Would it make sense for a multi-line post to just be parsed as though the user sent each line individually? It bothers me that things like this don't work:
> I'm a quote, but I don't get formatted as one
I end up sending each line as fast as I can and hoping someone else doesn't talk in the meantime to break up my message

5:29 PM
no, that would encourage people to write up a whole novel and sending it all at once
that totally defeats the purpose of a chat
what's the big deal with someone breaking your combo?

@balpha It's somewhat harder to follow what I was saying if there's random messages in the middle of it
Why can we send multi-line posts if it "totally defeats the purpose of a chat"?

for stuff like copy/pasting some lines of code, a few interesting paragraphs from a blog post, etc.

But I can't do: I found this in a blog post guys, it's hysterical:
> Quote from the blog post
But there's nothing stopping me from: I found this in a blog post guys, it's hysterical:
> Quote from the blog post

> Hmm, is quote not the > character?

@rchern You need a space after it

5:42 PM
Ah, didn't think that was it since you have > Q above there

@rchern That's the difference I'm describing in:

The first version I typed was a two-line submission; then I sent two separate lines

oooooh
gets it now :P

If you access chat on an iphone, there's no login link. and if you click on a room without being logged in: lolcat.
3 minor suggestions: Add All Rooms to the menu (bottom left), scroll to the bottom when the page loads so that you don't have to scroll to find the input, and maybe make the textarea just an input so that the return button is actually a send button?

Lolcat is odd. All rooms is top, but menu would be better, yes.
Ret used to send. Was removed due to high grew errors.
(mobile only)
Grew=freq

Hmm, really? It's awkward to then go find the send button (imo).
And yeah, I saw Rooms at the top, but it looks like there's room in the menu dialog for it and then it'd be in the same spot. Figured I'd at least mention it.

well, the menu is only three hours old :)

Oh, hehe!
(it's also a departure as enter can be used on the web version to send the text)

there are two problems with enter:
1) it's quite easy to hit by accident with on-screen keyboards
2) mobile safari sometimes ignores it

6:11 PM
I'd say 1) is irrelevant. Not my fault people can't type. :P It also happens occasionally on a regular keyboad, someone going for a quote but hitting enter. No special handling to prevent enter sending text there though.
As for 2), uh...huh? ):

@balpha - loving the mobile menus

my good deed for the sunday :)

Slicker than a slick thing that has been oiled especially for slickness.

...wow lol

More slick than the gulf of Mexico.
(too soon?)

2 hours later…
8:03 PM
Is there a way to get from the transcript screen back to the rooms screen without using the back button? I know the back button is the correct way but it can be quite confusing at times

No, that link is kinda missing.

Can I tag that feature request: A button on the transcript back to the room overview or rooms page or both?

Noted and agreed :)

Thanks :)
