9:38 AM
Argh, I just rembered what I forgot to do because I was too busy with my computer…

3 hours later…
12:38 PM
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact good. Sadly can't see it leading to any actual arrest.
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda Time will tell. It usually takes a few years…
At least it’s a good symbol, and it decreases their freedom of movement.
Although I’m kinda disappointed the warrant does not include more individuals.
I am not sure to the extent they are able to investigate and prove crimes any further by other Hamas leaders, but they should definitely be able to persue more members of the Israeli government.
Benjamin and Yoav are most definitely not the only guilty individuals there.
12:54 PM
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact in few years it won't be relevant, he'll be replaced anyway, likely by his son who's now having vacation in the USA.
And Gallant is just a useless puppy anyway.
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact nah, he's rude enough to go everywhere, and think there's some diplomatic protection rule that prevents arrest even when there's a warrant. No?
NRK’s article on the decision is including some nonsensical commentary from other Hamas leaders and Israeli politicians. What a world.
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda No, all countries bound by the ICC are legally required to arrest them. Not sure if there’s a specific clause for omitting that responsibility, though.
The USA is not a member of the ICC, so he can still visit them safely.
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact well, the nastiest scum bags are Ben Gvir and Smutrich, they're the direct cause of the direction Israel chose, they dictate Netanyahu moves - he could resist, by it would have cost him the PM-ship. So all in all, he's more evil than them. They just follow their beliefs and heart. He follows greed and power.
And as Israel is not a member of the ICC either, they’ll be free there, to. But judging by the comments even from the Israeli opposition, they’d go free in Israel even if they were members of the ICC.
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact hmm... well we'll see.
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda Just as much responsible. There should definitely be arrest warrants for them to. But I don’t think it’s reasonable to offload any blame from Benjamin.
Oh. I didn’t finish reading the message. :P
Read half, wrote mine, then read the other half.
Ben Gvir almost killed Israeli citizen in a car crash when driving on purpose in red light. He's a proven criminal.
Sounds more like irresponsible willfull traffic rule breaking, not attempted murder.
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact not attempted murder, technically, but still something that ordinary citizen would go to court over, and put into jail.
He exercised his political immunity to avoid consequences?
Why does political immunity even exist… Glad we don’t have that.
1:04 PM
The other one isn't much better, he has a vision of forcing all Palestine people to become part of Israel and become citizens, or be expelled, or killed. Likely he didn't give much details about the "what if they don't want" part.
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact he didn't have to, he's the police minister.
First doesn’t sound too bad, a united peaceful Israel/Palestine with equal rights to everyone is certainly better than today’s situation.
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact just that they won't agree to sign "I'm loyal to Israel" and become citizens, they're too proud for that, and he knows it.
I think it's what Russia tried to do in Ukraine. No?
Make the people there say/feel they're Russian.
Rename Israel to Palestine, get rid of apartheid, and the special rules for ultra orthodox Jews, as well as their special position in Knesset?
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda According to Russian authorities, I hear it’s working perfectly fine and with immense levels of fairness. Huh, they couldn’t possibly lie about that, could they?
1:20 PM
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact sounds good!
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact totally.
It doesn’t seem like the arrest warrant concerns any of the crimes that have taken place on the West Bank, only in Gaza? Weird.
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact meh, warrant is a warrant.
Although Israel isn’t a member of the ICC, Palestine is. So Israel is not obligated to hand over their leaders, but Palestine/Hamas is.

1 hour later…

Zoe
2:40 PM
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact or they could just say no

2 hours later…
5:08 PM
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact I'm certain Hamas will hand over their leaders, of course.
5:44 PM
Eeek, that scared me.
E-mail notification on my phone from Zoe.
Zoe
Zoe
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact Oh, right, because you're watching Boson's repo on GitHub
6:05 PM
For a moment, I thought you were stalking me. :P
Forgot I followed that.
Zoe
Zoe
I just noticed I had three watchers at one point, so I checked
6:17 PM
@Zoe @Andreas, @Andreas, and @Andreas?
huh that was weird, chat reloaded all of a sudden.
Zoe
Zoe
Ugh, they fucked around with transparency in the image thing
oh you changed avatar? Looks the same.
Zoe
Zoe
Didn't look like that a second ago
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda No
6:18 PM
@Zoe ah, for me it's just black, yeah.
Zoe
Zoe
But I should move the pride flag overlay into the background at some point. Would probably look better anyway
ooh, and I could switch back to the trans flag while I'm at it
ah so they probably migrated it in chat just now?
So many colours.
and i.stack.imgur redirects as well.
Zoe
Zoe
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda yep
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda /shrug
There we go
Fixed
Or at least it will be when chat updates in 6-8 centuries
6:26 PM
Imagine if the kids in Finnmark had to wear such colours on their backpacks…
Zoe
Zoe
Can't be bothered reading those articles. It's almost always just opposition from thinly veiled hate
Unless it's an article from the US, then it's just open hate
But it was all over the national news.
Zoe
Zoe
Yeah, and I read one article about it, rolled my eyes, and moved on with my life. More reason not to move back north I guess
Hey, they dragged it all the way down to Oslo, to Debatten.
Anyway, then.
Zoe
Zoe
(Not that it's the biggest reason I have; there's next to no technical jobs up north, and I'm not going to move to get a degree to then move back and work at a grocery store)
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact I don't watch Debatten
6:34 PM
Speaking of rainbows, I’m kinda annoyed that my computer case is in full rainbow colours every time I start it up, and even awake it from hibernation.
Even worse, I can’t even change the rainbow lights on the GPU. It kinda clashes with the rest of the case, when I set it to orange.
@Zoe nice! And yeah, it's up to one hour.
Zoe
Zoe
I like rainbow colours :P It's what I use basically everywhere
Rainbow colours don’t fit in here. :P
Zoe
Zoe
My keyboard is rainbows, my mouse is rainbows, and my case is rainbows. My GPU is blue and purple, which still works fine
Eeeeeeeeeek. Too much colour!
Zoe
Zoe
6:36 PM
Setting the colours on my GPU is annoying, so meh
My keyboard is white. And with no lighting. So, I guess I’d take rainbows over that.
What about this? Leaving for history sake, like me? ;) @Zoe
Zoe
Zoe
My keyboard is black, but I have a white keyboard too that I also have rainbows on :p It's a small form-factor keyboard though
I have it for when I have to leave my house and don't want to type on a fucking membrane keyboard
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda That blue is really suppressing the pink. I didn’t know Zoe is so anti-trans! ;P
Zoe
Zoe
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda I'm leaving it because updating it is annoying and I can't be bothered
6:38 PM
@Zoe Membrane’s the best.
Zoe
Zoe
can't fucking stand membrane. But it's at least better than the apple switches
There are some good membrane keyboards too, but I just don't like how the vast majority of them feel or sound
Apple keyboards are wonderful. I love them.
Zoe
Zoe
I had a tangentially related discussion with someone recently. I have an image from that discussion
@Zoe yeah, one click too much! :P
The Acer keyboard stuck inside my laptop is also great. Too bad I can’t reuse it without constructing not just a case, but the top, too.
Zoe
Zoe
6:40 PM
@ShadowWizardLoveZelda more like many
@Zoe We had a keyboard discussion recently.
Damn, can’t even remember who you to talk to people about. How wude!
Zoe
Zoe
Because I first have to manually go to stackexchange.com, then click "update", then click another button, possibly after scrolling to the right site if I ever have differences between profiles that I want to keep
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact It was on the ohmyzsh server on Discord. IT wasn't with you
@Zoe Scary name.
I’m hungry. I want cookies.
Zoe
Zoe
Red: Same key, different modifier
Blue: Different key, different modifier
Green: Different key, same modifier
Very lovely keyboard on the bottom, there.
Zoe
Zoe
6:43 PM
If you by lovely mean horrible and shouldn't exist, yes
The top layout is the ISO standard
I switch between the two types several times per day. No issues with that.
Zoe
Zoe
The bottom is the non-standard apple keyboard
@Zoe And the bottom one is more comfortable.
Zoe
Zoe
It's also so bad for coding that I ended up setting up a custom layout when I got stuck with a mac for work last year
Writing brackets and a couple other symbols without those modifications was horrible
We have completely different experiences.
I much prefer my Macbook keyboard for programming.
Zoe
Zoe
6:44 PM
There's a mac layout for norwegian on linux
Not sure how similar it is to the real mac layout, but it is garbage, so probably the same
I know. But I had to switch to the Windows layout because ' wasn’t registering anywhere.
@Zoe Weird. It’s just two keypresses for either bracket types. While on Windows, I really struggle with them.
Zoe
Zoe
On windows, you can do it in 1 or 2 modifiers, depending on which you use
Oh hey, chat updated :P
1 modifier on MacOS.
Zoe
Zoe
Anyway, you have Ctrl-Alt-7890, or AltGR-7890
Switch for round, Option for square, both for curly.
Zoe
Zoe
6:47 PM
On Linux, you only have AltGR-7890, which initially fucked with my muscle memory, but I've gotten used to it
On Mac, the keys are in comfortable positions next to each other. On Windows/Linux, they are spread out in uncomfortable locations.
Zoe
Zoe
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact yeah, and that is so incredibly stupid. With the ISO layout, it's the same modifier on four different keys. With the ISO English layout, it's indeed merged in on the same key, but it only uses shift as the modifier IIRC
@Zoe I disagree.
I can even barely stretch my fingers between the keys necessary on Linux, now.
Mac: left hand on modifier keys, right hand 8 and 9.
Linux: complete mess.
Zoe
Zoe
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact Sounds like you need a smaller keyboard then :p
No, it literally hurts my right hand. The thumb is stretched under the hand to the other side, while my other fingers fight to reach the 8 and 9 keys.
And it's so confusing when I have to use the left hand for round ones.
Zoe
Zoe
6:53 PM
I don't think I've ever touched right shift or control
Not right shift.
Right ALT.
Zoe
Zoe
Actually, right control is a lie; I mapped it to compose, so I can disable dead keys but still get ö
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact uhhhh, () are shift-89
@Zoe Yes.
Right ALT for square and curly.
There's no way I can comfortably enter square and curly braces without moving my left hand all the way over to the wrong side of the keyboard.
And it's so unnatural to have curly braces on another set of keys. Not just that, but they are too far away, so if I need to enter both left and right curly braces, I need an empty finger inbetween.
Zoe
Zoe
I don't have that problem. /shrug
mhm
Hey, why'd you flip the red and blue, and wash them out? That's not the Norwegian flag.
@Zoe Wait, why do you need Swedish letters?
Zoe
Zoe
7:00 PM
No, it's the trans flag
@AndreasmovedtoCodidact I don't, but on both windows and the standard linux layout for norwegian, you get dead keys. So if you type ¨o, you get ö. However, the consequence is that ~ becomes significantly harder to type, because you have to press it several times to get ~. Same with `, both of which are incredibly annoying when typing markdown
I can barely even remember the key combination for ~
Zoe
Zoe
So I use the no dead keys variant of the norwegian layout, which means ¨o is just ¨o. Instead, I use the compose key, which is the same as dead keys, but only on-demand. If I click compose-¨o, I get ö
And the only time I actually write ö is when I write "wörk wörk"
wørk wørk
bårk bårk
Zoe
Zoe
Also exceptionally annoying; with dead keys, you can only type ` in pairs, unless you do `<space>, but I have `` in my muscle memory
I still have to press space on my Mac.
Zoe
Zoe
7:05 PM
yeah, because mac also does dead keys
I love my Smac!
Well, good thing we can choose for ourselves what we think works best.
Zoe
Zoe
indeed
If only I could swing my wand and instantaneously fix GTK's awful choices in regards to scaling.
Oh, and X11.
Oh, and Wayland.
That includes the v1 fractional scaling protocol.
So I'm stuck at 2x scaling.
Aha. And it seems that Titanfall 2's multiplayer connection not working is actually not due to Linux or Lutris, but a bug in OpenSSL on CPUs with the SHA extension. My previous CPU did not have that, but my current does. Interesting.
