12:00 AM
hope we'll catch up some other time then, rest well

18 hours later…
6:00 PM
@peterh boop!

6:19 PM
@ocæon Boop :-) Boop :-)

hiya again, so what's with the addiction, are you driving yourself crazy with this?
i'm on alot but i don't feel any particular pressure
i guess what concerned me is you think you have contraversial views, when to me it just looks like you don't stay on topic, it looked like a stream of conciousness thing.

@ocæon Addiction is a quite relative term. Many people are using the sites a lot.
@ocæon Controversial? I would call it "minority opinion" :-), but not controversial. How do you think it?

6:38 PM
to speak of having unpopular views or minority opinion, yes, it needn't be controversial, but in a way it becomes that way when everyone's debating them.
but you had posted it with a html style disclaimer <absolutely unverified speculation>! lols
perhaps it's the style that attracted attention rather than the content
really i'm suprised i have such positive feedback, someone even just plonked 150 rep on an answer of mine that could have been a comment!

@ocæon Because I get typically these accusations, if I write something which is strongly suspectable, and very realistic, but it is not openly admitted.
@ocæon Another typical accusation if they say, that "I only want to attract attention". Why? I have nothing to do with "attention". I just want to write, what no one does.

yes you have identified what people might feel, but without knowing why, what can you learn?
ha! attention, everyone here is attracting attention, that's part of the point!
though the attention should be on the post, not the person.

@ocæon Yes, but not this is my intent. If I say something which is not very popular, but true, my goal is not to attract attention. Btw, the "attention" what I attract, manifests mainly in the form of downvotes. I have no idea, how could I get to 1800 on the MSE.

oh and should i @ you each chat? i usually just think you will return to page when you feel

6:54 PM
@ocæon I don't understand you.
@ is a noun, not a verb.

yes but i verb with nouns for simplicity. such as "just @ me when you want to chat"
with the exception of brand names. i dislike them becoming words
looking at some of your meta posts, it seems you get downvoted when you expect to be, you know when people will dislike something. my worst post was a feature request, nobody spoke about why it was unpopular except saying it was too broad
i havn't started a page since then.

7:11 PM
@ocæon Yes, I know in many cases, despite that I say what should be said. I consider this to my contribution to the health of the community - I think it would be surreal if exclusively upvoted posts would be written. But I don't know this always - for example,
@ocæon I suspected this will be an upvoted post, despite that I got many downs for a nuance. I found it unfair, so I decided to rather live with the downs together, but I won't change this nuance.
@ocæon In other cases, I wait only a simple reply and a near-zero score with a low view count. Like here. And the post becomes super-successful. I don't know, why is it so, but I generally refuse to remain silent to follow the unpredictable voting preferences of the community.
@ocæon Despite that, you have 800 rep. You will have more. Be active - actually, my current problem is that I dislike to have my MSE rep in my top7 accounts. It makes my profile looking unprofiessional. But I have no way to decrease it :-) Because I get enough ups for at least a stagnation.

i see, i think.. people don't like you guessing what is right or wrong for the site? but providing details that are insightful is very well received?

@ocæon I don't know very well, what will be well received, but I think, if we consider "the community" as a collective entity... like if it would be a single person, not the collective of many voters. Then I think, this single person would require urgently some mental therapy.

haa! surely!
but the post where you say "This makes their business probably lesser economical, compared to other global services with this size", what makes you want to say that, instead of asking it?

@ocæon This is what I suspect. I have no problem with the imgur.com, I have nearly zero problems with the SE. This post is about exactly the opposite: that I fear them.
@ocæon Wait, maybe they've thought that I want to write negative content from the imgur??
@ocæon They've thought that I am fudding them?

in a way, but a very small way, you are not advertising this all elsewhere for profit or politics maybe? lol

7:25 PM
@ocæon I can't understand this sentence. It looks to me as if you had started to write a sentence and meanwhile you had suddenly switched to another.

in a small way, your concern about their economy could seem like an insult, then i thought it was unlikely or funny that you could try to do that for profit or politics
so yes i changed halfway through. my mind and hands are tired, sorry

@ocæon I am out of the US, a simple person with zero business contact with any US company. Talking about the details of the imgur.com is obviously offtopic on the MSE. I only asked, does the SE has some backup paths for the case of an imgur breakdown.
@ocæon Ok, I agree that in a very small part it can be also interpreted as an insult, but I think this part is so small, that it requires a serious paranoia to consider it. Unfortunately, the MSE community seems to have this paranoia.

i agree a bit, i feel like if i say "this algorithm is broken" then i am expected to know how to make an algorithm. but i will try to change it to "to me this algorithm seems broken, how can i tell if it is?"
though then i may be told to learn about algorithm testing, and may not get an answer to the original problem

@ocæon I don't think that this would be a serious danger, due to its small chance, but if it would happen, the SE would have a problem. However, their developer Rebecca has wrote a backup script and the images are backed up, as rene explained.

which shows the usefulness of your question. and it does seem like good news, even if the chance is tiny.

7:44 PM
@ocæon Yes.
Thanks.

i must rest a while, thankyou for talking with me.

8:00 PM
Good bye'
!
