7:11 PM
room topic changed to The Tavern hallway: where the iPad meh-ers are hiding out

@RebeccaChernoff Nice and quiet. Also closer to the heating/AC vent, which is always a plus.
You've been pretty quiet since you started your new job; are there Important, Time-Consuming Goings-On in Stack Exchange Land?

I approve of this room
2

@PopularDemand Well I used to chat so much because I was avoiding my boring job q:

@RebeccaChernoff That's... a less exciting answer than I might have hoped for, if I'd thought about it.

7:23 PM
@balpha what room(s) don't you approve of? (:
@PopularDemand hmm, sorry (;

the tavern, currently. yaaaawwwnn

The tavern, usually. yaaaawwwnn

I really don't get the point of an iPad. |:
Why would someone want to do movie editing on a device like that?
somebody else can drink my serving of Apple Kool-Aid (;

Because you're not thinking like your mom. Take her an iPad and put a lot of photos and home videos on it and show her how to facebook with it.
Then ask her if it's a good device
It's not really a device for developers, and developers tend to forget that.
It's a consumer device, for people who like to consume actively.
You are not a consumer. You are not an angst-ridden teenager.

@RebeccaChernoff You're coming dangerously close to violating the room description!

7:28 PM
You will never use it like a 15 year old
@PopularDemand and I already extend way past it ;)
I'm spilling the kool-aid on you people :p

@drachenstern Yeah, I'm getting around to throwing you out.

My mom has an iPhone. And after a year, has downloaded perhaps one app. She uses it as a phone and nothing more. So I think my mom may be a bad example. q:
@PopularDemand huh? I'm very meh about it. Actually, I'm probably less than meh. But I will stop mentioning it as well. (:

Have you given her an iPad loaded with photos and home videos? I don't expect my mom to load a lot of apps on one if I but one for her, but I expect her to really like the capacity to show off things like with pics. But yeah, I get your point. ;)
and I'm going to lunch ;)

@RebeccaChernoff I was only joking.
@drachenstern You can't expect "stereotypical mom" to describe "Rebecca Chernoff's mom," or any one real-world individual.

She does have some pictures on her phone, but she doesn't really show them off. Actually, she (I assume, didn't hear back) synced her phone with the computer for the first time (again, she's had it for over a year) because he coworker told her about an anesthesia (guess what she does...) app and the app requires the updated iOS version.

7:35 PM
> where the iPad meh-ers are hiding out

But she also doesn't see the point in fun things like digital photo frames, which proudly sits out on the counter...off, without a memory stick in it.

I have come to the right place

@TheRenamedException Welcome!

@RebeccaChernoff LOL.

7:35 PM
@RebeccaChernoff Those things are a waste of valuable electricity.

My mother is completely hopeless when it comes to technology, LOL
@Rebecca I assume you saw the Ask Different THCD?

When she first got it, she put one single picture on it. That was almost worse than just having it off LOL
@TheRenamedException you know what happens when you assume... o:

Q: 2011 Moderator Election - Town Hall Chat Digest

JoshThe following is a "digest" version of the 2011 Moderator Election Town Hall Chat. The format, as described on Meta Stack Overflow, is one answer to this question for every question asked in the Town Hall, containing all the candidate's answers to that question. To view the digest chronologicall...

@TheRenamedException Heh, THCD. Sounds like a cheap knockoff of xkcd you'd pick up a block away from Times Square.

@TheRenamedException thanks! We good to freeze the room?

7:38 PM
LOL. I could have written THCd which sounds like some variant of the active ingredient in pot. I do wonderis anyone at Google wonders why I have like 5 documents labeled "THC Notes"
@RebeccaChernoff I think so, yeah. There's a 6th candidate, but, do we know if he's interested in answering the questions?

Also don't thank me, Tim did at least 50% of the work on this one
@RebeccaChernoff maybe I am mistaken

He did reply to my email but wasn't really available. So he knows about it at least. shrugs
I'll leave the room open I suppose.

@RebeccaChernoff I would suggest freezing the room and emailing Philip back and asking him to let you know if he wants to respond, and you will unfreeze the room. But it's your call

Meh. Leaving the room open isn't really hurting anything. It looked like there were a few questions that could use some more responses so maybe others have things to add also.

7:44 PM
sounds fine to me. I was thinking you wanted to freeze them

Not sure how much it really matters honestly.

Yeah me neither
