A downvote isn't toxicity. A downvote on a normal site is a nudge that, hey, this content doesn't meet the quality bar. On meta, downvotes can mean something else, — Aaron Bertrand 17 secs ago

Of your five suggestions, three are already in place and the other two are so naive and clueless about the system intent that we have to close multiple duplicates every month. Please learn about the system before you repeat the same things that have been done to death already. — Nij 53 secs ago

Requiring explanations for downvotes has been discussed already, but for #5, while it isn't automatic (we don't want to dump bad questions on other sites), questions can be migrated between sites. For #3, closure information (and which user(s)) is already public (look in the timeline). Making it more prominent could result in rude comments about closure. Also, for #1, questions aren't tickets. SE (and SO) is not a helpdesk. — cocomac 12 secs ago

Also, for #2, a project called the Staging Ground will give askers feedback and assistance on ensuring questions are on-topic and high quality before questins go public. It isn't exactly what you suggested, but it's worth mentioning as it would (hopefully) get ahead of that. — cocomac 56 secs ago

The answer given to the webpack question smells like an AI-generated answer. Maybe that's the reason for the negative votes on the answer. — Augusto Vasques 31 secs ago

RE closures supposedly being automated: no, they're not (unless you as the author approve a proposed duplicate): they are done by real people. The names of the users who voted to close the question is not shown in the post notice because of past incidents where such users have faced harassment. If you go to your post's history or timeline, you'll see that there are real people behind every closure (except in the once case I noted). — Sonic the Anonymous Hedgehog just now

Also, users acting as curators of the site ≠ moderators. The vast majority of closures are just experienced users of the site not moderators. Yours was closed by 3 people with a combined >25 years of membership, but no moderator (signified by a diamond by their name) was involved — fyrepenguin 21 secs ago

For the answer you linked, also see also Why is it a bad idea to tell other users publicly why you believe something is (or is not) from ChatGPT (or other AI)? While we can never be sure why something is downvoted, I agree with @AugustoVasques in this case - The community has become pretty good about spotting obvious AI-generated content, and no, we're (hopefully) not going to disclose why we believe that answer falls into this category. Ultimately, the Moderators will decide whether it is or isn't and take appropriate action if needed. — NotTheDr01ds 40 secs ago

Which site are we talking about? And it would be a bug if your claim that your questions were all highly rated and you still got rate limited. Any links you can share to these highly rated questions that caused the rate-limit? — rene 31 secs ago

We don't have boards. We have sites. And shockingly, we're not the 'only Q&A site' on the internet. And we don't even know which site you're rate limited on. — Journeyman Geek 33 secs ago

Just a quick question: why is the minimum upload size 160x160px? In several of my posts on tex.stackexhange.com, the needed images are significantly smaller, so that I have to pad them with white pixels... — Rmano 7 secs ago

A quick check does not show you having any accounts on any other Stack Exchange sites, so what is your rant all about? You don't appear to use this site at all. If you did, you would also know this isn't a "board" so I'm guessing you have been one of the hundreds of other places where you can ask questions, and mistakenly come here to rant about your poor experience there. — Rory Alsop 53 secs ago

I deleted all my accounts never intending to use this site again after I wasn't allowed to remove posts I posted sensitive info on, despite begging the freaking mods. I've since re-made one account, made one post a few days ago that has so far gotten 4 upvotes, but I'm not allowed to post there again. Wtf? — user8600 24 secs ago

Hi Sum, welcome to the Stack Exchange Network Meta site! I'm not sure which search brought you here but the problem you describe will not be answered on this specific site. To get an expert's answer for the topic of your question you'll have to find and then re-post on the proper site. Check How do I ask a good question and What is on topic on the target site to make sure your post is in good shape. Your question is definitely off-topic on Meta and is better deleted here. — rene 26 secs ago

I've been mulling over whether or not to start a new question. However while similar to yours its more to do with Google search bringing up duplicates. I am wondering how to handle (mostly StackOverflow) newer but still duplicate questions are linked to first. — tijko 45 secs ago

@FranckDernoncourt Looking at the pages, there are some places where this could be expanded on. I think the header "What counts as "content generated by generative artificial intelligence tools"?" section makes sense. However, this section could also be expanded to include other types of generative AI that isn't based on LLMs or GPTs. — Thomas Owens 31 secs ago
