In the page where I choose chat rooms it's confusing that when I click the middle of a room's box and hit someone's photo that I get to that person's profile rathe than to the room.
@MarcGravell having the whole transcript load when you access the page isn't great i don't think, perhaps showing the latest 100, then the ability to go further previous
Marc / Jeff - How long do user created rooms last? Is it like IRC where it disappears (lights go out) as the last person leaves? Or does it just hang around?
@Jeff, @Marc, maybe you should change the tagline of this room to "Go play in the sandbox first and then come back here and tell us what you think, and if the answer to your question is in the FAQ, you will be banned for 30mins" ;)
feedback: when I create chat room from a question, it looks like the question asker has posted the first message. See for example: chat.meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/59728/… . It looks like Jonas posted the question link, when in fact I posted it.
@MarcGravell I mostly use OS X's built in screen-reader, just to select a bunch of text and have it read aloud, don't use voiceover or any other full-on system
@Scott @Jeff Atwood at least the SO algorithm for auto-generated avatars don't generate swastika-like symbols like the one on social.msdn.microsoft.com :)
Out of interest, how lightweight/heavy is this in terms of server load? What if 10,000 users create their own room? Presumably just creating a room hardly any resources...
ah well, this was fun. now I need to go and finish the next generation of my EFv4 model comparer... back later when today's milestones are checked in...
well, I'm exhausted. headed to bed. any chat feedback, leave it here, if you think it's useful, star it .. oh and READ THE FAQ :) chat.meta.stackoverflow.com/faq
@David a few hundred concurrent. To be honest, it doesn't put much strain on the server at all. I'm sure it'll scale higher as long as the NICs hold up.
