I don't know, I watched neither. I have no interest in Twilight, I only heard others speak negatively of it in the background, and my first introduction to MLP was a pornographic version of it.

I was in elementary school, a friend told me to search for MLP online, and that was the first thing that popped up.

@SPArcheon Yes. It's quite common in Europe, as far as I'm concerned. NRK, for instance, the public broadcaster. Everything is freely available on their website if you're in Norway, but if you're abroad, some content gets locked down, and you have to log in to see it.

Blu ray disk can be assigned to one of three regions as per the map above. Players from another region wont' play the disk. (you can leave a disk "region free" but those are quite rare)

for this reason many use hardware modifications - that are LEGAL - to bypass this lock.

Furthermore, some civilized countries (ie: countries not ruled by disgusting dinosaurs) actually just sell region free players

See: Australia and the Lazer brand.

Now, so far all is quite simple:

if you live in EU and want to play a US region A disk you need either a region A import player or a region free modified player

Forget that for a second.

Never heard of that. Blu-ray was just a small pass in time for me. I think my family bought less than 20 discs, then we stopped buying discs altogether. Nowadays, I still have my PS3, but no blu-ray disks for it. I guess the PS5 also supports it.

Because America and Japan are both region A someone living in Japan could import a movie from America and have it play normally. This is called "reverse import" and would be very common with anime.

Why? Simple. Because in Japan anime blu ray cost A LOT. Like... a two episode disk costs like the whole 23 episode season in america.

That approach is...

"Geo-locking"

Geo-locking means that instead of looking to the player "region" the disk checks the player "Country" which is a separate setting.

This means an EU region free player is still recognized as a "EU" country player and won't play the disk.

So, either you have to own an actual region A US player (import from Amazon us) or...
