@Derpy oh, you started to watch them! I think you have to start with E7 or E8, you'd watched those earlier but didn't say much about it.
Also, note that you now have to watch not only like ten MLP episodes, but also the three episodes of EG5 and the 14 (seriously) EG5 summertime shorts (most of them are really short though, many are just two or three minutes, the longest ones are six or seven minutes)

2:58 AM
@Derpy I don't know. The storywriter clearly planned it, but I don't know if Rarity did.

@b_jonas I already has some comments on ep 7 and it is hard to say anything on ep8.

1:01 PM
BTW, they again managed to "sell the toy before the movie/episode it appears in"
also notice that since they hosted the limited time ingame event to get that character BEFORE the movie aired, you are basically going to miss something either way.
If you don't want to see the character before the movie you then lose the (only) opportunity to get it, if you want the character you have at least to spoil it appearance
how will the Phoebe mini-arc end?
Heartwarming "If Pheeebe is watching Hi and see you soon at school"
or should we discover that on the other side Dakota is waiting for the frenemy comment?

2:01 PM
@Derpy lol
@Derpy they've been selling toys for the movie way longer than that, and the toys and even advertisment for the toys give away the suprise of where the Mane Six will travel that's outside Equestria. (I've mentioned this already, but I didn't want to spoil it because you indicated you didn't see those toys)
@Derpy (I don't seriously believe that, because I managed to say some things about it on the gitp forum, and so have others, and it wasn't hard)
(I even commented on the broccoli. Satsumas strangely return in the Harry Potter books three times, so maybe all of magical power is actually secretly connected to satusmas, and satsumas are the most magical fruit like seven is the most magical number. Broccolis probably have some secret power over Equestria.)
((If you read carefully, it turns out two of the three mentions of satsuma are probably related, so there's not that much of a coincidence.))
Also gocomics.com/phoebe-and-her-unicorn/2017/08/27 "plastic chair"? I think we mostly sat on chairs with metal pipe frame and wooden seat and back, not plastic ones in school.

@b_jonas funny enough if you are referencing "the swimming ones", no mention about those was made in the game
Songbird Serenade is happily living in my city now alongside with some other minor characters that I suspect are tied to her, but no sign of the ones from the toy I believe you are referencing

2:17 PM
As for more serious stuff, does S7 E8 remind you of S4 E12 Pinkie Pride?
@Derpy Yeah. And also swimming versions of the Mane Six.
And the castle in that country.

no sea ponies in the game. People hoped for it but nothing yet. That said, the game still doesn't really distinguish between Ponyville and Cloudsdale
@b_jonas ? maybe I am miss-remembering but I am not sure I get what you mean.
(that said, the fact I am currently working around the usual "IE does not implement this standard ecmascript function every other browser has" doesn't really help my focus)

@Derpy In S7 E8, Big Mac and Feather Bangs compete for Sugar Belle, in front of Sugar Belle, but in the end they get so riled up that they just try to top each other and completely forget whether Sugar Belle even enjoys it. Similarly, in S4 E12, both Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich originally try to throw Rainbow Dash the best party, but in the end they go so overboard competing each other that they forget the original purpose of what matters for Rainbow Dash and just care about competing.
This eventually gets resolved in both episodes: Big Mac and Pinkie realize this and stop and learn a lesson.
And eventually Big Mac builds an apple selling stand for Sugar Belle which Sugar Belle actually likes, and Pinkie Pie throws a party for Rainbow Dash that Rainbow actually enjoys.
Yes, there are also differences, the two episodes aren't redundant, I'm just saying it reminds me of that.
(Also, I like to worth to read the reactions by other viewers on the GitP forums. Some of them almost always give me some new insight for any episode that I wouldn't have noticed.)

@b_jonas I see. Yep, that is somehow similar, even if the original reason is different.
Is season 4 Rainbow Dash party is just an excuse straight from the start, while the conflict in season 7 is indeed centered around Sugar Belle.
While in Hard To Say Anything the ponies are competing for attention from Sugar and end up disregarding her in the race for the more flashy display, it seems that the moving forces in Pinkie Pride are different.
In a way, I think that the focus for Cheese never was about Rainbow. Cheese is doing all he does just to impress Pinkie. Pinkie is the one that changed his life, his model and he wants to show he can also be a great party pony.
Dashie party is only the way, never the purpose.
Probably, he even got there at the right time because he managed to know about the party and decided it could be the right time to try to impress Pinkie.
as for Pinkie, the title suggest she is moved by "Pride", but I don't think it is the case.
She is moved by fear.
Fear to be forgotten.
Fear to be alone.
As I said, the best part of the Mane six is that they are flawed. Each one has a distinct element/virtue, but they also have a characterizing issue. For Pinkie the issue is the constant fear to be alone (or surrounded by sad people)
Again, the wording of the Smile Song is pretty accurate.
> 'Cause I love to make you smile, smile, smile Yes I do
It fills my heart with sunshine all the while Yes it does
'Cause all I really need's a smile, smile, smile
From these happy friends of mine
First she says she loves to make others smile.
But then she says she needs those smiles.
Said it before.
Pinkie is pretty close to Dashie.
The second one has insecurity problems and needs to be reminded she is good.
The first is constantly risking to fall into depression and needs happiness to stay happy.
Based on season 7, Rainbow parents may be the cause. They kept overpraising her even when she failed, to the point that those praises must have felt empty.
