@Catija I'm not sure if that is the driver behind these kind of questions. It is more based on I can't have rep easy, lets find some argument to get that changed. So the obsession is the gamification. What interests me is how those different rules make that you get a completely different site while at first sight they seem to be the same. I believe that is the deeper value behind that question.

I admit it is not asked that way but the answers, specially the one of Shog9, address how the rules help realizing the vision/goal of SE.
