idk if this is a good idea (it's certainly not an easily distributed one!) to use a WinJS/PHP mashup via xhr requests. It's the only way I can use assigned access and get access to the global filesystem.
@Sam That's what I've just (at least, almost) fixed. What I ended up doing is adding a PHP page that can only be accessed by 127.0.0.1 which copies the folders and creates indexes.
@Sam To be specific, I use Windows.Storage.ApplicationData.current.localFolder and friends to return the path of the appdata folder and jQuery ajax to send it to PHP and wait for the response.
@Sam This works also because we may add videos in the future, as well. I originally had a PHP script that just reiterated images in base64, but that had its own load of issues.
@Sam It could be, but for the user-side, there will be a number of users who are not tech-savvy who need to upload media. And for the viewer-side, I don't think FTP is easily feasible.
