Feature Request: Instead of using the gigantic logo image when oneboxing sites, could we perhaps try ![site_name](favicon.ico) [site_name](site) instead? The following seems a bit much, at least to me:
Feature Request: Can the paging buttons go at the bottom of the stars list? It's kind of awkward to have to scroll back up.
I'd also ask for a way to only search in starred messages, but I feel like that's getting greedy ;)

@TimStone actually that's pretty easy
@TimStone that's not unreasonable
@TimStone marketing, baby!

@TimStone I requested that months and months ago ):

Did you request it backwards?

that's the problem, see
[pǝʇǝʃdɯoɔ-snʇɐʇs]
except, not... yet...

Would it make more sense to move the paging controls on the stars page to the bottom? It feels a bit counter-intuitive to scroll down scanning for the starred item you're looking for, only to have to go to the top of the page to go to the next page.

8:04 PM
@MarcGravell Well, in that case I that too!
Also, awesome, thanks. :)

February 2011? We didn't listen to rchern back then.

obviously ):

I shall consider it [ʇsǝnbǝɹ-ǝɹnʇɐǝɟ]

I feature request that you fix the regex just to handle ^^ (:
@balpha though this was after I was hired!

They didn't have enough time to start to fear you yet, clearly.

Is anyone else noticing a lack of "oy"s over the past months?

@balpha I was about to file a bug report

search work to your liking?

ok you lot, what're we breaking now?
@MarcGravell no, it needs to ignore <a> tags inline in the text

what now?

10:00 PM
for instance "messages</a> moved" or whatever the new thing is

?????

@MarcGravell Works great!

there's a hyperlink. I showed it to balpha a while back

you could do my other search feature request...to allow searching for a user without requiring text to search for.

you should ignore all html elements in the searched for text?

10:01 PM
1 message moved to Sandbox

@RebeccaChernoff that would be handy

@RebeccaChernoff Did you want me to request that for you?

@TimStone yes please!

@MarcGravell yes, see that </a> in between message and moved?
in Tavern on the Meta, Dec 8 '11 at 16:49, by balpha
the "n messages moved to X" messages aren't showing up in search results, is that what you mean?

ah, right
yeah, well, that's a pain

10:03 PM
yeah, I know
I thought ya'll were looking for work ;-)

I mean "a pain to fix", not "a pain to use"

parsing around opening and closing tags would be good
iow: make it work in jQuery ;-)
.text()

sure, now all I need to do is figure out how to call jQuery from SQL Server Full Text Search
and we'll be golden!

That sounds like a super plan

@RebeccaChernoff Actually, what's the use case for this?

10:04 PM
@TimStone seeing if they've talked in a room, for starters

the other option, actually: not a bad option: would be - investigate switching over to lucene

sorting all their messages (stupid reading while typing)

and build the lucene document without the html

@TimStone "dammit I know <x> said something like this, but I just can't get the f'ing keyword search to spit it back out" >_<

Hmm, I guess that's happened to me before.

10:05 PM
@TimStone many many times?

Not really, I usually remember the keyword after a while. :P

isn't a better option there something more like a per-person transcript? not sure the search UI helps w/ that

Feature Request: Allow me to see all messages posted by a particular user. Perhaps instead of, or in complement to, the "recent" tab, we could have a general activity tab that listed the participated-in rooms and that user's messages for each.

the search would basically be a bastardized version of that, sure.

could make a mod-only plain-text transcript, no problem
you just click that, then scan/search in the text dump
that work?
(presumably with a time window)

10:16 PM
@MarcGravell no, because me and Tim want it too
The other problem with such an FR is that you would have to compute it per user requesting.
For instance, I don't need to see all SEI Employees stuff in the SEI rooms, nor private rooms on this server. But ya'll do us, vice versa

I wouldn't mind it, but I admittedly don't care that much. ;)
The latter point is rather a non-issue if you require a particular room to be selected first, which seems more sane anyway.

@TimStone Ah, yes it does
Except when you want to spot spammy activity
In which case the mod-only view would be good
So in other words @MarcGravell ... "Yes, please"

Although the prospect of seeing a one-sided, cross-room transcript on chat.SE amuses me...but I digress.

I think it amuses all of us.
I need fluids. I shall return.
