@Chacha102 As one of the more active participants in the contest, I must say no. Those who do not desire a change won't be harmed either way. They don't care, didn't participate, and shouldn't mind.
@Josh I considered posting "The Tavern (General)" as an answer on that thread, but by the time I thought of it I figured there was no way it would ever catch up to the others
had it been important enough to these rebels, no rationale would have stopped them from rejecting our propsed change of name!

@Chacha102 I would like to submit to the court an objection -- The suggestion "The Foo Bar" is not permissible on the grounds that "Foo" is not widely considered to be an adjective!

@MichaelMrozek If you're not happy, you can just leave and do something else, and simply check in every 15-20 messages to see if it's over (like I'm doing).
I'm new to all of these technologies. I would like to see a simple (not over the top) example of how you would set up a project with these technologies. The most important being the proper NHibernate session handling (using HttpContext). Or we can build off of what I already have.

From seeing the discussion in the past 45 minutes, the court finds that no name change is necessary. The bounty of 200 reputation has been awarded to The Foo Bar as it was the highest voted, but the members of the chatroom has not found it necessary to change the name to one of the submissions.
The court hereby rules that for the rest of the day, the Tavern shall remain "The Tavern of Insanity", and may be changed to "The Tavern" after that...

@Chacha102 I should have been so lucky! Back in my day, we ran all of our "movies" off of 3.5" floppies! And by "movies," I mean the two endlessly swapping images that passed for "animation" in The Oregon Trail! And those poor settlers' oxen were walking uphill the whole time! Shoeless! In the snow! Both ways, if you needed to return to a town for supplies! And there was cholera!
Interesting, I never refreshed my chat window, so you still look like Josh to me, but clicking the reply arrow fills in the proper "TheUnhandledException" name.
@BoltClock they were "all the rage" when chat was in public beta, and now they're only used sparingly for comedic effect (i.e. the proper way) or in one big wall of red when a couple of people who didn't know about statuses realize that they, too, can make red tags appear in chat, how absolutely adorable! (i.e. the wrong way).
And we just had a red wall phase pass by a few minutes ago, so it ought to be pretty quiet for a little while, status-tag-wise.
Ha! I knew it. You didn't like the name Foo Bar. Well, that's why I posted more names here and on meta StackOverflow thread. And, my gravatar is insane, too :-)

But that said, and at the risk of starting a really dumb argument, I do think the status tag thing is overdone. It's just my personal opinion, I'm not telling you you can't do it, I just think it's silly.
@Fosco, okay, seriously, I agree with you. It's pretty sweet. I don't think I could even figure out how to write an IM client like this, much less a multiuser chat.
