@quid Here too! "I'm melting.... !"

Yikes, I wish there were a way to immediately retract an inadvertent comment flag, @quid. I was trying to flag a comment (below the question) here written by the asker, But my "click" on the flag landed on the grey flag beside Joel Reyes Noche's comment. I did not know that until after clicking in the pop-up that shows after clicking a flag to explain the flag as "it's unfriendly or unkind".
I can't retract the flag, @quid, so I posted a general flag on the question (for mod attention), addressing my error, accepting a decline on that inadvertent flag. Probably, I din't need to flag for mod attention. I just wanted to speed up the dismissal of that incorrect flag of Joel's comment.

@quid The matter seems to have been settled, the flag I knew was incorrect was declined, as was the flag I had hoped would alert a mod to that flag. Why can't a user retract an inadvertent flag. My the diameter of effective clicking on the right flag is very tight on my tablet; I could have saved everyone any trouble had I been able to retract my erroneous comment flag.

Hello @Namaste sorry for not having paid attention to this earlier. It seems mostly resolved. At some point the feature to retract flags was introduced but it does not apply to all flags. Often comments are not treated all that detailed as regards features. That is to say I don't think there is a deep reason.
Recall that retracting votes to close is a rather recent addition.

@quid Could be. I think it might be an option for custom flags, but not necessarily for pre-designated flags. My inadvertent flag was a "unfriendly or unkind" flag, misapplied to the wrong comment.
I guess I hoped my flag for mod attention, regarding my inadvertent flag, before either flag was declined, was taken to be only as an honest attempt to be helpful. The comment I received on that flag was fair enough: "Sending a followup flag to explain an erroneous flag isn't necessary; it can just get declined and it's all fine. Cheers! " But I don't think it necessitated "decline"
@quid I think I've been spoiled by your efforts to see the best of intentions in flags, and your generosity in considering earnest and honest flagshelpful. :-) You're a great mod.

@Namaste personally I don't decline in such situations, but I have seen other mods apply a different approach. I think the mostly mean to also give "structured" feedback, in that a flag that should not have been cast in their opinion gets declined. It's a difference of style. Given the explanation you got I think you helpful intent was understood.

@quid I agree with this. I guess I knew my second flag (custom comment) wasn't "needed", per se ... I merely hoped that a mod could intervene in the wrong flag, quicker, than otherwise, so flagging it for mod attention. But yes, you're right, I think my helpful intent was understood by the mod handling it.

@quid Is it still so warm?

11:20 PM
@Namaste there was some rain, so it cooled down a bit.

@quid same here! Good sleeping weather!

@Namaste tangentially, for the most part comment and mod attention flags have the same visibility. (On busy sites it might make some difference as somebody might filter or not look at all flags, but on small and even midsized sites it should be equal.)
That said, I think it can still be helpful to explain the situation explicitly.
Sometimes seeing what is unfriendly takes some effort. Thus quick dismissals are not always a given.

11:41 PM
@quid I understand.
And I feel no ill will, nor any insult from the course of events with my flags.
