I do see that point of view and I can respect that. What I am seeing now however now are trolls abusing the statements in the CoC and rallying against it. The FAQ draws a line between supporters and bigots which is not very accurate and causes many ordinarily fine people to fall on the wrong side of the line.

If anything more vigilance in flagging could have solved this problem, telling the mods what to look for maybe and answering Monica's Qs instead of firing her probably would have helped too.

Then the continued campaign on other platforms by SO Inc after all the answers and negative feedback can only lead me to that answer I left to the OP.

Have you read A Pronominal Proposal? I think it does a good job of keeping the strengths of the new proposal (namely the clearer rules that reduce the variation in what different mods find to be a problem) while adjusting the “bigot line” you mentioned to a much more reasonable place

I did and I agree, it is a much better FAQ that does not induce the problems with the official one. Not sure why I can't just be adopted. I would feel slightly more settled about the "conspiracy" if SO Inc, ate crow and switched. I'm a little too far beyond the "assume incompetence" stage though.

Hah, thanks well I appreciate your side of it. I'll try to keep my cynicism to myself and see if something positive is done from SO Inc, then I'll graduate them to "incompetent" from "evil corporate hate-mongers".
