OK, fueled up, ready to kick this bug's ass

12 hours later…
1:52 PM
@TheUnhandledException and anyone else willing to help... I got the importing of old code to work, but now I can't set an FTP to the project and I think I got a wrong kind of project. I'm trying to use either WebObjects or MVC, dunno which one the code was made on, but it's a web application with ASPX made in VB.
so I'm still cluelessly researching about that.

2:03 PM
Sorry, was AFK

that's cool... do you think you can shred me a light there? :P
I said it's a web application, now I'm not sure even about that.

I'm not sure I totally understand the question... sorry :-)

hate msdn, way too technical

2:26 PM
quite simple. let's say I want to build a website in vb aspx using Visual Studio. how would I begin
brb

Sorry @Cawas, I have a very busy day today, not much time to help until after 5pm EST
Ask for help in The Tavern, ask ASPX pros people to come in here to help you out

@TheUnhandledException cool, sure do. =)

you're just trying to build a website?
File > New... > Web Site...

@JoePhillips nope, I'm trying to get an existing website into Visual Studio, and I never done anything .NET before.
looks like there is MVC and Web Objects, Web Applications and Web Sites, and all kinds of different names in this complicated glossary of .NET...
between those two, I definitely am looking for a Web Site.
/away

4:24 PM
i've only done MVC and ASP.NET Webforms

1 hour later…
5:27 PM
@JoePhillips and how you do to make File > New > Project from existing files to make the project a MVC?

5:38 PM
@Cawas if it isnt already an MVC project then you would have to convert your entire architecture into MVC... that's no small task

@JoePhillips how can I know? it is aspx vb. it just have no project file that I can find.

can you open it as a website? does it have any DLL files? what does the file structure look like?

@JoePhillips it works as website, yeah. on a simple IIS. right at this momment I cant verify if there are any DLL, but I don't think there is.

2 hours later…
7:49 PM
New day, new bug
Does anyone know if it's not acceptable to dynamically create and insert an <iframe> into a hidden <div> tag, and show that <div> dynamically using JavaScript? When I test this in FireBug, the iFreme opens empty, instead of showing the URL I assigned to it...

8:02 PM
strange. Can't say I've ever tried that

8:12 PM
Would be a major rewrite for my software. experimenting with options
Changing the SRC after showing the iFrame seems to work

@TheUnhandledException I have no idea, lol... but it sounds to me like too much for javascript.
if it's a hidden div, why would you need to dynamically create the iframe anyway?

sorry, headed to a meeting, bbs and I'll explian :-)

8:32 PM
;)
