@ShadowWizardisEarForYou Sure, but I think they more or less socially distance
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou OK, the most obvious first difference would be there are some characters in the book that do minor or major things but aren't in the show
Apparently, Val and Quentyn Martell are one of them
Are they in the show, or do they not exist, as I heard?

@M.A.R. hmm... Yeah, not much background about the Martells in the show.

One memorable difference is that there's no Sandor/Brienne fight in the books. The show does it better
Sandor doesn't have much of an ending to his arc. He just dies.

Sandor is the Hound? Or Mountain?

Brienne is attacked by Biter, and Biter has humongous strength, almost supernatural
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou The Hound
Biter bites half her cheek off o.O

In the show they both fight and kill each other. (falling off a cliff)

9:27 AM
Sandor meets two of Gregor's men, and that's where he fights drunkenly, gets wounded, the wounds fester, and he dies while Arya doesn't give him "the gift of mercy"

@M.A.R. who's Biter?

@ShadowWizardisEarForYou In the show, he bites Sandor's neck
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou WTF, Brienne dies then and there?
Anyway, they never meet in the books. Brienne meets with a magical monk who tells her he buried Sandor. It's believed Sandor sacked and raped people in Saltpans
While it's actually someone else.
By the end of Book 5, it's unclear whether Jamie survived (unlikely) or Brienne survived (likely)

@M.A.R. well in the show she does the same, but he survives. Think saved by the Fire Priest, not sure. (it's in season 6 or 7 which I didn't re-watch yet)

Is Stoneheart in the show?
I think that's one major point the show diverged

@M.A.R. no no... Sandor and Gregor fight, in the last season.

9:37 AM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou What about Brienne?

@M.A.R. think she survives to the end... Let's see in wiki..

Aha, you said they "fight and kill each other"
Anyway, there's a whole arc about this Quentyn Martell guy, Doran Martell's son
And he dies horribly
It should probably be Season 6
There's the fact that Sand Snakes don't kill Doran in the books
He's a sneaky cunning bastard in the book that probably is going to play a big part in the coming storm

@M.A.R. in the show she becomes the commander of the Kings Guard. (last episode)

Another difference: Jon is stabbed by the Night's Watch, not the Brotherhood
So I'm thinking the Brotherhood is entirely different later on in the shows
Although the moral deterioration is there

@M.A.R. in the show Oberin dies horribly by the Mountain. This leads to rebellion of the sand snakes, and killing Cersei's daughter.
@M.A.R. they just revive some people and help fighting the army of the dead later, not much about them except for that.
@M.A.R. don't think so.

9:46 AM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou in the books Oberyn dies horribly by the Mountain. This leads to Arianne sneakily rebelling, and very pissed Sand Snakes getting homebound. Cersei's daughter is caught in the way, but she doesn't die, just a slash to the poor face, and some mystery guy does it and he's not much explained
Doran contains them all, then shows them he's been plotting revenge against Tywin for 25 years.
Originally his daughter was meant to marry Viserys, but Drogo killed Viserys and now his son Quentyn will go to meet Dany and propose to her
Is that elaborate or what.
The Brotherhood are probably the only group of people with some morality left until the end of Season 3. Then Beric gives his life to revive a murdered Catelyn Stark. She looks more like a white walker than a revived Catelyn, mind you, but now she exacts revenge on the Freys by hanging them
Then the Brotherhood becomes assholes.
Thoros is sad and he's pushed aside.
Brienne saves a bunch of kids in an inn but is horribly disfigured by Biter and kills Rorge. She's made it her quest to find Cat's daughters, but then the outlaws catch her and Cat wants to hang her
Everything is a bit hazy after that. We dunno what became of her or Jamie yet

1:37 PM
Wow, so many differences...
In the TV show Doran is killed by Ellaria... Catelyn stays dead...
And still don't know who are Biter and Rorge?

4 hours later…
5:29 PM
@ShadowWizardisEarForYou After Ned, Arya was saved by a Night's Watch recruiter named Yoren and they fled the King's Landing. The company of Yoren was Arya, a bunch of kids (including Gendry), and three terrible terrible criminals in a cart: Rorge, Biter, and Jaqen H'ghar
In the show, Rorge and Biter meet Sandor and Arya on Season 4, Biter bites Sandor and Sandor breaks his neck. His wound later festers and slows him down when fighting Brienne
In the books, Brienne meets them and . . . .

11:25 PM
@M.A.R. oh... Right! Forgot about them.
What about Arya in the books? Where she reach?
