@amWhy Hello!
No worries, I'm not that busy anyway since I got almost all the requirements, except for a medical certificate which I'll get tomorrow. Thanks for checking in, by the way

@for-the-love-of-soupless Hello! Good to see you! It's nice to interact in "real time!"
I just noticed your name change, @for-the-love-of-soupless. I like it!

I also got hooked with programming, so the math part in me kinda went out for a while, although I might need to get back again
@amWhy It's only here at Meta, since I don't have much activity here

@for-the-love-of-soupless I hear you! While in grad school, I found myself becoming fond of programming! It's hard to juggle two interests, save for the fact they are related.

That's true! My mother was worried that the admission and scholarship staff might put me in BS Computer Science as I mentioned that I also do programming.

@for-the-love-of-soupless Indeed; my profile here is different than else-where, where I say little. My profile here remains what it once was, across the board.

My only defense is that, in math, at some point, you don't have to do everything manually using pen-and-paper methods and a scientific calculator. At some point, you have to automate tasks and use programming for it.
When some staff visited our house, they mentioned that, even though they aren't really asking for my service to the university, I should offer services for the university. I think I overestimated my abilities, but I did it anyway to project confidence. I said I'll help with the maintenance of the school website because overall, it isn't secure.

Now that I got the scholarship, maybe I really have to help. I only have a month to learn web languages.

@for-the-love-of-soupless Indeed, in many math disciplines. But I still encourage students to understand the math first, before relying on CAS and such, to simplify the time consuming calculations.

I can't quite imagine how to solve questions related to statistics when the data set is large.

@for-the-love-of-soupless Don't overthink it. I think you earned your scholarship. I've always known you to be committed AND a hard worker, and talented. I'd like most of all, for you to enjoy your studies, and assist others, when you can. Enjoying and working hard, are not mutually exclusive. I trust you, and most of all, I hope that you can trust your learning, and your success.
@for-the-love-of-soupless That's where CAS, like R, help immensely, which will become second hand if you pursue statistics, and even as an undergrad.
I've got to teach at in a half hour, and fine tune my lecture notes, but I'll be checking in later!

3 hours later…
6:52 PM
Another cafe! :D

2 hours later…
8:43 PM
Welcome, @Ann !
@for-the-love-of-soupless I'm back, but at this hour, I hope you're sleeping ;D
