@Shadow Could you check what happened to meta.stackexchange.com/questions/334900/… ? (still 5k short of 10k :] )

7:35 AM
@Zoethetransgirl got some red flags but deleted via VLQ or NAA review. meta.stackexchange.com/review/low-quality-posts/67641

Oh. Thanks ^^

Hi all. Ive been away for long. And a bit shocked by the new war.

@DragandDrop Hey
and please no talk about that new war thing! That is unnecessary imo.

Well I had a question, and wanted asked it here as Im pretty sure I already have hinted/disclose it here. C

Okay
I miss old time when I could crack jokes, humors etc. Now I am too scared.
Now I am even scared to do anime way of talking with @Zoe

@TheLittleNaruto Eh, the CoC is still identical, just with a pronoun clause. There's none of that which can be applied here

12:23 PM
@Zoethetransgirl All by itself, a minor change to the CoC would have been a fait divers...
@DragandDrop Firing a mod over it is what made it into a big kerfuffle.
Some employees have been around less than some of us and they don't grok it.

@Fabby I have no idea what those last two words mean :]

@Zoethetransgirl Grok /ˈɡrɒk/ is a neologism coined by American writer Robert A. Heinlein for his 1961 science fiction novel Stranger in a Strange Land. While the Oxford English Dictionary summarizes the meaning of grok as "to understand intuitively or by empathy, to establish rapport with" and "to empathize or communicate sympathetically (with); also, to experience enjoyment",[1] Heinlein's concept is far more nuanced
For more info: read the novel...
The novel itself is an explanation of the word.
Until you do read the novel, just substitute "grok" for "understand"
0:-)

um, where's "grok" used?
oh, you probably missed the reply
I meant these:
> fait divers

12:39 PM
@Zoethetransgirl That's perfect English: trying to think of something that explains it well.
like one of the classifieds in newspapers: it would have been a small thing...

I mean: 99% of people are willing enough to call anyone anythey they want to be called...
... people don't like:
* to be pushed around doing voluntary
* for the SE employees preaching one thing and doing another
* not respecting people that are respected
etc.
...
That's why it's such a shitshow kerfuffle.

ker what? :D

what do you think @Zoethetransgirl ?

Well as a french with DID, If you use a plural pronom for me, you might just tilt my self so mutch . that I might sit in a corner an IP block SO for a week. I will just feel discovered and cornered. But I don't feel like editing my bio.

12:43 PM
@Fabby 99% is a bit high

@Shadow Britisch slang to say shitshow without saying shitshow

@Fabby poopy show!
!!poo

~ 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩 💩

Even writing it broke my english.

@Zoethetransgirl Have you ever run into people actively not accepting you as you are?
@xdtTransform Understood...

12:45 PM
@Dragan hey, what's the question then?

I use @ username or "hey you" OP anyway...

@Fabby rude according to new CoC.
We MUST use whatever the other person is asking us to use.

@Shadow Yeah, the reason I'm bailing...

@Fabby I've run into multiple these past two weeks.

I'm still logging on, but will not work the queues, give answers, .... any more.

12:46 PM
@Fabby same. I'll probably not be in SE soon.

@Shadow I've got your contact details anyway.

If you dig deep enough into the surface web related to the SE drama, you'll find a ton of people

@Zoethetransgirl Did it start when the new CoC was about to be published or when you changed your username?

Especially around the chan message board thingies

@Fabby Telegram

12:47 PM
@Shadow stalin (?)

@FOX9000 dictator

@Shadow adolf (?)

@Shadow Yup. No WhatsApp for me.

hehe
@Fabby me knows ;)

@Zoethetransgirl I've always thought you were a quirky girl is all.
(That's a good thing in my opinion)

12:49 PM
@Fabby It escalated in general around the time Monica was fired and the reason why emerged. I haven't been very open about it though, but I've dealt with a couple direct trolls

Go for it! Follow your dreams! @Zoethetransgirl

@Fabby I am ^^"

@Zoethetransgirl Trolls will be trolls. I was bullied when I was your age and it just made me stronger.
(well, a bit younger then you, same decade though)

I've dealt with bullies for years. It didn't make me stronger in the long run

@xdtTransform Never thought about "they" in a DID way...
But even "hey you" in English must be difficult to you as it's both singular and plural whereas in French it's not.
Hmmm... unless someone is polite to you...
Which languages do you speak? @xdtTransform

12:53 PM
French, mostly.

@Zoethetransgirl It will once it's all behind you...
@xdtTransform I know a few languages that are clearer than French and English.
(but then: they're engineering languages) ;-)

@Fabby it is behind me though. it did a lot more damage in the long run than good

@Zoethetransgirl Well, here you're accepted for who you are.
^_^

Is you plural? Didn't knew about that. It's somehow wired as singular in my head.

That's one of the reasons I spend so much time here ^^"
@xdtTransform It's singular and plural

12:56 PM
@xdtTransform I, you, he/she/it, we, you, they
in EN it's both "tu" and "vous"...

A bit like "they", it can reference to an individual or a group. If I say "you" that can mean you (xdtTransform), or a group (i.e. xdtTransform and Fabby)

Je, tu, il/elle/on, Nous, Vous, Ils/Elles

And I have no issue with the 'Tutoiement'/'Vouvoiement' as it's older and linked to beeing polite.

Funny that in French there are only two gender-neural forms: "on" and "ça": everything else is either male or female...
On y va / ça va.

My language has a gender-neutral pronoun that isn't a part of the dictionary yet. But there's a bunch of gender-neutral alternatives to pronouns

12:59 PM
@Zoethetransgirl Norwegian is like French then? everything has a gender?
@Zoethetransgirl Is "The table" male or female in Norwegian?

Fabby, linguist argue that there is only one gender in french and it's female. Everything is male-genderless without distinction.

@xdtTransform :D :D :D
Good one!
IMHO, French is a perfect split between male and female with just 2 words being gender-neutral...
In French it's "la table" (female)
In German it's "der tisch" (male)

"Le masculin l'emporte sur le feminin" is just a dictont a easy way to remember that the gender neutral is male. And it went wrong and miss interpreted.

I'm waiting for the day that you humans meet some trisexual aliens...
(me not being human of course...)
>:-)
Anyway: grabbing some grub...

@Fabby yep

1:04 PM
TTYL8R

@Fabby "et bord", so neuter.

@Zoethetransgirl So you do have a neuter form: French does not.
Everything is either male or female...

Yep. but we don't have a gender-neutral pronoun, which is kinda ironic

Oh??? That's weird
So you you cannot say "the table is made, it has been made"???
(untranslatable in Norwegian?)

Like I said, there's an unofficial one which is a construct of the two gendered forms (hun og han (she/him in that order) -> hen (the unofficial gender-neutral))
@Fabby No, that translates, but using "det"

1:07 PM
@Zoethetransgirl So, that's gender-neutral.

I guess I mean we don't have an equivalent of singular "they"

@Zoethetransgirl I meant the equivalent of "it"'. (my preferred pronoun)

oh, we have that
det/dets

'It's perfectly grammatical and it exists today)
I'm just old and want to re-use things that already exist.
In French, "it" does not exist.
The closest you can come is "that"...
but "it" is untranslatable in French.

1:10 PM
Yup...
:D :D :D
Now you probably grok what the hell I was talking about
Before, you understood, now you grok ...
And with that, I'm going to eat some lunch!!!

HUNGRY!!!

cya o/
@Fabby Actually, just to make sure I understood - do you use it/its?

1:47 PM
@Shadow No more question, needed to cool of somehow. Will ask to my wife to edit my bio, so I don't face the wrong pronom. And as it's not me, I just have to ignore my profil long enough for it to get into amnesia.

2:43 PM
@Zoethetransgirl No!

I just want other people to use it / its for me...
(me being an energetic, non-corporeal alien and all that...)
;-) 0:-)
A Vorlon is a member of a fictional alien species in the Babylon 5 television series and fictional universe. The Vorlon species is a member of the First Ones, a group composed of the earliest species to gain sentience in the galaxy. When in the presence of other species, Vorlons wear encounter suits. == Homeworld == Little is known of the Vorlon home-world other than its name, which is also Vorlon. Vorlon territory was restricted to other alien species and every known expedition into Vorlon space failed to return to their respective governments. Much like their First One brethren The Shadows...

@Fabby that's what I meant ^^"
> Much like their First One brethren The Shadows

Ah, I thought you misunderstood that I was going to use that on you!
(no way!)

@Shadow stop infiltrating planets!!!!!!1 :P
@Fabby Oh, no! Sorry, I should've been clearer

2:47 PM
No apologies needed!
(just trying to be clear: I want to be perfectly, gender / race / religious / age / grammar / politically / .... neutral. )
And even when you're absolutely neutral, you can't please everyone...
E.G. My political views are: moderate anarchist
I.E. the ideal government is no government at all, but it'll take a while before we're all neutral enough so that it'll actually work...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Shadow חג סוכות שמח
P.S. Where do I put the "!"?
beginning left or end right or not at all?
