll trust your judgment (as I have reason to)... for now :P
