9:00 AM
Tinkeringbell has unfrozen this room.

It's thawed out!

@g3rv4 miss click at popup won't lead to closing it in some cases. Now we can lost some important changes in New Suggestion block.

4 hours later…
1:17 PM
@αλεχολυτ Can you explain it to me a little more? where are you clicking?
@αλεχολυτ just outside of the box?

@gbianchi outside the popup window, i.e. on the gray area

@αλεχολυτ mmmm.. ok.. that's like any popup in the world... :p
you expect to confirm the text on the suggestion box?? or not closing it if you have some text?
We don't have a cancel button.. I don't know it that's really necesary...

@gbianchi I suggest to show (another popup?) a message like in web browser when the clicking on some link may lead to lost some changes on the current page.

If that's the case, we should add another cancel button.. Can you add an issue on git about this? I'm not totally sure that we can add another popup over this... maybe the best solution it's to prevent the closing when there is some text on the suggestion box...

I will accept any solution that can help preventing the losing of any (mostly important) changes. For instance, I made a long translation directly inside the traducir and accidentally click outside of the popup ... :(

1:30 PM
@αλεχολυτ I know the feeling.. ;)

Yet another feature request for traducir would be is to add the suggested translation like exists on the transifex site.

@αλεχολυτ a dictionary? mmm.. that's look a lot more complicated...
I never tough about it... how would you do it?

@gbianchi not really a dictionary ...
Can't find where to change the transifex UI language to English for better screenshot
Here is the list (18) of previously translations for similar strings

@αλεχολυτ ahh.. the history is there on the app. There is a table for everychange that made a user to a string.. so if we add some indexed there is a way to show the history...
@αλεχολυτ Also, take in mind that there are almost no similar strings. Transifex take every string as a new string. We not, we look at the string and in some cases, we fix it on the fly.. @g3rv4 can explain this a lot better..

1:47 PM
@gbianchi trasifex can help make translations consistent. When I see suggestions from another strings I can choose same words to translate new phrases.

@αλεχολυτ Yes.. I understand what you mean.. in that case we need some kind of regex that is based on the text you are translating...
But take in mind, that once you translate the heavy part, there are almost no use in the app for weeks. Unless someone at SO break something...

> Unless someone at SO break something...
This happens every day :)

@αλεχολυτ lol.. somewhere between 5 to 8 times... a day? lol

2:08 PM
thanks @gbianchi! you put it nicely :)
@αλεχολυτ adding suggestions may be easy if transifex exposes it via their api... if they don’t, then we’d have to implement it
if you want to take a stab at it, I’d be happy to review a PR
re: not closing the popup, we can totally disable closing it when clicking outside and add a cancel button. as @gbianchi suggested
create an issue and let’s talk there
I don’t have time to work on the suggestions change... you could either work on it or suggest disabling traducir for SOru if it’s sonethibg very important for your community ;) no hard feelings!

@g3rv4 Not sure why you're talking about SOru ... my suggestions are not SOru oriented, and will help for any localized SO.

@g3rv4 I can check out the api, but I don't think they would expose something like that..

@αλεχολυτ oh, I understand :) but in the absence of a feature on traducir that’s available on transifex, a localized community may choose to just use transifex as they did before
any community ;)
@gbianchi yeah, me neither (and their api is... quite bad)

@g3rv4 I know :)

2:25 PM
@g3rv4 Do you mean that posting bug reports and feature-requests for truducir is not valuable if the poster won't to implement them byself? Or I misunderstand something?

@αλεχολυτ things get's done if Gerv or myself have time.. but if someone wants to give a hand.. better ;)

@gbianchi I'm not a web developer :)

@αλεχολυτ I didn't know react (and I made a lot of changes to it) :) I'm learning doing changes to this monster :p
@αλεχολυτ the cancel button should be easy to implement.. the other one is seriously more complex... but you can make issues about them..

@gbianchi got it

2:47 PM
@αλεχολυτ it is absolutely valuable! I just want to make sure we set reasonable expectations :) that is: the issue with the closing modal is something we can work out fairly easily
the translation recommendations is not
@αλεχολυτ I don’t want you to be frustrated if 1 year comes through and there hasn’t been any work on the translation recommendation issue :)
as long as that’s understood, report away!
that’s why I mentioned that if it’s a critical feature for the community, a more reasonable approach could be advocating for leaving traducir and going back to transifex
@αλεχολυτ sorry if I’m having a hard time expressing myself, I’m on paternity leave and since this convo started I changed my kids diaper, fed her and fell asleep 3 times ;)

@g3rv4 LOL.. that's why i'm covering you ;)

@gbianchi <3
