I find myself curious about how many people in the discussion actually care about the policy merits of the differences between licenses (e.g. why use one vs. another)...vs. the black box conversation of "you can't just change A to B without permission", regardless of whether A or B are good or bad.

@HostileFork On principle alone the latter is important before we even discuss the former, particularly as it is infeasible to get every contributor's feedback (and unilateral agreement) on the former
@KonradRudolph Not sure whether you're joking but are you suggesting this would be the first time SE announced a sweeping change that was rejected almost immediately by the community by pointing out gaping flaws in its logic? It wouldn't even be the first time they've done something illegal (see: leaking emails to Amazon, deliberately, to save 30 mins' work)
