I don't understand the anti-security mentality demonstrated earlier in the buffer. Developing exploits for vulnerabilities is part of essentially system administrative responsibilities. At the very least, being able to test for vulnerabilities both known and unknown. If you think you have vulnerable software, it often takes an exploit to confirm this without question. Otherwise, you're just making an assumption, which is often based on incomplete facts.
Furthermore, security research is absolutely essentially for us to keep secure systems and infrastructure. Without it, we're sitting ducks. Often, this research includes exploit development and verification.
