@Martin yeah, if you only look at one user, all the indexes on userid / owneruserid will reduce the number of rows to process big time. Without it SQL has to load all rows. Then db size does matter. I did try some tricks shown by Paul last year which includes making temp tables but on SO even spooling the records to the temp table tales too long to give you the benefit of having a specialized index on the temp table for the goal of analyzing the data within the 2 minute timeframe.
