@AnsgarWiechers regardless, why make it use such strong language in the code, and use such an anbiguous block without a page in the help section to explain what was meant?

@JourneymanGeek this is why I did those edits:

@Tim uhm, All at once? naw
I doubt it

Tim
@Mari-LouA yeah I guess I am. meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/390301#comment733925_390306 summaries my feelings here. Pointing out the fact that I’m borderline spamming, but nobody can roll back my edits because adding noise is now a totally valid thing to do! At least this time I’m only vandalising my own posts (and it’s permissible vandalism because SO corporate don’t understand the consequences of their policies). — Tim 18 hours ago

Glo has been going around undoing all those edits tho

Tim
Yeah, I did them all at once because I could

sigh
Good for you.

The fact that SE are allowing this to happen is evidence of how little they’ve thought out these absurd policies
The fact that people can now spam the homepage and it’s allowed is not going to end well

@Tim and by doing that you made things difficult for folks who has nothing to do with those policies

Tim
@user1306322 yeah I’ve flagged for moderator attention. I’m not getting into an edit war with them

@Tim define "allowed"? You mean as in "not suspended as result"?

Tim
@JourneymanGeek and to those I am sorry

@Tim I'm not entirely sure

Tim
3:01 PM
@Shadow literally, yeah. The fact that it’s allowed is just absurd and foolish

you seem pretty proud of how clever you think you are.

People abusing something "technically allowed" to make a point isn't very constructive.

Tim
@JourneymanGeek I don’t think it’s an especially clever thing to do?

And basically told folks "Hey, people who don't like this are unreasonable and will totally vandalise the front page to make a point"

Tim
@user58 correct, but SE don’t respond to constructive criticism. They respond to Twitter outrage

3:02 PM
@Tim It wasn't.
@Tim go spam twitter them
And there's ways to do things with constructive crititism

Tim
@JourneymanGeek or I can spam in their back garden

Right.

Tim
@JourneymanGeek of course there are. And the moment SE start responding to that, I’ll respond back in kind

they don't care about their back garden

Tim
Look, I don’t think it’s an especially pleasant thing I did. That’s my point

3:03 PM
They've sold it to donal trump and he's building a highrise block on it.

@user58 indeed

@djsmiley2k Knock it off.
You know better.

my best analogy at the moment: it's like as if Home Owner Association made a mistake in their rule to allow anyone to use a water tap in the apartment building foyer and to show them how non-perfect their rules are someone decided to open the tap and flood the entire first floor, while technically obeying the rules.

Tim
@djsmiley2k well, perhaps their front gardens then, when the full front page of Ask Ubuntu is my edits

@Tim there's a whole load of folks trying to sort this out in the background.

The rules now literally allow me to be super obnoxious and spammy

How did we end up in a situation where the culture punishes admitting mistakes more than potentially actually killing someone.

Uh, sorry, what, @Mgetz? Where'd that come from?

+1 to that, what's the context?

@MarkAmery looking at the current situation from a loooong ways back

if you're alluding to previous mod removals then I'm not well informed on that

I'm not, I'm speaking more philosophically and meta

6:56 PM
The number of mods who are upset is higher than the ones who have actively done something. The main thing has been the way that SE staff treats mods. It's a form of TAs having to do all the work with no input from the professors or department. Then the department chair getting mad that the TAs did the wrong thing months later.

@jcolebrand that... is exactly what actually happens in academia

@Mgetz nobody is being punished for making mistakes more than potentially actually killing someone.
That is definitively not happening

@jcolebrand you're being too literal
it's philosophical question

You're using words. I can only read them a certain way. You started off on that comment with sarcasm, hyperbole, and/or exaggeration, but I can only respond to the words you've given.

@jcolebrand it is most definitely happening, I've talked to someone recently it's happened to.

6:58 PM
there's a pretty scathing open letter that a lot more then 60 mods signed

Please stop assuming bad faith, and responding in negative intent
you're directly attacking me for a philosophical question

The issue with misgendering is that it can actually lead to a worsening depression that can lead to suicide.
I'm not attacking you bro

lets all calm down a little

@jcolebrand Which as nothing to do with my non-sequitur question
and yes you did

@Mgetz See, this is where I'm confused. I thought that was explicitly verboten now? Or did it change before the final CoC?
